Invisible walls. Even moreso it's invisible walls when you can still fall off a ledge. It's not enough to make me stop enjoying Bayonetta, but it's god damn annoying.

That or in MMO where you have alligator mobs carrying around gold or 12+ strength purple pantaloons...0o
Obviously they ate someone wearing those +12 strength purple pantaloons, and they just happen to be acid resistant.

I forgot to mention that I hate it when you look down in an FPS and you don't see your body or feet.
Ugh. That drives me insane! It's one of the few things(IMO!) that Halo got right.

I hate how shotguns are rendered almost completely useless. They're fantastic in real life. Great range and with practice, deadly accurate. But no. In games, the bullets just stop and drop straight down after about 1 and a half feet of flying.

Red Dead Redemption is probably one of the most disappointing games I've ever played because of this fact, that and auto aiming which is a huge negative in my eyes.
Isn't it possible to switch to expert targeting, which removes the auto-aim or something? I didn't bother trying it, but it sounds like something you'd have liked trying.

I am not sure this is a pet peeve, as such, but I usually hate games that are nothing more than an ultra masculine character running around killing shit and proving how awesome he is. Ironically, the God of War series is an exception to this, however.

Having to sign up for Games for Windows Live to save my game (You bastard FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage). And then I can't connect to it. Also, picking things up without your hands (Source games mostly).

And when something random makes the buttons stop working (StarCraft II, I'm not bloody downloading anything let me make a custom game!)

When you enter a room or get to a puzzle, it shows you the whole room layout and path to take.

I'd like to solve it myself thank you... Don't need to hold my hand throughout the game. YEAH I'M LOOKING AT YOU PRINCE OF PERSIA.

When there's a ledge you can't climb even though it's like... half a foot high, or the door you can't break down like the last 100 doors. >.<

3rd person shooters when there's a delay in the aiming... say you shift your aim to the left, the crosshar will get there before your gun does so when you fire you don't hit the target... really annoying if you are in a hurry to kill something. Also not being able to shoot and move at the same time (can anyone say resident evil 5?). I mean come on, if zombies are coming at you and you've been killing zombies for a bunch of games it's pretty much a given that you'll be good at running away from the hordes and shooting at them at the same time. Also I think camera angles being fucked is probably the worst thing or the whole brown thing that shooters have going on when you can't see shit or the grey thing like in gears of war one which may as well be played on a black and white TV coz it's so grey

But I think my main annoyance with games is the retardedness of mainstream games. People become obsessed with GOW and Halo and COD that they won't so much as glance at classics like HL2 and the original Half Life, or even good old Vice City. I mean COD is a great game but people just cling to their franchises and end up in denial if their beloved franchise makes a shit game, just like the way some Star Wars fans have to delude themselves into liking everything that is Star Wars. DBZ fans seem to have this problem too (GT anyone?)

Forced first-person sections

It's a relatively new trend, but I absolutely hate it. It was ALRIGHT in God of War 3, but it was just terrible in Vanquish.

Crap PC ports... it just keeps getting worse and worse originally all we had to bother with was poor optimization... but now the optimization is even worse not to mention they've found a way to completely cock up the controls and gameplay...

cheesy voice acting always gets to me and when ever characters are talking and they move too much and overuse gestures as if they are trying so hard to put life in what they are saying.

and when the character you play as dose things in cut scenes you wish you could do in game.

I am not a big fan of the wedged in vehicle sections that have become so common place. They often disrupt the flow and are usually a cover-up for weak core game mechanics.

Unskippable cutscenes.
Unskippable tutorials. (FUCK YOU GS:DD)
Games that decide to take a abrupt turn halfway through the game.

Bad Cameras, and close-up smoke.

Honestly, the smoke. If you can't put it in the game without it dropping the FPS to like 15, well making it so you can't see crap on the other side, well the enemies you were fighting can still see you perfectly, don't friggen put it in, or at least make it more transparent enough that now NPC's don't have the advantage.

Also fall damage. No game has ever really gotten it right yet. Uncharted 2 you had two levels: No damage at all or dead instantly. Just Cause 2 may as well not have had fall damage. FPS' seem to think that landing on your legs from 5 feet up suddenly spurts blood straight into your eyes.

collectibles, bad controls, games that don't allow you to make it your *****(meaning i want to be able to change every tiny details in the options menu, from screen resolution to which button does what.) And i would love to be able to calibrate my interface to fit my needs

Trying to avoid surrealism in stupid ways. Like in Crysis, where you can see your hand reaching out to grab something, rather than just the plain old pick-it-up-instantly that works so beautifully well in all the games beforehand.
Or pretty much the entire concept of Modern Warfare...

Face it devs, surrealism owns. Play Sauerbraten if you don't believe me ^^

The ability to pick objects up without using your hands (Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Half Life 2 and Portal.).
It appears we have some fierce competition here. I don't mind either, but prefer the ones such as in Crysis or Mirrors Edge where you can see your body, just feels more right...

I feel like a pair of floating eyes otherwise.

i have a pet peeve about new vegas, to me, fallout 3 felt Open and free to do whatever i liked. as well as the fact the landscape feels bigger, in new vegas i find its very Cramped, and you are pretty much on rails, and i quite honestly have been getting bored thinking of playing that, something i never had happen with fallout 3

the Multi-player on assassins Creed brotherhood also pisses me off, while i admit the concept and most things done in it can be fun, i dont find it fun, wandering around Pretending to be a Npc in a game known series for sneaking around rooftops and perhaps pouncing when the time is right, the idea of restricting us to the ground seems a bit ubsurd to me, while the idea of say 8 player Assassins fighting off/sneaking around a large horde of guards to assassinate several generals among the forces sounds so much more interesting to me

a game where you have to collect things for like 4 hours (i'm over-exaggerating, but look at the mass effect series: you're brain will melt trying to get that much junk all over the galaxy)
