Your First Metal Band?

My dad was a metalhead when i was young. I can't really remember the "first" band because I was too young, the first one I do remember hearing was Slayer when i was 5 blasting through my house and the rest is history, metal CAN bring family together!

I was in one called something like "Screaming Brain" or something to that effect.

Oh, wait.. my first metal band that I listened to? Metallica, duh!

Judas Priest. Father was a huge fan, was pretty much introduced to them from birth.

Toxicity is still one of my top 5 albums, methinks.

My mom used to play Metallica and Ozzy when I was an infant to calm me down. In essence, metal was my first music genre ever.

Metallica - Enter Sandman, when I was around 12. I was at a dance recital and one of the other groups used it as their song. I instantly loved it.

twas Iron Maiden for me. a friend of mine borrowed an album from another, and put it on his x-box, it was the first thing to play whenever x-bomberbox started up, needless to say we played it alot, i have never looked back

Too far back to remember, really. I guess something like Stone Sour got me into metal really, starting off with their softer songs then going into the actual metal stuff.

But I can't really remember so don't go entirely on that one.

For me it was Slipknot, in 1999 when i was about 9. Everyone at school was scared of them so in turn that just drew me to them

After that it was Motorhead, Maiden, Black Sabbath and of course Metallica who remain my faviorite band to this day

Mine would have to be Econoline Crush from when I herd them in the game Sled Storm. I still listin to them today alot.

Black Sabbath is the first I heard. Probably the best band to get you into the genre since they kinda started it in a way.

System of a Down. Heard STA at a friends, bought Toxicity as my first proper album a week later.

Similar story here. Heard "Ariels" on the radio driving home from a camping trip with my scout troop, and while it ended up being one of my least favorite SOAD songs in the end, it's what got me hooked in the first place.

It also introduced me to pirating. I didn't have the money to go out and by the album properly. This was years ago, though. I hypocritically do not condone pirating in any way.

Afterwards, my friend introduced me to Nightwish, Mercernary, Soilwork and a couple other bands

(some people are of the belief the metalcore is not metal. I believe it's just another variety of metal. It also started my metalheadedness)
