Deadwood is the place where Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane died. It also got it's own TV show.

Shrewsbury, England. Birthplace of Charles Darwin. Now how many cookies do I get and what flavours?

Plus I think the late great John Peel was educated here too

Our claim to fame is that our public school sports teams are all called the "Braves" (complete with Native American mascot, because at least it's not a racist cartoon like the Redskins), so at sporting events, at the end of the national anthem everyone from here shouts "BRAVES!" instead of singing "brave".

Yeah my hometown is kind of fucking lame.

Portsmouth, south UK.

The UK's naval port, home to the HMS victory Nelson's favourite flagship where he died on deck during the battle of Trafalgar, also home to the HMS warrior.

Charles Dickens birthplace (literally a 2 minute walk from my parent's house).

The D-day Museum.

The UK's only island city, mainly built on portsea island.

Owen Sound, Ontario, is effectively the home town of Tom Tompson, a famous Canadian painter who suffered a mysterious death, and Billy Bishop, who was (arguably, since there was always embellishment) the top Allied Ace of WW1 (and by worst case estimates, he was still the top Canadian Ace by a fair margin).

I live in Worksop (A town in Nottinghamshire, England) so I guess we have one golfer (lee Westwood) and a football manager (Graham Taylor). Other than that I think we were heroin capital of Europe at one time.

New Bedford Massachusetts use to be the worlds wealthiest town during the 18th and 19th centuries and apparently was visited by several abolitionists during the time.

I dunno... the royal family popped in for a visit a few times. Also we have an obnoxious ripoff of the Hollywood sign. And a bad reputation with the rest of Blighty.

The general area I live in has the place where "Yankee Doodle" was written, one of the oldest churches in the nation, and the birthplace of Uncle Sam.

My specific hometown, however, is best known for having the highest concentration of white trash in the county.
Are you from Troy, New York?

Liverpool UK, home of the longest surviving top flight football team, the largest neo classical building in England, and some band called The Beatles :p

Of course the city is most famous for being the final resting place of all stolen car radios in the country :D
