I first came on for ZP then I finally decided to go on the forums. "Hey these people look smart."

Now:

Ahahahahaha!
I'm joking of course, most people on here are smart...MOST people. D:

But theres a reason I'm still on here.

"Why does this forum like to micro debate everything?"

I lurked for about a year before joining.

"Damn this guy with the rainbow wolf avatar is everywhere."
You see, I fell in love with ZP, as George Carlin DVDs and YouTube vids could only last so long.

Then I found "him". I can't remember what the discussion was, but it quickly got derailed into talking about food.

Yummy, delicious food...

Fooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood...

And the rest.....is Okami.

I think it was something along the lines of "Well, it looks rather nice here, let's make an account. Don't post. Just lurk."

I see how that worked out for you.

"Wow, there sure are a lot of threads about drowning."

I didn't make my account then though. I lurked for a few weeks or a couple of months before I made an account. Not sure how long.

"The Basement? Wonder what's in there...Brokencyde on replay? That doesn't sound so bad... *strolls on over to YouTube*" :D

Hm... probably "Wow, I never knew so many people had such vitriolic hatred for Gamestop." since the post that actually got me to join was one railing on Gamestop because of an issue the OP had made when calculating the total cost of something and then not keeping their receipts after pre-ordering something.
Coincidentally, that is the very song I listened to! Quite a peculiar way to get into the forums I must say. :D
I would imagine it probably was, as I don't think I've seen anybody around here who could sit through enough of that song to attempt looking up any of their other ones.

And it's the only one I've ever seen linked, too.

Though I think you're the first person who hasn't reacted in a very overdramatic manner about your ears spontaneously bleeding upon hearing it. :D

[sub]I still maintain that it's the worst song I've ever heard, though I acknowledge the possibility of there being worse songs in existence.[/sub]

True. To be honest, no music really throws me like that. In fact, I'm not very dramatic at all about other peoples preferences, or things that might be unpleasant to me. I admit the song is pretty bad, but I can say that I have heard worse. :)
Well, I'm not dramatic whenever I can help it, and I'm typically very open-minded about music.

I'd say that... I've heard songs I like less than that particular one, but I think from an actual musical perspective, it just is bad on so many levels that I can't consider those songs to be "worse" than it. It's the one song I've ever listened to (bar, say, people recording things on a webcam) that I just can't find a single redeemable quality contained within.

That's very fair. When I say I've heard worse, I'm referring to the sound in general. I'm not one to really go deep into what makes the sound, I just decide based on how it enters my ear. :)

Are you a musician by any chance?
I dabble in guitar as a personal hobby, and it's definitely caused me to analyze music as I listen to it. It also makes it a lot easier for me to get into various different genres, like the sub-genres of Rock, or Ambient Instrumental, or Metal and its associated sub-genres, or Rap, or Orchestral/Classical.

Fun tidbit: A writer for the Warsaw Business Journal attempted to describe their music: "Imagine an impassioned triceratops mating with a steam turbine, while off to the side Daft Punk and the Bee Gees beat each other to death with skillets and spatulas. Imagine the sound that would make. Just try. BrokeNCYDE is kind of like that, except it also makes you want to jab your thumbs into your eyeballs and gargle acid."

XD!
That sounds about right. :D

Apparently not much. I didn't paragraph anything, nor did I refrain from the universal joy of emoting my posts. I'd say the impression I got from, and still retain of, The Escapist Magazine's forums came with time.

It's kind of embarrassing, going back and reading some of my oldest comments, and all that I can remember based on those was that when I first came here, I just treated it as 'just another forum'.

I may be amiss in asking this, but...was the Religion and Politics section around back in 2008? I have this vague, nagging feeling somewhere in me that tells me otherwise.

I honestly cannot remember for sure but then I used to lurk alot more back then so could be likely I just found my way onto R&P later and just assumed it had always been there. As far as I can recall there was R&P back in 2008.

I thought "Hey, a forum, WITH video series and stuff, cool, I'll lurk for awhile and check it out." later that year I made an account, and I've been reading/posting/lurking ever since.

I first came over when yahtzee announced that he was making videos here, I suppose the first thing I noticed was that the community was great, especially compared to other gaming sites/forums (maturity, intelligence, courtesy, sense of humor) I suppose thats what made me stay.

Would be the rough approximation.

Haha yeah, I lurked for a year though, then I found I just couldn't help myself! And now I'm all day everyday.
