E2M8: Tower of Babel in Doom, the final level of portal (not test chamber 19, but the level with GLaDOS), Brookhaven Hospital in Silent Hill 2, Ravenholm in Half Life 2, and the Finale in Left 4 Dead 2 when you have to get across the bridge to get to da choppa.

End of the World in Kingdom Hearts. Epic as all hell. In fact, it pretty much was the hell of Kingdom Hearts.

The last few sections of Half Life 2, really from "Our Benefactors" onwards.

The Half Life 2 Levels where you get the blue gravity gun...
I just completed HL2 today. I bought it a couple years ago, started playing, got pissed off, played something else. I tried playing it again this week and this time I made it.

You are so right about that level. It justified having played through the rest of the game, which I'm afraid to say didn't excite me all that much, but then I prefer a game to exercise my brain a bit more. Why couldn't I have played through the whole thing with that blue gravity gun, eh? I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, too; there could have been an epilogue rather than going from G-Man's speech straight into the credits.

Uh, sorry, I meant to hit reply, and I just reported Oktalist on accident. Since there isn't anything offensive in your post I don't think they'll care.

Anyhow, my top 2:

1) Milkman Conspiracy in Psychonauts. Seriously, if you don't know about this level, go look it up.
2) Shalebridge Cradle in Thief: Deadly Shadows. Hate on the game all you want, the orphanage/Asylum with an evil presence and zombie inmates was one heck of a ride.

"Bad Trip" from Saints Row 2 comes to mind, although every level in that game was a blast. I also liked Tali's Loyalty Mission in ME2, cause it was cool to actually visit the migrant fleet and all that.

My absolute favorite of all time is definitely The Spirit Temple in OoT. The puzzles, the overall feel, it was all perfection for me. Also, the last boss made me feel funny in my pants for some reason when I was a child. The second phase, not the first phase.

When I was playing Master Quest, I quit at the Spirit Temple because I refused to continue a game that massacred my favorite level so much.

Hazy Maze Cave from Super Mario 64 has my undying fond love. I love that place to death.
Honorable Mention goes to Outer Wall from Cave Story, though.

Hitman: Blood Money's "A New Life" rocked. So much choices, so much opportunities, gah.
Also, the prison level from Kane & Lynch and the Gulag level from Modern Warfare 2.

The Lungfishopolis level in Psychonauts where you rampage around the mind of Lisa the Lungfish as GOGGOLOR. No contest.
Beaten to it. Seriously, that was an awesome level.

Also, the final act of the original Mass Effect. Yes, the final act of ME2 was great as well, but it just didn't have the same "kick-ASS!" factor that the original's final act had.

Favorite Level would have to be 1:1 in super mario bros snes.

Failing that and something a bit more modern would have to be 14 in Portal. Or For an FPS would have to be level 3 of doom II
