Baldur's Gate, was introduced to me by a friend, and ever since i loved even more the second one!
Pokemon Blue on my cousin's emulator. I didn't visit him enough to actually get far myself though. Plus I was tiny, so I didn't train well. My first RPG when I was a decent age was Final Fantasy 8. I'm still stuck on disc 3 just because I don't know where to go.

Yep, grab your sheets of graph paper because we don't automap for ya. Make sure you have enough food and water because your cleric doesn't have that spell yet. Put your tough guys in front of your party order box. This game didn't care if you lived, died, or grew mushrooms on your boots.
I have also played Pools of Radiance which had crappier graphic but a slightly better interface.

Also, Grandia is a great game. Got it for $30 the other day brand new. I quite liked II as well. I heard III kind of sucked.

Grandia 3 had the most polished combat, and the second worst plot. Battles dragged on a tad, though. Grandia Xtreme was JUST RIGHT. But didn't really have a plot...
Having spent my younger years growing up in Japan, I vaguely remember playing Dragon Quest 3, however, I was a bit too young and my memories of the game are foggy.
My "real" first RPG would have to be Final Fantasy 6.
It gives me the warm fuzzies just thinking about that one. It's the only game that I have ever owned that I tried to find all the secret weapons while thumbing through the strategy guide for countless hours.
I still purchase new installments of the FF series trying to recapture the enjoyment with no success

Sorry... my mistake.. I must have gotten you mixed up with someone else. I was sure you ranted on about people only liking it because they were 13 or 4 when they first played it.Onyx Oblivion said:

It's interesting that you liked extreme also. It was never released here sadly, but from everything I've read it was the worst one, apparently.
