From my personal experience, there are only two things I really don't like in the USA:

1-There are alot more overly patriotic ignorants that will do something completly irrational and justify doing it by the simple formula:"This is a free country,I can do what I want".
I was 8 the first time I heard it and even then I tried to argue all the things that were wrong with the use of that sentence.
Or the grudges the same people hold.Get in a pseudo war(the cold war) with someone and their description becomes forever linked to an insult(see:commie being the overall favorite)

Of course,I know not everyone is like that, but you have to admit there are a lot more in the USA.

2-The ginormous military budget.I know there's a war,you have a powerful military,but seriously.650 billion dollars in 2007 according to my source.
The biggest official money sink is the nukes which uses 23 billion dollars a year.
What the fuck are the monkeys in the pentagon spending it on?

There are,of course, alot of smaller things, but nobody is perfect.
In fact,I sure I could come up with as many criticism in the country I currently living in.

Well, paging through many of the comments in this thread, it seems like everyones got an antiamerican grudge.
Of course,I know not everyone is like that, but you have to admit there are a lot more in the USA.
citation needed. This kind of statement annoys me. It requires zero information and relies only on innuendo. You have the impression that there are grossly more american hicks than there are hicks in other countries. Its possible that there are; america has states with larger rural populations than a good part of western europe. But it is stereotyping, and if you were saying such things about jews or gays, you would be run out of town.

Also, there are no monkeys in the pentagon. At least, not for purposes other than secret bio warfare agent testing. If there are monkeys, they don't get to spend any money.

That would just be silly.

Well I'm sure this is a repeat thread but whatever, I'll respond anyway. Let me just say...[HEADING=3]Damn you America![/HEADING]

Now let follow up by saying I'm Canadian. I think you should have a pretty good idea of where I stand with these two things.
AH HA HA! America jr. You'll always be know as our hat...

/sarcasm
I dunno, I'm Aussie and I think of you as Canadas ass.
/sarcasm (possibly).

I may annoy you,but I based it what I saw in the most densely populated state(New Jersey) during the 5 years I was there.

In addition, every part of that statement is true and required information:
I could only have said the first part if I were there at one point and seen people not fitting my description, which I have.

The second part I based off a slice of population I knew(a school) and compared it to another school in an other country.

I didn't ever talk about rural areas and never intend to until I go there personally

...That.
I would add more then that if i was you.

My view is that, they are a proud nation to ignorant of others to give a fuck.
624, versoth, true this country Country could Be Run Better.

Blackadder51, it's not that we - as a whole - are choosing to be ignorant of others rather those in charge of the Curriculum at Most Educational Institutions arrive at their decisions not through logical means but through Milking The Sack of the Wealth Funds that provide the majority of their Non-tuition income. (Creationism my ass)

all the news media outlets are similarly biased.

now to speak for myself, I just Hate Everybody. but i do give Everyone I Meet a fair chance to earn my Respect and even Affection. but when it comes to people i will most likely Never Interact With - Why The F*** should I Waste My Time and Energy caring about them? (call me Evil if you will, I Do.)

Well I stand corrected in part, but I must emphasize that you were in NEW JERSEY.

New jersey and its beleaguered children are hardly a uniform sample of america.

I'm having a hard time figuring out it that's your opinion of America or your observation, because you basically hit the nail on the fucking head right there.

Well, I live there and sometimes that makes me rather angry... not only because I feel like I'm surrounded by vapid morons who take their liberties for granted, but also because if I travel anywhere else I'll be ridiculed and looked down upon before they even get to know me. (In my books, you're perfectly entitled to hate me, once you actually know me a little. But not before.)

BUT, it's better than living in constant fear of my life, starving to death or having to resort to prostitution to feed my family. Or getting raped, beaten and shot in the streets on the basis that I'm a woman and I'm not completely covering my entire body. So I guess I was born here.

I realize this is an international forum and that many people around the world hate America for our past and present situations. I think we get the short end of the stick because we are expected to police the world even though, at times we just want to be left alone and when we do get involved in something international crisis we have to deal with all these damn critics from Western Europe as if they were going doing something about it. But if we are so damn evil then why do these same countries who hate us always want our aid and help when there is a natural disaster or when one of their neighbors is acting aggressive? We don?t tell them to go to hell, no we help them.
I personally love America, I don't like what's being done by the government and my president at the moment but there isn't anything I can do about it.

There are many places in the world I'd love to visit, but there is no country I'd rather live in than America.

Americans: The only idiots who would willingly try to rebuild and reinhabit New Orleans

Pretty much sums it up.
fix'd
So your saying you wouldn't try to repair a major port and cultural center?
Not when it will inevitably be destroyed again, it's like repeatedly building a sandcastle that you have watched wash away, how long will you keep repairing it until you decide to move it further up the beach?
Its not inevitable so long as people keep their damn levies fixed.
You know, I watched the coverage as Katrina hit, and felt saddened for everyone who died and suffered. But a thought hit me soon after. Why would you build a city that needs levies and is below sea level...especially near a huge body of water?
isn't that a good question to be asking, um i think - denmark?
