Muh....I'm old..AND I was a concert whore back in the day....

80s - Billy Idol, Tina Turner, Devo, Pat Benetar, KISS, Gowan, Neil Young...and that's all I can remember...I was still a kid back then...

90s - Tool, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Sting, Colin James, Wide Mouth Mason (ANY chance I could get), Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, U2 (got to shake hands with the guys...was cool), Econoline Crush, Violent Femmes, Blind Melon, Green Day, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, various Lollapalooza showings

This century, now that I'm old, I find I don't have the patience for the crowds, uncomfortable seats, and outrageous beer prices ... but I sure as hell made an exception when Annie Lennox came to down. I'd crawl through broken glass to see her again.

Metallica - My first show back in 1999 in Nuremberg, probably amazing because it was the first time I saw a metal band xD

Sick of it All - With Full Force Festival, biggest circle pit i have ever seen... basically everybody at the main stage participated, that being like 20k people *omg*

Heaven Shall Burn - Backstage Munich, small show, great crowd, huge party :D

Terror - Persistence Tour, Nuremberg, a truly memorable show. I broke a rib in the pit :-/

My favorite ever would be when I went to see the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra when they came down here to Geelong. They played Mendelssohn's first piano concerto and Beethoven's 7th Symphony, that was a very good night.

Wow, I bet it was! I would've loved to have seen that.

Back on Feb. 26 I went to Portland, Maine to see Clutch for the 2nd time (as reported in my first post) - it was amazing. The first time I saw them, I wasn't as into them as I am now, and only knew a few songs, so it was just ok. But this time I knew just about every song and enjoyed it much more.
The openers were Red Fang - nothing too special, but good, solid hard rock - and Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band - they almost stole the show! They're kinda folky rock - like what they had for metal before electric guitars were invented, lol. Very entertaining, check 'em out if you can.

Turisas was fantastic live (their accordion player is smokin hot too)
Turisas are very energetic live. It makes it fantastic to watch them.

I've been to more street punk shows than I can remember. A lot of them were a lot of fun, but lets see which ones stick out:

Subhumans (UK) at the Kathedral. These guys are like 50 something and they can still put on one of the best live shows in punk rock. I destroyed myself at this show. It was fucking incredible. Its also where I met one of my comrades for my time on the Toronto punk scene. A really cool guy named Nathan who's had my back in the pit many a time.

GBH and the Krum Bums at the Fouf. GBH's first show in Montreal in 19 years and it was nuts. An explosion of people from the ages of 12-60 something, all to see GBH. The Krum Bums also put on a great show. They're really cool guys, I had a beer with them after the show.

Turisas and Ensepharim at the Opera House. Paganfest 2008 I think it was. Me and a couple of buddies went in full viking attire with black and red full facial warpaint. My back was fucked up still from getting tackled into the monitors at another show but I still had a great time.

...and probably my number 1 show ever was seeing A Global Threat the last time they ever played in Toronto. Those guys are seriously cool. The bassist John is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I'm sad they're gone.

EDIT: I forgot one. I got a chance to Talib Kweli for free this year playing a show in the street. Truly a great show, he's a good performer and a decent freestyler. Great energy.

I saw the Black Keys in Brisbane earlier in the year, and they rocked my fucking socks off.

Totally worth the 3 days of ringing ears.

Loving Rev's Big Damn Band! They're really something special. Got a Gogol Bordello kinda feel from them. (Just without all the gypsys.)

The Unholy Alliance Chapter II

Slayer, Mastodon and Amon Amarth

It was....not one single word or sentence can summon up how amazing and epic it was. Even though Mastodon's lead guitarist was sick, they went in as a trio and were amazing. Amon Amarth...awesome.

But Slayer....oh....Slayer owned the stage. It was probably their best live show. They played their entire masterpiece of Thrash, Reign in Blood.

I went to a Reel Big Fish show at the Fillmore, with Streetlight Manifesto and One Pin Short opening, with a bunch of friends. Still ranks in the top 5 Saturday nights of my life.
