What were the last 5 games you bought? Does it say anything about your game preferences? Or were they experiments into the unknown for you?

Also, what are your next 5 purchases lining up to be?

My last 5 games were, in order of oldest to newest;

-Darksiders (Because it reminded me of LoZ, which was a good thing. Sadly, too short, though.)
-Far Cry 2 (Took me a while to get into, but I was setting epic brush fires in no time.)
-Modern Warfare 2 (Got pressured into getting it by a friend, and enjoy it as an arcade-type shooter, occasionally.)
-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (To play co-op with my wife, as we loved teaming up in the first one. Also, I'm a comics geek.)
-Just Cause 2 (Huge sandbox fan, obviously. And this game is my new favorite of the genre.)

My next 5 planned purchases are, in no particular order;

-Red Dead Redemption (Which looks to be set to take JC2 down from my top spot.)
-Splinter Cell: Conviction (Even though I've never played a SC game before, it has caught enough of my interest thus far to warrant a look.)
-Dead Rising 2 (OMGZOMBIEMASHINFUNWTFBBBBQMULTIPLAYER?!?!?)
-Fallout: New Vegas (I pretty much have to. HAVE TO.)
-Mafia 2 (Again, I love sandbox games.)

So, what's on your lists? Do you buy only one genre? Branch out into others? Or are you jack of all games?

Demon's Souls -> Batman: Arkham Asylum -> Heavy Rain -> God of War III: Ultimate Edition -> Final Fantasy XIII .

Just to clarify, Dante's Inferno is inferior to God of War III. Dante's Inferno by itself, it's a fun game but it doesn't redefine a thing.

For my next five, I really don't think that far ahead. I do know that I will be buying Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty and Diablo III whenever they come out if that helps.

And my next 5 will be -
Super Street Fighter 4 - PS3

Lets see.. From most recently bought and downwards (these are all on PC):

1) Metro 2033 - Pretty good game, gameplay is a bit overrated but it does some things different which is good. Kinda dull to look at though... it proves that just because a game is technically demanding does not mean it's actually pretty. Yes it throws a lot of nice effects in my face that take up a lot of my computer power but that doesn't make it nice to look at in the same way Crysis is nice to look at. Almost all of the game is set in dark, boring underground tunnels which don't make the most of the technology behind it.

2) The Longest Journey - Great old adventure game that I have fond memories of but never owned an original copy of.

3) Deus Ex. - Didn't like it, it hasn't aged well in terms of gameplay and by today's standards it's mediocre. Yeah I said it.

4) Assassin's Creed II - Excellent game that I played a few months ago on an Xbox360 but wanted to own my own copy of on my PC. Don't care much about the DRM which is easily circumvented with a crack and I don't understand why people get so annoyed about it.

5) Guild Wars - My most recent effort to attempt (in vain) to understand why people actually play these shitty MMO games. Needless to say I still have no bloody idea how people get so addicted to these bland games and I've decided after this I'm not going to try anymore. It was only $15 though and I got a mousemat with it (I really needed a mousemat!)

And my next few purchases will include, Splinter Cell Conviction (assuming it's actually good) Alpha Protocol (also assuming its good) and possibly Blur. Nothing else I'm really interested in in the near future.

What does this say about me? Don't know really :O

And you honestly think that the God of War series has redefined a genre?
At least Dante's Inferno has a different plot, rather than basically rehashing the plot of a previous game, having the same combat, and updating the graphics.

I bought all my big games at Christmas, so my last 5 purchases were all casual games.

Future:
--------
*Dragon Age (when I get a new computer, mine won't play it).
*Batman: Arkham Asylum (Not buying it till Arkham Unleashed is out).
*American McGee's Alice 2 (Probably won't be out for a few years).
*Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse.
*Serious Sam HD & Serous Sam 3 (They're taking their sweet time with 3).
*Portal (The game everyone insists I buy that I keep forgetting to get).

Do you know what the hell "Free-form fighting" is in an action game? This is what pisses me off.

When I play Devil May Cry and I hit "SQUARE, SQUARE, SQUARE." Tell me what it does. I'll tell you. I swing three times forward. I can move the analog stick to do what? Move in a grid and swing pathetically. It's the same thing in Dante's Inferno. In other words, you can only face eight separate directions to hit opponents.

God of War on the other hand, you can move the analog stick whenever you want giving you a full 360 degrees of combat. This makes it much more diverse, smooth, with absolutely no delay or mishaps. THAT's why it redefined action games. All you blundering morons can't see that control is a necessity. It's why I can't fucking stand Devil May Cry games. It's too linear. Darksiders is the same way. Dante's Inferno is hardly any better.

God of War is the best of it's genre for the creativity control scheme that other games fail to grasp. Graphics, QTE, gore, and story aside, it's the unique controls that make it steal Gold.

Ok, that's fine and all, but I don't think the insult was necessary.

...really? How many forums have you attended all your life? If you don't add insult to injury, no one learns. When you go beyond an immature level, that's when it's crossing the line. What I did is socially acceptable.

Well, the plot immediately is more interesting than the god of war series (I've played the first 3, I'm never going to play 3, deal with it) in Dante's Inferno. The visuals are more engaging and the fights are just gruesome, on top of that you can choose different paths to take with your abilities, whereas GoW you just level up weaponswith no choice about what abilities you ultimately want to learn (also ripped off from Devil May Cry and Onimusha).
The plot for God of War is mediocre, I wish people would just accept that.
The series brings nothing new to the table, it's repetitive, unoriginal and ultimately boring. I'm so sick of people saying it's a system seller.
Feel free to respond to this, but I'm not going to reply to your message, so I wouldn't waste the kilobytes if I were you.
Also, I never even mentioned Devil May Cry in my original post, you brought that up, so I wonder who are you trying to convince? Me, or yourself?
