What was it? or if you will be a gun owner Which one will you buy?

On my 21st birthday i am gonna pick up this lil beauty:

Its mainly of self defense, The way society is progressing you dont know when shit will hit the fan.

Serious answers are appreciated (someone will say BFG 9000) but whatever, have fun with it.

EDIT: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. THIS ISNT A THREAD ABOUT GUN RIGHTS! IF YOU DONT WANT ONE THEN FINE! STOP JUDGING THOSE WHO WILL BUY ONE OR ALREADY OWN ONE. Take your opinions to the right place, they will be appreciated and this is not the right thread to start a gun ownership debate.
Holy shit! How much is that thing going to cost you?

Still, gun like that is worthless for self defence unless you train a lot with it. And for the love of god get a good gun safe as I don't know about you but if my house gets burgled when I'm away I won't care THAT much if they take my TV or something (hell, what is insurance for) but if I knew a criminal had got a gun of me even against my will....

The top one and the third one are mine, they are a High Standard Sentinel .22 9-Shot Revolver (top one) and the 3rd one is a '60s Charter Arms Undercover Special (5-shot) in .38 Special

The 2nd one is a Walther Model 4 made during early WWI, and the last pistol is a Iver & Johnson "Secret Service Special" made inthe '20s and '30s. They were very poorly made and had a reputation for fatally malfuntioning on the user, earning it the moniker the "Suicide Special." The only reason why people bought them was beacause they were cheap. Needless to say I didnt fire it lol.

My dad's friend dad died and he had a lot of firearms so I helped him out by cleaning all them for him so he let me have first pick at any I wanted to buy. I bought the Top and 3rd revolvers but he wanted to keep the Walther for himself, and the last revolver I didn't want at all. but they are all fun guns, minus the crappy revolver because we didn't touh it lol.

The Ruger 10/22 was my first rifle, and when I was 18 my dad gave it to me, (it was his), then last year I bought the MOsin Nagant M91/30 and the Lee Enfield mk.III

They only way I'll ever get a real gun is if I get a vintage thing, like a Luger, just because it's cool. For starters, I live in the UK, and secondly, I'm not a paranoid fool.

It costs between $1000-1200 i probably have to start saving up a year before im gonna buy it. And yes i will get a safe, a good one. Im not gonna be one of those idiots that shoots a friend or gets shot by a drunk friend. My gun will be in the safe unloaded and ammo beside the gun. Gun safety is pretty important to me

What did you expect?

OT: The fire flower in Super Mario Bros.
I have no interest in real guns. I can see how they appeal aesthetically to others but holding one in your hand is completely different. The heavy weight combined with the coldness of that steel makes me feel extremely uncomfortable.

I'd prefer a Samurai Sword. IMHO even prettier than guns and classier as well.

I'm a happy owner of a Mosin, probably will get a revolver for my next gun.
And if I do, it will be a .22, because I'm cheap and because it would just be for plinking away at cans in my back yard.

Might get a shotgun sometime down the road, but I have little need for one and no where appropreate to use it.

If you want to use a gun for self defense in the home, then you sort-of have to store it loaded. Perhaps with the chamber unloaded, though.
Ill have one magazine with the bullets in it ready to go but it wont be in the gun. It takes less than 15 secs to load the gun, chamber the round and take the safety off

Hmm, giving that it is illegal to own a gun where I come from, I'll go with my first virtual gun, BFG 9000 but I really think, if you can call it a gun, is the AntiAircraft gun from Silent hunter was my first.

I have grizzly and black bears, wolves, coyotes(which are more of a problem than the wolves and bears combined!)...

...That is my reason for owning guns... Handguns and automatic weopons have one purpose: to kill other people...
I agree with you about the coyotes, only animal I have had to shoot in a long time. I just disagree with you about the other snippets up there.

Normally when I encounter wildlife up close like that I give it a good shout and it runs away. Even cougars, which I have seen one before. Believe me I had my pistol drawn and aimed on him the moment I saw him, and he was gone half a second later. That same handgun shoot and killed that coyote. Handguns are great defense weapons even in the middle of the woods. Being out to hunt I would take the rifle, being out for a stroll, or working I would take the handgun. Hell even if I was out to hunt I would still have a fair size sidearm, just in case.
Yeah some people swear by handguns when they are in the bush, to me it seems like you would really need to know what you are doing with one before you take it out, and by that i dont mean you have taken it to the range a couple times... but if it works for you then bonus. I was thinking of getting one for my old lady to carry when she is working in the bush, but the hassle and the training make it not worth it.. besides, she wants an ultra-lightweight 12guage instead.

You gotta realize though, that most of these people posting about the handguns they want will never leave a city for more than a weekend camping trip in a patrolled park and would only "use" them in stupid situations that will get them or someone else hurt (again, not talking about taking it to the range here).

Also, people are seriously overestimating the accuracy of handguns, and their own ability to handle them effectively when it counts.

That is gorgeous. Truly a thing of beauty.

My uncle got me an Airsoft MP5, a Colt Double Eagle BB Gun and a Crossbow for my 16th birthday. I later got two Colt P-328 BB guns which are almost too small to carry, but can punch through a cardboard box.

For self defence, I have my bare fists, because I can get them faster than any weapon.

Okay lets clear up a few things.

1.) Not all 5.7 rounds are armor piecing. The only kind I've seen around are those blue tipped one and those aren't armor piercing (at least I don't think so). It's only "armor piercing because it travels so quickly. .223 are "armor piercing" they just won't go through ceramic plates.

2.) The whole idea of "stopping power" is complete bullshit. It's completely dependent on the person being shot. A 5.7 round is going to hurt and tear up your inside because it tumbles. If your worried about them coming after you after the first shot don't. You still have 19 rounds to go.

3.) Self-defense is a legitimate reason owning a gun. Any more than that then they are not used solely for self defense. My dad owns semi auto versions of all of these weapons. F2000, AR-15, P90, AK-47, AK-74, Kriss Super V(Vector), M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, in addition to a .308 hunting rifle, a .22 pistol and .22 rifle, a 9mm pistol, and a .22 version of an MP5.

We are not paranoid gun fanatics (we are actually very liberal when compared to most gun owners we know). We just enjoy target shooting with a variety of interesting guns. We're collectors, its just how we are. I'd collect fighter jets but there a little out of my price range. For us, self defense is just an added benefit.

4.) The Five seven may be expensive, but you get in return a very accurate, comfortable, low-recoil, high capacity pistol.

Finally someone who understands all aspects of gun owning.

First real gun that I ever fired.

The first gun that I will actually own.

What, I'm getting into re-enacting. Its not like I'll be using any actual ammo other than blanks though. Its an antique.
