Mines fairly standard. Tidus' voice acting/dialogue in FFX. Complaints about the VA were often largely exaggerated or misinterpreted (for example everyone always posts the video where Tidus is meant to be laughing unrealistically and manically. It's meant to be the laugh of someone so pent up and frustrated that when they try to laugh it scares the people around them a little bit. And then people point to it and say 'wow that was manic and unrealistic. This VA sucks' even though 5 seconds later they laugh normally)

...but despite all that it's still pretty cringey and there's plenty of awkward moments that didn't need to be awkward.


All my favourite games have pretty easily identifiable faults actually. KotoR 2 has the combat slog in the ending and a really long prologue. Planescape: Torment has awful combat and a long stretch of utterly awful gameplay in the middle. Alpha Protocol has bad combat and some of the story elements don't completely make sense. The choice system in Katawa Shoujo is pretty badly implemented. I really didn't like the ending to To The Moon, I didn't agree with the solution as a happy solution. There are parts of Deus Ex: Human Revolution where the story stuff isn't really progressing and the gameplay is getting a little tiring. Heavy Rain's story doesn't make sense and is really exploitative of the women in it. Valkyria Chronicles chops up it's story into unnecessary little bits. EDIT: Also the beginning and ending to ME1. And the collector segments of ME2, I really hated those and they added nothing to the story and were a pain gameplay wise. And the continuous mud-grey-black worlds of ME3. And in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the way you were encouraged to go to the home base after each mission and they weren't continuous

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) is ... really good?

Final Fantasy X: Win the Chocobo race in 0 seconds. I don't think I need to elaborate, but I will say that I've developed a blood rage against Seagulls thanks to that.

I don't have a favorite game, only favorite games

Hard Corp's Uprising escort mission part in stage 5, while doctor Mandrake isn't hard to keep alive, he is goddamn annoying, he runs slower than you run,but faster than you walk, and since he's so slow, you will lose his multiplier by the time he's catched up to you, and he has trouble going up stairs

Altough stage 5 is my favorite because the music is simply awesome

Castlevania hd: Dracula's seduction attack in chapter 6, i main Shanoa, and that attack hypnotizes the women in the group to attack their teammates, i can't reliably avoid it, and you also take damage from Dracula himself while it lasts, you lose about 1/3 of your health whenever you touch Dracula, so i have to use Jonathan whenever i play that chapter, not that i hate Jonathan, but i'd like to use my main without a disadvantage

Tales of Vesperia's final dungeon, it is very, very confusing, i spent hours trying to solve a puzzle i had already solved, just because the entrance and exit looked the same

I wouldn't classify DAO as one of my favorite games, but i hated the fade as well,why couldn't you just punch the sloth demon in the face instead of talking to it and letting it hypnotize you?
And it is confusing as hell, more so than ToV's final dungeon

That seems to be par for the course in a lot of English VA for Japanese games, I've noticed...

More OT: The first Bioshock - Everything after you meet Andrew Ryan. Might as well just stop playing the game then and there and create your own ending.

The final shootout arena in Bioshock Infinite on 1999 Mode as well. I'm still convinced I would never be able to recreate how I eventually lucked out and beat it.

Pretty much everything involving Jacob in Mass Effect 2, with a tentative mention for Miranda as well just because I do kinda like her loyalty mission.

Quina in Final Fantasy IX. Comic relief characters are extremely hit-or-miss with me, and when you add in almost completely randomized elements for both their normal physical attacks and their magical abilities, that's a perfect way to make me not care about ever putting that character in my party if I can help it.

The special stages in Sonic the Hedgehog. The stage rotation has thrown me into those goal balls more times than I care to count. And you don't even get anything cool for collecting all of them like in Sonic 2 or Sonic 3, either.

Speaking of Sonic 3, the boss fight with Robotnik at the end of Launch Base Zone if you die or otherwise end up with no rings. Or while playing as Knuckles. Also Sandopolis Act 2 when & Knuckles is attached. I can zoom through it easily enough now, but those ghosts were horrifying combined with the massive maze and confusing sand slides when I was younger.

Oh, and Carnival Night Act 2.

That goddamn barrel.

Right now I'm playing the Last of Us, and I feel that there just too many stealth sections. Hell, I feel like there's more stealth here than in Assassins Creed.
Umm... The last of us is a stealth game...

Anyways, no particular favorite game, but the intro to Skyrim set the tone so poorly I feel like it warrants a mention. "This is a huge open world game about exploration and choice. You will start in an unskippable on the rails sequence wherein you can not interact with anything at all whatsoever." I mean obviously you have to start out in a controlled environment to teach the player the mechanics but it was handled much better in oblivion.

Also, spec ops the line starts out with a sequence from the middle of the game, and then when it gets back to it your character says "Wait, I feel like we've done this before." Spec Ops is a game that's open to interpretation and it does have a very thin fourth wall, but I felt like that line of dialog shatters it. It's one of the few stains on a game that's otherwise almost perfectly realized.

