When they stick rap into a song. Into every single song. As in, I am enjoying my music, with the singer I like, then some random not-very-good rapper comes in, sings about something completely unrelated, usually about how awesome they are and something about hoes, and then the song continues.

Example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FlQSQuv_mg
to be fair Maroon 5 are pretty awful whatever you add in :p (I kid..I kid)
I absolutely despise rap music, personally. That said, one good example of it making up a small part of a song is Red Hot Chili Peppers. Anthony Keidis is pretty good at it, and because it's only a small part it comes off unique.

Mainly it makes me appreciate the actual singing in that song even more.

Creepy screamo/growling instead of singing. I will never understand why people would listen to something they can't understand and sounds silly.
This. A million times this.

Also, I dislike any rap I've heard thus far, it's just a person talking. If I wanted that, I'd listen to poetry readings (and those can actually be pretty cool).

Oh, the facepalm...

The woman is actually singing. The voice actor is an opera singer, but because she's voicing an AI, they but a robotic effect on her voice. So she sings properly, and they make her voice robotic. They do NOT autotune her. Christ...

Edit: sorry, it just really annoys me. I guess it's an easy mistake to make.

Stereotypical songs of any genre bug the hell out of me.

For example:
-Rap/hiphop songs about gangs, ghetto, money, weed, sex, etc.
-Country songs about trucks, girls, beer, etc.
-Metal songs about satan, killing, etc.

EDIT: Now, a song with one of these themes doesn't instantly make it bad, but it better be damn good to make me care about it.

I've often wondered why nobody else I've seen has remarked on how utterly silly it is that there's a serious metal band called "Megadeth", with album titles like Killing is my business, and business is good!. Now, I could understand it if they were like Alestorm, revelling in their silliness, but this Megadeth band seem completely dead serious about what they do and everyone just accepts it as normal. I need an explanation!

Dance music in general. Don't even care what genre, odds are pretty damn good it sucks. It's like, the Michael Bay summer blockbuster.

Most growling and screaming sounds ridiculous. This can ruin a song I otherwise like because I take it about as serious as an LMFAO song.

Things that erk me are people who spout some pretentious bullshit to defend some piece of complete utter gutter scum of a song or piece of music.

Otherwise, My pet peeve can also be "People who think Dubstep isn't already well over ten years old"

I also dislike Eminem, How many times can you rap about your mother and Vicodin I do not know.

I enjoy heavy music, so when I listen to a new song and I'm really enjoying it because it sounds pretty damn decent. But then it happens. Fucking singing. Singing like someone has their testicles in a vice.

It just sounds so stupid and completely breaks the flow of the song, it just annoys me. It also seems to be the 'only' way to make music.

Intro, Verse, Annoying chorus with stupid singing, 'br00t4' binary breakdown (as someone has already mentioned)

grrr angry face

Probably when the singer repeats a phrase, the title mostly to a uninspired beat and then practice there levels to sound 'deep'. Whilst there as some songs I like that do this (Moves like Jagger had a pretty good beat) songs like Swagger Jagger committed the cardinal sin. Now if you'll excuse me I'll Liston to my Swedish House and classic Rossini

Acoustic songs with way too audible guitar squeaks, from the strings or something. To me it sounds like: "Look, I'm playing this acoustically, aren't I sensitive and sophisticated? WELL?! ISN'T IT BRILLIANT?!"

you don't need to say pretentious things to defend ones music

you just have to say "I like it, it makes me feel x"...because in the end that's all there is to it

1) You complain about repetitiveness in the lyrics but the music is exactly the same, atleast for the first 30 seconds?

2) More repetitive music and lyrics, I assume with this style of music keeping it slow and peaceful wont keep it's fans happy, so they had to change it quickly.

On topic. I can agree with number 4, especially with pop music, every fucking song is either love or sex. Sex is more done in rap but Rihanna is keeping sex in pop all by herself!

My biggest complaint is definitely how repetitive a lot of songs can be. At about half way through the song I feel like I have listened to it a million times or it's been on an hour. Just this same constant tune and they same lyrics over and over ... it's a form of torture!

Tell me you don't get the same feeling while listening to this ...

After reading some other posts, bands that can't make up there minds about which vocal style they want. Kitty and Kill switch engage I am looking at you.

Constant growling, dying fetus and such bands ... what the fuck are they "singing" about? Can anybody seriously understand it or what?

What I like to call warbling, Christina Aguilera is one guilty futher mucker for this. Instead of holding a note, she changes it's pitch or something ... she usually does it on things like "YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH"

I hate it when people use the word "soulful." It's a nonsense word, but it usually means people who use too much melisma and stretch out / mispronounce words pointlessly like they do on American Idol. I can't stand it. I also loathe Amy Winehouse and any Amy Winehouse clones who only exist because she was unreliable and unproductive when she was alive.

I know, but it's people who do spew some garbage a-top of "I like this because I like this and screw you elitist fagbat".

When something is bad and I mean REALLY bad it's called a guilty pleasure, nothing more it's going out the way to give it some form of artistic meaning, Like calling the song "You a stupid hoe" an outlook on modern culture of the youth of today.

I'm going to sound like a snobby hipster for saying this, but I hate that a lot of pop/rock type music nowadays is literally just catching up to Radiohead now. I never actually listened to them up until this this, but it's amazing listening to "The Bends " or "Ok Computer", it just sounds like it was made yesterday which frustrates me (not them the copycats). I mean these guys are classic, these idiots aping it note for note are a scourge on the earth.
