Prototype. protecting a dude behind glass from onslaughts of mutants. fine and dandy, i kill 500 mutants before breakfast...until i discover that my attacks damage the glass too, rendering my sweeping attack with the stretchy claw thing more dangerous to my mission than the enemies.
Yeah, that level has made me ragequit too many times to count. Two of the times have caused me to abandon the game for months.

Assassin's creed brotherhood, climbing into the castello without being detected i get most the way but run out of crossbow bolts so i throw a knife at a man with his back turned to me. the only reaction i get is "ow that hurt slightly" and alerts everyone. also somehow being detected by a man as i stab his throat alerts the entire castle

When I spent ages trying to complete a side-mission in the first ME; clearing out a base of mercenaries, killing the husks, saving the hostages etc. When I came out my first thought was to save. It was after this I realized my Mako had gone. After looking around for ages I finally looked up only to see that it had spawned ON TOP of the base. I raged considerably.

Oh and fighting Safer Septhiroth at the end of FFVII. Everyone who's played the game remembers Supernova, his attack which has a animation of THREE FUCKING MINUETS. In one fight he used it NINE times. Yep, three times nine = twenty seven mins of a single attack animation.

To rub it in Cloud got confused after the 9th time and proceeded to finish off his teammates and himself.

Europa Universalis: Heir to the Throne is made to piss a person off.

Playing as Rajputana, I had managed to unite all of India except two small vassals and the Maldives. My infamy was stupid high, so I decided to cool down a little while I adjusted the sliders towards centralization and innovative to Westernize. I spread a few colonies out into the Philippines and Africa. Everyone was going great. I finally had some brat heir with the needed seven admin so I wouldn't remain a backwards nation forever, my stability hit three. It was going to be a cakewalk.

Then I was hit by several -stability events and my country spiraled into a twenty year civil war. Every couple of minutes I would get another nationalist revolution event and 3 to 16 more rebel units would pop up somewhere on the map. Assam, Delhi, Kashmir, Bihar, Maharashtra, Vijayanagara, Bengal, Nepal, and Bhutan all managed to declare independence at one point or another before I finally managed to contain the last few pretender armies in what was Bhutan. But to do this I had to lose a point in centralization and innovation. The heir died of disease, and Spain annexed my African colonies(I was only gaining .1 colonies per year anyway,) cutting me off from Westernizing for the moment beyond Muslim technology.

I was fucking pissed.

Then there's trying to create Germany inside the bounds of the Holy Roman Empire. +4.5 infamy a year because I illegally occupy imperial territory? 150 infamy. Goddammit.

Or playing one of the new world Indian nations. Spending the entire game trying to hold together your empire, and having the Spanish suddenly declare war and insta-annex every province they touch while their 3000 man army routs your 20,000 strong army.

In Assassin's Creed(and 2 and Brotherhood) challenges where you aren't allowed to be detected, and I nutralize a guard with a throwing knife. Even though he wasn't even looking at me, this attack instantly alerts the guard to full red before he dies, thereby making me desynch. What the hell? It doesn't matter if he noticed me at that point, because he died before he could call for help! And half the time there's no way he even knew where the knife CAME FROM! And yet the gun draws no attention unless a guard is already looking at you. It's a GUN! They go BANG! Said bang should ALERT GUARDS WITHIN EARSHOT! And yet apparently guards can't hear a gun going off but can tell exactly the position of a knife thrower by the disturbances in the air!
This only apply it to every stealth game I have ever freaking played.

Dante's Inferno when your down to the challenges is my personnel hell, only one of them though, that damn air attack section, shit it's not like Dante's a helicopter attack platform or something and I'd always get the clock to like a second to go and then hit the ground >.<
That entire game was a giant "what the fuck" to me. And not in a good MGS2 way.

You do know there were guns on the floor? That level was easy. It's the reason I leveled using weapons. I knew I'd lose my god-like tentacle powers.

