Tarot. It's criminal that they're not more famous after a quarter of a century spent making amazing music.

Holy crap, this reminded me that I haven't listened to Tarot for a long time. And yes, they are criminally unheard of.

Well, some of my favorites arn't known very well. Some of them include Starfucker, You Me and Everyone We Know, Idiot Pilot, Working For a Nuclear Free City, The Dear Hunter, and The Sea and Cake. Yeah, I think a lot of my top bands are pretty unknown by a large majority of people

Hearing 200 people shout "they killed John Henry but they won't kill me" at his concert was one of the best things I've ever seen at a show.

It took me a long time to come to terms with the fact that Justin Townes Earle is a million times better than his father.

If you're into this sort of thing, you may want to check out Austin Lucas if you haven't already.

Foxy Shazam. Think a little bit of Meatloag and a whole lotta Queen. Glam rock perhaps at its best.

Versailles is my favourite band. But there are several more that I like that no one seems to have heard of... I get the feeling it's more just the genre since it's not as popular here as it is overseas.

EDIT: Yes, they are all men. Yes. Even the one in the dress. His name is Hizaki.

Also, I quite enjoy maNga.

I'm rather fond of Oingo Boingo, even though it seems to be the internet's butt end of jokes. "Man, Danny Elfman makes the best musical scores for Tim Burton, I wish he'd get a band." before linking to Stay or Little Girls on YouTube...actually, that's how I found out about them. But damn it, they are awesome!

I like Midnight Oil, it was sort of mainstream in Australia about 30 years ago but i dont know if they were ever big overseas.
To link my choice and yours, Shihad did a good cover of Midnight Oil's "Kosciuszko".

Blue October. They're getting more known as time goes, but probably not so well known as to be common knowledge.

Blind Guardian.

They've been around for about 30 some-odd years, and I really love em, but for some reason almost none of my friends have heard of them. They're Power Metal, by the by.

Don't know if anyone mentioned this, but Kirby Krackle. An amazing band for all fans of comic books, video games, and the rock stylings of bands like the Foo Fighters. Here's a sample.

Incidentally, it's a better Green Lantern movie than the Green Lantern movie.
