Okay, I did a search and there doesn't seem to be a discussion on your favorite concerts you've been to. So, here it is, fuckers.

Mine (In no particular order)

* Dragonforce / Turisas / Powerglove (2008, SaltAir Pavilion in Salt Lake City)

Dragonforce get a bad rap for their live show, but this was the fourth time I have seen them and they were AMAZING. It helped that I was hammered drunk and that they had two great opening bands. Turisas was fantastic live (their accordion player is smokin hot too) and Powerglove are always amusing. They do heavy metal versions of video game music for those who don't know. Download "You Sexy Robotnik" and "Omnishred (We're Gonna Need A Bigger Sword" for a taste)

* MuteMath (2008, The Venue in Salt Lake City)

MuteMath put on the best live show you will ever see. I shit you not, they leave it all on the stage. Amazing musicians, great performers, energetic and emotional as hell.

* Styx / Nelson (2007, Idaho Falls Sandy Downs)

Okay, fuck you. It was freezing damn cold, I was drunk, and they KILLED it. I hated everything about Styx before going, but I got free tickets and free beer (I rarely pay for shows anymore) and had a BLAST. They are great performers and Tommy Shaw can SHRED.

* In Flames / Trivium / Devil Driver (2007, some run-down shitty venue in Salt Lake City)

I actually stayed sober for this show, and it was amazing. Trivium's sound kept cutting out, but they still killed it dead. They did a Pantera tribute featuring Walk and Domination. Amazing. In Flames were ... In Fucking Flames.

* Jimmy Eat World / Paramore (2008, ISU Holt Arena)

Okay, fuck you in advance. JEW is one of my all-time favorite bands and they put on a GREAT show. I want to fuck the taste out of the lead singer of Paramore, but they were screeching nonsense, music-wise)

* Tiger Army / The Unseen / War Tape (2008, The Venue in Salt Lake City)

Tiger Army own your soul. The Unseen suck ass. War Tapes are great live.

* Fear Before the March of Flames / Anatomy of a Ghost (2003, Idaho Falls Senior Citizen Center)

This is mainly because of how much fun I had at this show. I booked it, lost a bunch of money, but had a ball. We all got drunk and had a ball. At one point, all of the bands on the roster (there were like 5) plugged in at once and did some song (I was too drunk to remember) and tore the place apart. We broke tables in half, blew the electrical, and did something like $5000 in damage to the venue. I felt bad, but the sponsor picked up the tab. Woot.

* As I Lay Dying / Protest the Hero / myCHILDREN myBRIDE (2009, the Icon in Pocatello, Idaho)

AILD made this show. All of the opening bands were utter shit, but As I Lay Dying are true metal performers. It was chaos.

* Anberlin (2009, The Icon in Pocatello, ID)

One of the most spirited, enthusiastic, fun live shows I have ever been to. Seriously so damn fun. They are really talented and into their craft.)

* Boysetsfire / Vaux / The Unseen (2001, Brick's in Salt Lake City)

BSF was pissed as hell, since the USA PATRIOT act had just been signed and put on a spirited, intense live show. They talked too much though. I hung out with them for a while after, super nice guys. Fuck the Unseen.

I never go to gigs.
I go to about 2 stage shows a month though.
Next month I've got Othello and Boxin.
I'm going to try see if there are any in Bradford this month.
Prefer the stage over music.

AAAAAAAHHHHH! My brain begins to melt at the mention.

On topic: personally none I never quite get what's so amazing about a concert though my sister says it's the atmosphere, which by some of her stories sounds like it's just a bunch of sweaty people rubbing up against you while jumping.

The mods don't like list threads, and this has been done a couple times before, but I like talking about gigs so screw it...

Well at least I agree with everything you said about Turisas (especially the accordion player, is it wrong that I thought the body paint made her look hotter?) but I got bored and was tempted to leave half way through Dragonforce's set.

1. Megadeth - Going to see them again, what is now tonight. Last time they just blew me away. Absolutely awe inspiring.

After that the order gets a bit blurry but I really enjoyed seeing Avenged Sevenfold, The Foo Fighters, Bullet For My Valentine, Iron Maiden, Trivium, Arnocorps, Soilwork, Chimera, Children Of Bodom, Slipknot and Machine Head.

I think a top 3 could be...

Coheed & Cambria / The Ocean (2008)
What made this concert so great was the obvios joy with which the band played, the incredible skill they have as musicians, and the fact that ehy played in a rather intimate venue. I have never been so moved at a concert as I was at this. The support was great too.

Iron Maiden /Avenged Sevenfold / Lauren Harris(2008)
Second time I saw them, and far better than the first, on their "A Matter of Life and Death Tour". "Somewhere in Time" had all the great tracks, had amazing sceneshow, and it was outdoors on a nice summerday. Avenged Sevenfold kicked ass, even though they only played 6 or so songs. Lauren Harris was as meh as they come... But that meant we had some proper time to drink beer, leaving our mouths free to sing along to the other two acts :)

Red Hot Chili Peppers (2002-ish...)
On their Byt The Way tour of Australia, in Perth. Was so lucky to catch them while I was on vacation down under, and by they rocked the venue. Such amazing energy and power... It was truly an experience I will never forget.

Special Mention:
HateSphere / Dawn of Demise (2005)
My first show with the band that was to become my favourites... They really rocked my world that night. They are not as "big" or professional as those higher up on the list, but they do play with a great joy, and it's kickass music.

Rotting Christ and Immortal at the Graspop metal meeting 2008, were really amazing.
Pretty fireworks and everything, and the guys from Immortal are just downright hilarious sometimes. Also Amon Amarth, can't wait to see them again. DEATH IN.... FIRE!

Never been in general that's why I asked for the classification, infact I don't go to events much I've been to a games convention twice and that's about it but it is a whole different game to that of a concert I'd imagine.

My university (Leeds) is world famous for being the venue where The Who recorded their acclaimed 'Live at Leeds' album, back in the 70's. At our Fresher's Ball this year, guess who we had? THE VENGABOYS. A bunch of crazy idiotic clubbers who decided that leaving Ibiza to come to a university that has played host to most of the greatest acts around now (including the Kaiser Chiefs just a couple of short years ago) would be a good idea. Seriously. They were shit.

A better group was The Young Knives, and the Hoosiers were there too, a few weeks after the travesty described above. They were pretty good (the Young Knives, I didn't actually see the Hoosiers...).

Frenzal Rhomb's final show in Sydney before they went on hiatus was bloody fantastic. It was the night Howard got voted out; spirits were high, everyone was drunk and they were in top form.

Then you should go to one and live the experience! And after the first one you will want moar! Also a gaming convention...actually any kind of convention doesnt really math the stuff you experience on a concert. The closest thing is probably a big sport's event.(Like The Champions League.)

I went to a brand new concert once and the only thing I have to say about it is they played for 4 hours because there supporting band didn't show up and that's impressive.
