American Head Charge, a metal band that I saw live opening for Mudvayne. One of the very few opening bands I've seen that I liked.

Buck 65, he's a pseudo-hip hop artist from Nova Scotia.
Also, Unkle. If you're going to look him up, try to find a song called "burn my shadow".

For any electronica fans, Mind in a Box are really nicely put together but probably not as well known.

Not many people seem to have heard of Virgin Black, which are my second favourite Doom Metal band second only to My Dying Bride.

2 bands I saw last week that I liked were Lycanthrope (80s feel with kilts) and Warscythe (Death [and by that I mean the band] inspired music).

Virginia Coalition. Their live album is absolutely incredible. My #1 favorite album of all time (just ahead of The Who - Live at Leeds if anyone wants to know :p).

It's sort of girly music, but it's so good.

EDIT: If you don't feel like spending the money, get Green and Grey / Meteor off of their live album. Both great songs.

Holy mother of a magestic moose, I know this band. They supported us when I was with my old band Son of A Gun at esquires some years ago.

Relatively small world eh?

Two bands in which I know the bands personally and I knew them before they had these bands. They were awesome live before and even better now.

www.myspace.com/modelbehaviorbaby/

and www.myspace.com/thecolorofmay/

They are both totally different than each other but both are awesome.

Both are bands out of the 60's that NOBODY knows about today.
i think you would like Michael Yonkers, awesome 60s music but no one seems to know him

They're not well known (as far as I'm aware), so I'll go with Single File.

Their latest single (Mannequin Loveseat) is either the best satire of the entire emo genre I've ever heard, or is dead serious; so it's hilarious either way
hey! single file is from colorado, I saw them. They were pretty good. But I like zombies ate my neighbors
You might also check out "No More Kings" for that kind of pop-culture humor in songs. They also do a zombie-related tune, which is a lot of fun.
