i based my philosophy of life on tool when i was in high school, too.

I try to live by John Galt's Oath: 'I will never live my life for the sake of another man, not ask another man to live for mine.'

To totally rip from Terry Goodkind, author of the Sword of Truth series:

As his main character says
"It's your life, rise up and live it."

-Everything has a purpose.
-Everyday is a gift, not a given right.

There are a lot of downers on this thread.
I agree wholeheartedly.

People are smart until you introduce social factors. Then people become idiots.

Also, throw aside your foolish arbitrary rules and let people live happily.

To be honest, Fight Club] is my philosophy. Understanding the deeper meaning in that book, and applying it to my life, made me pretty happy with who, what, and where I am now. A few of the gems from there:

-You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.

-If you don't know what you want, you end up with a lot you don't.

-There are a lot of things we don't want to know about the people we love.

-This was freedom. Losing all hope was freedom.

And lastly, one of my favorites:
-It's easy to cry when you realize everyone you love will reject you or die.

Objectivism. Although I accept the fact that there may be an alternate universe or any of that, I just believe that what you see is what you see, none of that nihilism talk saying that nothing is real, and that nothing is of value (yes, I've been reading some Ayn Rand).

On the philosophy of how to live your life, you do what you want to make it better for yourself, it's your choice, not anyone else's.

-Over a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

my high school philosophy of life was based on fight club too.

The universe is infinite. Therefore, if something exists at one point in space-time, that something must then exist at an infinite number of points. I exist at this point in space-time. Therefore, I must then exist at an infinite number of points in space-time.
Wrap your minds around that one. It's a challenge, I warn you.
The problem with that is you are you not the infinite, so the other yous have no bearing on your life whatsoever.

What's going to happen will happen whether you like it or not, get over it before it happens so you can stay happy, getting angry over it is pointless!

When you see something that you think sucks, make a fairly neutral comment and then leave. Hurting peoples feelings simply because you don't like them is a waste.
Thank you, you took the words right out of my mouth... in a sense.

My philosophy is basically "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all." In Escapist terms, that means "If you've got nothing nice to say, kindly post your gripes elsewhere."