My very first one was the second sneak mission in the first Harry Potter game. The guy who I was supposed to avoid would catch me each time, and I just eventually gave up on it.

Then there was the Two Faced Tanner mission in GTAIII, where you had to kill a double agent. As soon as you attacked him though, police would ram you out of nowhere and destroy you in less than five seconds.

Playing Golden Sun the Dark Dawn, the tower we've been repeatedly told not to activate is activated by one of our desperate allies, while my back is turned dealing with a boss fight. The thing that occurs to me is that he suffered no reprocussions for unleashing hell on the world, and I could have stopped him using one of the fifty Dijinn I was carrying at the time. Oh but the game needed a plot, Oh come the fuck on.

Getting in a gunfight with anyone using a famas, AUG, AK74u, or galil in Black Ops. As well as getting spawn killed 19 times in a row by a chopper gunner that a 7 and 19 player got in a carepackage. Also people who use ghost, and the utter lack of bullet penetration in the game unless you have hardened.

And creepers.
I think the thing that pisses me off the most is when I start shooting a guy first yet he somehow is able to kill me.
What really adds insult to injury is when you watch the killcam, and it shows your character as not even firing once.

Not really a gameplay element but:

In one of my more recent games of Empire: Total War, I was playing as Prussia, and I only needed Denmark to win. I was in perfect position to take if (Sweden had it, it was undefended, and they were my ally with military access). Unfortunatly it was getting late so I decided to hit the hay. Next morning I wake up.... Save file corrupted.......

You know that you can actually counter attack if an enemy attacks you during an execution streak, even if it interrupts your current animation? That helped me tremendously. You can't do it with brutes or spearmen, but they attack less often and I target them first.
Yes I know that and I do use it when I can, but what I was talking about was when you press the attack button with someone highlighted to continue your execution streak and all he does is swing the sword or whatever at them instead of killing them.

Fable III. Be incredibly nice the entire game only for everyone to die and the few who lived hate you or be incredibly bad and by the end everyone loves you and lives. I had horns on my head and farted on peoples faces till they vomited. Whats not to love? Go F*** urself Fable III!

Let's see... the Venus Dragon on the original Golden Sun for GBA. I seriously thought the game was shitting me for having the dragon use a move called "Outer Space". What the crap does that even do besides beat the ever living crap out of all of your party members? Same goes for the final boss on Final Fantasy IV and the move "Big Bang". Good Lord, I never saw either of those moves coming. The first time I encountered that move, it wiped my whole party.

I want you to imagine something you have just started playing assinsins creed brotherhood and your having and completing these full sync without even trying then all of a sudden you get to the mission where you have to sneak into this castle without detection
doesnt sound hard right?
WRONG
at first it wasnt hard because the guards are the dummest assholes you could hire but then for no FUCKING reason they can suddenly detect you if they see a corner of your cape so after i dont even know how long i finally said fuck it and charged through finished and then the game rubbed it in my face that i didnt get the full sync also the romulus hideouts that want you to get through them in 8 minutes ONLY 8?! if you dont know where your going you get lost in the maze then while i had to climb this pillar 5 people where throwing rocks at me so i failed that time limit as well and ill be dammed if im going to try for the 30th fucking time!
and the last problem i have is that i had to assasinate this captian of a tower so i decide to shoot him cause hes on a horse and i cant get him cause hes a coward and runs away so i am at him and as a soldier walks past ezio shoots the soldier instead captian runs and i have to wait untill he comes back.
Try the mission with running to get to apple and the only way to get 100% sync is to not kill anyone.

Easy? NO.

As soon as you get off the castle, you got the whole guard on your ass and the only way to even get the apple is to be anonymous even when you have say at least 20+ people chasing you!

Oh, by the way, YOUR'E FREAKING TIMED!

The checkpoint system in any FPS, and the times where it checkpoints you at the most horrible moments, for example, while playin Black Ops I got a checkpoint at a time where I had very low health and their was a grenade just feet from me, load-die-load-die-load-die, it was very frustraring.
