Your Favorite "Underrated" Underrated Game(s)

I actually really liked that star trek game for 360 (I forget the name)

the big point battles and crazy fights were really fun.

Yakuza 3, ROTK series, and Nobunaga's Ambitions series. At least, in the North American reference frame.
MAG. Valkyria Chronicles (every PS3 gamer who didn't play this should be ashamed; they gave us gameplay innovation and we spat in their face).

Agreed 100%, also Lost Planet 2 was spectacularly fun online; but the reviews kinda discouraged anyone from buying the game. The community dwindled in about a month.

Penumbra series, Culpa Innata, Fear Effect 1 and 2, portal prelude.

Fear Effect 1 and 2 are two of my all time favourite games. I still can't believe FE: Inferno was cancelled.

Every time my friend rags on me about not having played Persona 3, I give a sidelong glance and say "Joe and Mac." That's one of the best SNES games I've played, and it makes him feel like crap every time.

Freedom Fighters springs to mind. What an awesome, awesome game.

Also, The Darkness for the PS3.

I really have to try Freedom Fighters. I keep hearing nothing but good things about it

Shadow of Destiny is a great game that I would classify as "underrated" underrated.

Nier! It's probably my favorite game from this years...<.<

I just came across a GFaqs thread about Nier being $20 at Kmart, and I kind of just forgot about it after it didn't get that many good reviews, and I'm very picky about my RPGs. Anyways, the other day I skimmed over the RPGFan review and watched a couple youtube reviews, and now I'm very interested in playing Nier. One of the youtube reviews said you have to play the game multiple times for the full story, but that the game drops you into the middle of the game when you load a clear save so you don't have to play through the whole game again. I'm wondering how many times you have to playthrough the game to get the full story.

The Little King's Story. Don't look at me like that, the game was actually good once you got past the kiddy graffics.

Its always good to know there are others who actually put in the effort and play games like this, despite the apparently overwhelming opinion that it must be for kids because of the graphics (which were simply beautiful in my opinion).

LKS is a great game and doesn't get nearly enough attention.

I'm not alone! I personally loved the graphics, but I know that's the main reason people didn't buy it. The part that makes me angry is that they want to make a sequel but it sold so poorly they probably can't afford to make one.

Well there are several endings and extra tacked on campaign things so a few times at least...<.<

Man, I'm going all the way back to the adventure games made by Humongous Entertainment. Those were the first games I played and they hold a special place in my heart. It saddens me greatly that modern tools for entertainment and education of young children through games is now in the hands of shitty proprietary consoles filled to the brim with nothing but commercialized media like Dora the Explora and not in simple fun little cartoon adventure puzzle games like Pajama Sam, Putt Putt, Freddie Fish and Spy Fox. Oh well, life goes on I suppose.

I'm going to have to say Universe At War: Earth Assault. It's an RTS port back from 2007. I'd never even heard about it until recently, but from what I can tell it really flew under the radar. Too bad, really, since it's got really fun/diverse factions and satisfying gameplay, and the controls are some of the best I've seen on a console RTS.

Cool Spot for the Genesis. Probably the best advertising game I've ever played. I played it again recently and remembered that it's AWESOME.

I don't know if it's any good on SNES, but if you have a genesis and a chance to play it, do so. It's a tough, but fun platformer with a cool soundtrack and great visuals, as well as a ton of pretty silly worlds. Possibly one of my favorite games for the Genesis even. I played it back then until I beat the "Collect All Letters On Hard" challenge, took a picture of the ending screen... and found out the contest had been over for like a couple years now. Ah well!

Killer7, and I owned it WAY before Yahtzee's praise.

That was one of very few games I got on release when I was in college. Because, you know... money... I was poor. Another great choice for underrated!
