I don't know why everyone's hating on Farcry 2. I'm about 10 hours in, and playing stealthily, and pulling off an assassination without anyone knowing you're there with a Silent Makarov is quite a thrill.
However, I got it only last Christmas from a cousin, so the fact I didn't pay for it and am not experiencing any sort of hype-train probably makes it a better experience. So, lesson is, only play a game and judge it based on its own merits, not by the hype around it or what developer's name is plastered on the the bottom of the box-art.
I'd have to say the biggest disappointment for me recently was God of War 3. Sure, it was awesome, but it felt far too samey. If I hadn't played the previous 2 and done hardest difficulty runs on both, maybe I would have enjoyed it more. I don't know. Oh, and Assassin's Creed. I didn't mind the repetitive side-missions as much as I hated the fact it was impossible to stealthily do any of the 9 assassination missions. I think I managed to pull off one where the target was deep into a castle, and I scaled the walls and used throwing knives to take out the archers on the walls. But still, you can't do that "crowd stealth" thing all the time.
Okay, end rant.
