Any evidence for that claim? I'm sorry, but I get very worried when I hear the younger generations speak so cavalierly about such dangerous weapons.
Amen to that! In Norway it's really difficult to get any weapon, or be allowed to contain one in your home. And you know what? We don't need them. Guns (not counting huntingrifles) are tools of war, and should be restricted to that and only that.

Damn that is a nice piece. I'm envious. .22 rifle was my first, around 14 or 15. Looking forward to getting my conceal and carry at 21.

We've got modified FN five-seven's around here, they like the civilian PS-90, fire .223 remington.
That's what unmodified Five-seveNs shoot. The 5.7 round is just a cut down .223 (5.56 mm)

My first gun was a Remington 870 in 20 ga, and I got the bundle, which came with both a bird barrel and a slug barrel. To tell you the truth, it is one of my favorite shotguns, and it will take care of anything from rabbits to whitetail deer without much trouble. I also own a Savage model 110 bolt action .270, a Ruger 10/22 rifle, and a Winchester 1300 12 ga. (since Winchester was bought out, the 1300 is no longer in production, making parts a bit hard to find, but it is still the most accurate shotgun i have ever had the pleasure of using.)

I wouldn't confuse .223 with 5.56 though. The casings are shaped a bit differently, and firing a 5.56 in a gun chambered special for .223 can be disasterious, course vice-versa it's alright. It's only on the 5.56 the casing that's the problem with it being stronger and designed to create more pressure during bullet expelling, so .223 can fit well in a gun specially chambered for 5.56.

1871 Enfield Black Powder Musket. Second gun, a colt 45. I keep it assembled in a firesafe deadbolted into the wall, it and my other guns. Keys to the trigger locks and ammo for said guns in a different safe in the attic. An unloaded gun scares people off just as well as the loaded version.

Endless plinking fun.

If I ever take gun ownership as a hobby - well...

The lahti-20 would be nice.

Wow, disinformation ahoy. The armour piercing ammunition for the FN is only available to police and law enforcement. The claim that gun owners were more likely to be shot by their own weapons was based on a study of not of private citizens, but of police officers, who in gun circles have notoriously lax gun handling habits. And also tend to lose far more weapons proportionately than private gun owners, but that's neither here nor there.
Oh sorry. I heard back in 2005 that it was federally restricted to civilian ownership due to the possibility of it fitting the rifle-esque SS190 ammunition. However a Google search revealed that the federal ban didn't go through and is legal even in California.

However there's still an effort to ban it's import to the U.S. due to it's involvement in the Fort Hood shooting and the assassinations of several Mexican public figures by cartels who illegally acquired the SS190 rounds.

What was it? or if you will be a gun owner Which one will you buy?

Serious answers are appreciated (someone will say BFG 9000) but whatever, have fun with it.

EDIT: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. THIS ISNT A THREAD ABOUT GUN RIGHTS! IF YOU DONT WANT ONE THEN FINE! STOP JUDGING THOSE WHO WILL BUY ONE OR ALREADY OWN ONE. Take your opinions to the right place, they will be appreciated and this is not the right thread to start a gun ownership debate.
I don't care about people owning guns but I find the comment about how society is progressing to be very narrow minded.

Modern North American society is better then ever. More people have more rights then ever before. Technology has made life easier then ever before. People are healthier and live longer then ever before. Also, people are now safer then ever before.

All in all, the modern society kicks ass.
If you want to get serious then no we are less free than when the British ruled us, I could possibly get fired from a corporate job for saying a female/male coworker is hot, not in a offensive way, just "Yea she is pretty hot" a person can get fired for that, how is that for free speech.

I don't own a gun my self but there's a shotgun in my family (I think it's a Remington) that I've shot. If I was going to buy a gun for myself I would have to put more research into it, but lately I've had my eye on this beautiful baby:

A Beretta 90two. It looks beautiful and ergonomic, and the Beretta 92 series seems popular and well-tested enough. And from what I've read the 90two just improves on that.

If I ever do buy a gun, one that would fit into my sleeve like in Desperado. Spring-loaders and all. Two is always better than one.
