Well, theres my actual first post, which was pointless. Then there was my first post as a member of this community, which was some time after i signed up. That is the post i consider to be my first, its the one that made me want to stick around.

I told La-le-lo-lu about my twin colt 45's and my friend alex who's a gun nut. Thats what i consider to be the first post of the infamous Grim.

I remember registering specifically to post in a certain thread, "Poll:Is it wrong to be a social shapeshifter?"

Spoiler: Too long to find the link to my post, so here's the post itself.

Short response: no, it's not wrong.

Long response: No, it's not wrong. Expressing one's self is all well and good, but there is no sane reason to not do at least a little code-switching in social situations unless you're literally always around the same sort of people.

The moral of "Be Yourself" always struck me as sort of misplaced. In American and other individualistic cultures, it's always interpreted in a very broad way that really comes across as preaching to the choir (and in more collectivistic cultures, it's counterproductive). The real moral of "be yourself" is more along the lines of "don't be an obsequious boot-licker and/or succumb easily to peer pressure." Those sorts of acts are contemptible at best, self-destructive at worst.

But, just like in many cases, the overtones of a word or phrase don't usually keep up with its broadening meaning, so "social shapeshifting" seems to keep a connotation of "self denial" to, I would presume, most of the people who answered "yes" to this poll. It's really nothing of the sort.

Not...terribly bad, as far as first posts go. And my thoughts on the matter haven't changed. There's no reason to avoid acting differently around other people as the case calls for (you just have to know what the case is).

After having looked back to find how/when I came to The Escapist, I decided to look at my first post which was apparently 2 months after I registered. Nothing too original, just replying to a thread question. It was in a thread asking what you'd do with console commands and me binding hand and head movements to notarget and noclip. Also money. Unfortunately I forgot to add a save point...
Anyway, to the point of the thread! What was your first post? Are you proud of it? Do you think it is particularly Original/Funny/Etc?
Or, if you intensely dislike your first post, use another persons that you liked. Give credit!

My first post was in a thread called "The stupidest way you have hurt yourself" LOL

talking about how I broke my leg and the other time I splattered hot plastic all over myself >.<

Im not sure im proud of the post, but I have the scars (literally) to prove my injuries.
