Not my all-time favorite, but I've always felt that Deinonychus has always been historically underrepresented:

As for my favorite, I'm gonna have to go with the classic Trilobite. Maybe not the flashiest looking beast of time gone by, but those little things were resilient and numerous. Much props to the prehistoric cockroach that is the Trilobite

The deinosuchus. Why? Because it was 40 feet long, weighed eight and a half tons, and could hunt down a T-Rex.

Take that, modern crocodiles!

The Cave Bear (Ursus Spelaeus), an unusually large specimen of bear found in prehistoric Europe. A creature so mighty it is commonly held to be one of the first objects of human worship (though fiction has understandably exaggerated what is known).

Also, do Neanderthals count? They're not what most people would mean when they say "animal", but our long-dead cousin species deserves mention, I feel.

Quagga was the mullet of the animal kingdom. Zebra in the front, horse in the back.

But of course! A tree animal, why didn't I think of that.

The Glyptodon loses yet again!

Sabretooth is awesome, but being Aussie I will have to say the Thylacine or Tasmanian Tiger as it is commonly known. They last known alive Tassie Tiger was in 1936 in the Hobart Zoo, but still to this day there is people claiming they have seen one in the forests of Tasmania

Misses them :'(
