Because the guy actually manages to look badass in SNES graphics. You gotta respect that.
Also, he was a very tragic an sympathetic character, also while being a powerful, evil sorcerer. I like that.

I doubt that, they really don't have many simularities.

You mean that bit where he throws his sunglasses (that he`s wareing in the dead of night ) only for dipshit chris to grab them , stare at them for about 5 seconds before wesker owns both him and sheva and pick his glasses up before they even hit the floor , sometimes i just want the baddies to win , they`re too cool
