I found it more emotionally profound than some of the big Oscar-baity dramas that normally release. It's a very sad and touching episode that used it's well-done humor to make all of those happy moments with Seymour that much more sad in retrospect when you eventually see the big shocker in the end. The humor mixed with the melancholy factor creates juxtaposition thus making it more emotionally resound than Precious, which is basically just beating you over the head with misery after misery.

tl;dr (For some reason...?) WAAAAAAAAAAHHH! SEYMMMOOOOOUUUUURRRR!!! *Cries in the corner like a little girl*

Really sad episode. One of the greatest eps of Futurama, and probably one of the greatest pieces of animation of all time. Chokes me up every time.

So glad it was renewed by Comedy Central. Good to know that another company noticed its fantastic quality and decided to treat it with the respect and dignity it definitely deserves (I'm looking at you, Fox.)

The music does it to me all the time. First few times I watched it, heard the music, started to well up. I honestly think it was a good selection. Plus, as a dog owner myself, it touched quite close to home.

I love that episode of Futurama. Why? I like my endings sad.
*high five* Same here. Sad endings are much more powerful and memorable, and stay in your mind long after the show is over. Happy endings are usually easily forgotten.

This episode realy shook me when it showed seymor sit there for the rest of his life. I was expecting a nice 'oh look at that happy/bittersweet moral... wait... the fuck!?'

The one about his brother hits me to.

I like how when the show wants to be deep, it really does dig into what its about, and uses it very effectivly to make you see how even such a colorful cast of funny fake people can still be used to explore the human condition, esspecially when related to such a strange theory as time travel.

The new episode where fry gets lost foward in time was pretty sad to. Sure it was pretty quick for him, but leela and his friends all had to live that depressing final 40 or so years several times while they waited for the 3 to stop being idiots.

Really a great show.

If you watched the show you know what episode I am talking about.

I for one found it incredibly sad, as I assume I am not the only one. Especially since I have had a dog die on me, not like this of course but it reminded me of it.

:(

My opinion?

FUCK YOU GUYS, THAT WAS NOT COOL, THIS IS FUTURAMA, IT'S CRAZY AND FUNNY DAMMIT.

'bursts out crying and runs into corner'

How was the episode of his brother sadder?

Jurassic bark was sad because Fry thought the dog lived a ful happy life, but he wasted his life, waitign for Fry. At least yancy Ha d a good life.

I will say it exactly as David Cohen, executive producer of the show does in the DVD commentary.

Yet, I've heard one of the newer episodes (The Late Phillip J. Fry, I believe?) was even sadder. Damn inability to watch the new episodes is preventing me from seeing this, though.

The Late Philip J. Fry made me cry for half an hour.

I think this comic sums it all up.

You have to hover over for the alt-text to get it, though.

Tragic episode. Futurama is one of the rare shows that can pull a curveball on you like that. The Late Philip J. Fry and The Sting are both similar.

I cried. I cry when the episode starts in anticipation.

The Late Phillip J. Fry gets a few tears as well.

It made me really sad... until I realized that in Bender's Big Score that Fry goes back in time and stays with Seymour until he is flash fossilized. Then I can watch it without tears!
Until that point, even Spam bots teared up at that episode. It'd make even Ebeneezer Scrooge cry.

I cried the first time, When it was called "Mother Simpsons"

... Ok it was a damn good episode but I don't understand why "Mother Simpson" is always just brushed over.
