One of the first indications I saw that Will Smith can do drama, and do it pretty damn well. Very powerful stuff.Furioso said:Thanks for bringing back the flood of memories from that show, easily the saddest thing I had ever watched at the time, great episode and great show.Space Spoons said:Pretty sad, but in my opinion, nothing hits harder than this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxulantPiXI&feature=related] when it comes to sad episodes of comedy shows.
Yeah. The show is normally pretty goofy, so it kind of comes from out of nowhere.PhiMed said:Wow. At the time I first saw it, I never had a dog, only cats, but I still found it seriously emotional. But since then I have one and it's even more emotional than before. Brilliant episode and I never expected it to make my eyes tear up. Well done Mr. Groening.Wolf-AUS said:pretty much, I remember when I first watched it,I was always waiting for the episode to become as humourous as the other. Never thought futurama of all things could evoke such sadness as it did. I wonder if people who have never had dogs find it as emotional, not knowing first hand the connection that is created if you spend a lot of time with your companion.
Not a bad episode by any means, but not the saddest. I think the sad episode of that season was "Lethal Inspection," with the end of "The Mutants Are Revolting" as a close second.Dr. Paine said:In the words of xkcd: "We'd use that episode of Futurama with Fy's dog, but even spambots cry at that."Double A said:Even robots cry at the end. If you dont cry at the end of Jurassic Bark, you're a cold hearted bastard.
I don't cry at it much any more (depends on my mood), but the first time... lots of tears. The music, in my opinion, was absolutely perfect, I once looked it up to listen without the scene... still got teary.
Yet, I've heard one of the newer episodes (The Late Phillip J. Fry, I believe?) was even sadder. Damn inability to watch the new episodes is preventing me from seeing this, though.
Whatever, this episode isn't canon anymore after Bender's Big Score. That dog died quickly and happily after Fry came back to him! LALALALALALALA NOT LISTENING!!!!Korten12 said:If you watched the show you know what episode I am talking about.
I for one found it incredibly sad, as I assume I am not the only one. Especially since I have had a dog die on me, not like this of course but it reminded me of it.
