Don't plan on getting one for private use as I firmly believe the risks outweigh the benefits, but should I get around to it some day, probably a Walther GSP or some other competitive shooting .22 handgun.

It costs between $1000-1200 i probably have to start saving up a year before im gonna buy it. And yes i will get a safe, a good one. Im not gonna be one of those idiots that shoots a friend or gets shot by a drunk friend. My gun will be in the safe unloaded and ammo beside the gun. Gun safety is pretty important to me
I keep my 9mm loaded, chambered, safety on and in a snapped holster in a drawer in my nightstand. If I'm out, it's on my hip about half the time. It's no good to me if I can't shoot it. The only time they get locked up is when family comes over.

Okay lets clear up a few things.

1.) Not all 5.7 rounds are armor piecing. The only kind I've seen around are those blue tipped one and those aren't armor piercing (at least I don't think so). It's only "armor piercing because it travels so quickly. .223 are "armor piercing" they just won't go through ceramic plates.
I think you're a little confused. The velocity of the bullet isn't what makes an armor piercing round. You can load the cartridge with different grains and such to get different results but that's only a slight tune in the bullet. A real AP round is made with a shape charge in the actual projectile. The bullet flies through the air and when it strikes something the impact triggers the shape charge which detonates and pushes the front of the bullet harder.
I was referring to how The 5.7 penetrates soft body armor like Kevlar. I was just using the terms the previous posts use.

What part of NY do you live in?

You can still find AK-47 clones for sale (legally). I bought a WASR-10 from a local shop just a few months ago.

Hell, you can even find pre-ban 75-round drums at gun shows and on the internet.

And a 12 gauge shotgun, one of the most ubiquitous weapons in the entire world, is an armor piercing weapon if its chamber can accommodate slugs. A 12 gauge slug will go through body armor, or both sides of a car, like they're cardboard.

If I get a gun, it will likey be for paintball

I would prefer to buy swords over guns anyway. Swords seem more ascetically pleasing.

The one in my pants.

True, it's more like 'ordnance' than 'gun', but it's my first, last and favourite.

I agree with you about the coyotes, only animal I have had to shoot in a long time. I just disagree with you about the other snippets up there.

Normally when I encounter wildlife up close like that I give it a good shout and it runs away. Even cougars, which I have seen one before. Believe me I had my pistol drawn and aimed on him the moment I saw him, and he was gone half a second later. That same handgun shoot and killed that coyote. Handguns are great defense weapons even in the middle of the woods. Being out to hunt I would take the rifle, being out for a stroll, or working I would take the handgun. Hell even if I was out to hunt I would still have a fair size sidearm, just in case.
You gotta realize though, that most of these people posting about the handguns they want will never leave a city for more than a weekend camping trip in a patrolled park and would only "use" them in stupid situations that will get them or someone else hurt (again, not talking about taking it to the range here).

Also, people are seriously overestimating the accuracy of handguns, and their own ability to handle them effectively when it counts.
Now that I agree completely with. I do think people should really learn how to handle a gun before they buy one. But what they should do, and what they actually do are just not the same enough times. Properly handled I see no problems with people possessing and carrying firearms.

As far as accuracy goes, I have some handguns that are damn accurate, but then some like the Glock subcompacts while they are a accurate as they can be with a 3" barrel, they are still not all that accurate. Those various concealed carry revolvers I have seen some people posting are even worse, those like derringers are only intended to be used from little to no range.

Rochester NY.

And I didn't know you could find clones legally, I was under the impression that all automatic rifles were illegal here in NY. I guess not, though. Cool!

They are actually only semi-auto. They have to be illegally modified to make them full auto.

I don't own a gun, and hopefully in the future I won't need to own one either.

Had a Desert Eagle "Soft gun" though.

I didn't mean that full-auto AK's were legal (although I think it is possible with enough time, money, and flaming hoops). I was talking about the semi-auto kind.

I only have one problem with what you said. Cabbies can't drive for shit.

The first gun i fired was .22 Lee-Enfield convert, then i moved up to the SA80. The nest gun i have used is a .303 lee-enfield. If i could, i would buy one. (did all this in cadets, and unfortunately they don't let you keep the guns. selfish bastards) that thing was a beauty to shoot.
Right now, all i own is a .22 air rifle. Licensing laws in the UK are a right pain in the arse.

Ive fired this quite abit. Its the gun i use down at my range, reason i picked it. Otherwise, i wouldnt pick a gun :]
There is a range near you? Might i inquire as to where, i'm stuck shooting at bottles and stuff in my back yard and its just not big enough for a marksman of my caliber XD