Jak 2 and 3 had the worst escort missions to ever exist.

I don't really know my favourite game, but here's an example:

Oblivion: There's this bit near the end were you have to ask every major city to send troops to a big battle up in a city called Bruma to fight the "Great Oblivion Gate". But when you reach each city an Oblivion Gate or two pops up outside each one and they won't send troops until you and ONLY you deal with it. There are over 200 Oblivion Gates in the game but these specific 8 or so have some of the most aggravating and most insultingly awful level designs I've ever seen in an Action RPG.

You don't have to do them but if you don't good luck dealing with the unfair difficulty curve of fighting the Great Oblivion Gate with about 3 major characters and 6 guards.

Escort missions.....they fuck up every game ever that ive liked. Thing is, all they need is a "Stay hidden till i get back" option and it would be perfect. Hated escort in Morrowind and recently in Dead Island. In dead island there is that one mission where the idiot voodoo guy runs into zombies.....alot of zombies. An if your low level or dont have the right weapons....then there is no way you will get past that level.

Nier - Kaine's character design
I can go on a lengthy rant on how much I love Nier, it's games like that why multiple playthoughs exist. But Kaine.... her characters is great, I love her foul mouthed ways, her lingerie outfit not so much.

The game actually comes up with a interesting reasoning behind the male-gaziness of it, but I mean you really have to go looking for it. The reason is barely hinted at in the game and only full out stated in a companion book that was EXCLUSIVE to japan. Thankfully translated by fans but still it seems an important detail to make known about her character.

Even with the explanation the design is still pretty pandering and distracting. It's enough of a problem that always takes a bit away from the game for me.

Kaine's replicant body was born intersex and was terribly bullied by the people around her. So as a defiance of sorts, she opted to wear clothes to show her femininity

Sure it had its fair share a fuckload of problems but as with TES: mods are gods.

But it was a terrible port. The fact it wasn't large address aware to begin with (and the fact that a mod community fix came considerably earlier than the official is lulzy), and being a 32 bit exe is disappointing.
Also the way equipping worked, for equipment and for magic made the already mediocre combat limiting. Especially for the modding community.

I absolutely love the original Mass Effect, but its got a couple of flaws. I choose to mention the overheating weapons because they were irritating, and I choose to mention that goddamn POS Mako because it almost caused me to have a brain hemorrhage on numerous occasions.

Fuck you Mako, fuck you.

she only has one instant kill move. It is when she fake cries. sometimes she is actually crying and you can attack her. although from my experience right after she gets up from fake or real crying she is vulnerable to attack any way. There is no point taking a risk of misjudging If she has one hand on the bat or not attack when you can alway wait to attack her the moment she gets up from crying. Once you know this her one and only instant kill move is utterly ineffective.

Mass Effect 1: While it is my least favourite game of the series, I will say that my absolute most hated game from that series was the god damn pistol. Pistols in ME1 were so good that they literally removed the purpose for using any other weapons. Additionally, the fact that tech powers were horribly weak was the icing on the cake.

Super Smash Bros. Melee: The lack of a random character option. Sometimes I don't want to know who I'm playing, or I want to play against random opponents. The lack of a random option makes me extremely disapointed.

A few:

Metal Gear Solid 2: Fighting the Ray's near the end. I'm sure most people don't have a problem with it but I always seem have trouble with it, so I dread it when I do a playthrough. Plus all the other boss fights in the game are fun, or at least I found fun, that one is just infuriating.

Mass Effect 2: The derelict Reaper. Scions in close quarters with no real strategic cover? No thanks.

WarCraft 3: Some of those non-base missions drove me up the wall, especially the Night Elf ones.

Modern Warfare 2: The favela, the goddamn favela. I've never been able to beat it on anything higher than casual to this day.

The Manta Ray surfing levels in Super Mario Galaxy. Not only do you have to tilt the Wii remote to steer left and right, but you also have to shake it to jump, so if you turn it too fast sometimes the game can interpret it as a shake instead of a tilt. It's also unnecessary because there are only two actions you can do in this part and the controller has more than enough buttons and levers to replicate them without the need for motion controls (unlike the normal platforming segments, where there's no easily accessible button you can use for the spin attack that isn't already used for something else). The rest of the game uses motion controls fantastically, it's just this part that really sucks.

Timesplitters bosses are shitty. Just shoot it till it dies, mostly. The most interesting are disabling the tank and placing TNT on it's rear, shooting Princess's eye (who actually can be killed before she even bothers to reveal it), using the harpoon gun on the canister in her mouth during the second encounter with her (as opposed to other weapons) and Splitter Crow having multiple choice as to which parts to disable before dealing damage to his previously exploded behind, these being his feet and arms. All of these are from Future Perfect, which is when they were polishing the Timesplitters experience in various ways.
