I liked gladiator. I'd watch it again with a weird retelling of English civil war.

Oh and I predict obscene historical license, not that I have a problem with that.
It's not the English civil war though. It's a fictional story of England during the third crusade.

The film looks like an overblown rubbish spectacle. Russell Crowe has a terrible accent, and everything else looks forced and contrived. That sorta worked in Gladiator, but Robin Hood is a different kettle of fish, and a different atmosphere. It's gonna be rubbish, but I'm enough people are curious enough for it to become a box office "hit"

cate blanchet = fail...epic
What!?! Hell no! Cate Blanchett = Epic WIN! See Lord Of The Rings and Elizabeth, especially Elizabeth. She's a fantastic actor. Easily in the top 3 female actors in the world, if you ask me.

As for the movie, it'll be a good popcorn flick with a little more depth than your average action movie. Epic fight scenes, blood and gore to the hilt, with a classic good vs. evil storyline.

(covering own tracks, can't appear stupid on the internet!)
I said English civil war, not The English Civil War.

It's big! It's violent! It looks totally and utterly bland!

Seriously, it just looks like they took every other generic olde times setting and stapled a post it on to it with the words "Robin hood".

Plus, one of the sequences in the trailer has a weird deja-vu of the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan to them.
Yes, pretty much this...

I'm expecting to place it next to Kingdom of Heaven and King Arther in an ever growing repatoire of gritty yet boring "historical epic" films... I'm just not seeing the grandness of Gladiator, the elegance of The Last Samurai or even the guilty pleasure of Troy anywhere in the trailers.

Spartans! Prepare for snoring!

Apparently king richards going to be the bad guy. i saw a trailer bit that looked suspiciously like robin was shooting at him off of the cliffs of dover. I think the yanks may have missed the point...

I swear during the preiew for it at Iron Man 2, half the audience kept saying "why are they remaking Gladiator?"

Ahh, but can this Robin Hood speak with a British accent? If Mel Brooks has taught us anything, Robin is only good if he speaks with the proper accent.

YES! MY TIME TO SHINE.

I'm in it.

Few years back it was shooting up in the woods near my village and I was with an acting crew and had the right height/look to get a spot as one of the merry dudes.

Yeah, it certainly looks like just standard fare... typical film from Ridley Scott and Russel Crowe.... can't do much else with it...

i cant say if its going to be bad or good, but from the trailers I've seen it seems like they have taken a story of a band of thieves and rangers that attack in skirmishes and distribute the loot among the poor, to a movie about a honorable rouge that becomes a army commander and charges head on with his enemy.

It didn't seem to capture the feel of the story. but I have only seen the trailer, so I can be far off.

It just looks so weird... Russel Crowe is all wrong as Robin Hood. And Maid Marion is some kind of knight in shining armor? That wasn't in the books I read. The Outlaws are doing some kind of frontal assault on a fortification on a beach? I admit I can be nit-picky, but they don't even seem to understand the 'gist' of Robin Hood, or anything about it. The only thing that looks right is Friar Tuck. Maybe they just wanted to crank out another bland, boring showdown movie and they needed an 'epic' setting.

"I declare him... an outlaaaw!" What the hell is that? If your movie made sense maybe you wouldn't have to try so damn hard. I'll keep an eye out for news, but the movie looks SOOO boring.

EDIT: As always, the biggest tragedy here is not the shitty (looking) movie we get, but the great movie that could have been. Imagine what someone like Ridley Scott could do with this material if only there was genuine interest in it.

Well, I'll be reviewing it next week specifically for this website (I have a little series I do in the User Reviews section). Come back to me in a week's time and I'll be able to let you know what I thought. I don't like to make predictions about movies because they've so often been wrong (for example, I actually liked the Twilight films, and I didn't think the Star Wars prequels were that bad either).

Not as good as Disney's Robin Hood.

Heheh. Just kidding.
Oh and this...except not kidding.
Fully agree with Doitpow. The Disney Robin Hood was EPIC! As was the Costner. I think this'll be a bland retelling of the story. However I won't abandon hope that it'll be awesometastic.
