Your First Metal Band?

I'm just curious what band got you good folks into the awesome genre that is metal.
In my case it has to be My Hero Is Me-Rated R For Rambunctious, the sweeping intro made me drool and spawned a craving for having angry men growl at me.......in a completely non sexual way

Same here , though I listened to Evanescence and Linkin Park as well. They aren't that "metally" I suppose.

Now I listen to bands like within temptation, sonata arctica etc. - not much of a change I don't think to be honest. I do listen to other kinds of music as well though.

I never got too much into metal but I like the real heavy bands like Maiden: they didn't have too many power ballads.

Kiss got me into rock, Metallica got me into metal in general, then bands like Iced Earth and Hammerfall pulled me into power metal (although I still lisen to the former two).

I think they're considered symphonic power metal. I like them too.
