My first game was Space Invaders on the Atari. I was 4.

The game that made me realize gaming wasn't just a casual hobby anymore though was A Fairy Tale Adventure on Commodore 64. Not only did that game make me a gamer, but it also taught me the joys of losing myself into RPGs. I was around 7 at the time.

I think it was a really old racing game for my dad's 386, were you could build the track first and then race on it. It was pretty cool. I also played Lazy Larry every now and then just to practice my memorization of the above-18 verification quiz. I couldn't get farther than a few minutes in the game itself before getting stuck, seeing as I was like 6 and the game was in English (not my native tongue).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_(video_game)

Came bundled with the 2600, think I was around 4-5. But it is a 2 player only game, no AI of any kind, and my sister hated it.

My first single player video game was probably breakout http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakout_(arcade_game)

Thinks guys for making me feel old :s

First PC game - Ultima 1 - I still have the original floppy, maps and gamebox. I ended up playing the Ultima series up to about Ultima 6. The cloth maps that came with some of the Ultimas are gorgeous.

First Console game - Burgertime on the Atari

The Ultima series hooked me on gaming.

While I'm pretty sure that Galaga or Pac-Man were the first games I played, I would have to say that Super Mario Bros. and Castlevania were responsible to getting me really hooked on gaming. The original NES was like crack to me. Gotta' give Metal Gear props too. I remember spending many an afternoon playing that.

First game I remember is either JetPak or Hungry Horace on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Ooooh, the days spent with these games.

were going back to the dawn of ( at home) gaming for me, something out of the late 70's, early 80's

this was not the FIRST game I played, but the first one I can recall the name of with fondness. " Escape from the Dungeons of the Gods"

yes kids completely text based,

I remember Asylum too, I think that was mostly text base with some really really simple graphics that attempted " poorly" to be 3d...sorta like the great grandfather of the FPS

Sonic the hedgehog I think. But the game that got me into gaming was Turok dinosaur hunter and I still think it's one of the best games I've ever played.
