Americans: The only idiots who would willingly try to rebuild and reinhabit New Orleans

Pretty much sums it up.
fix'd
So your saying you wouldn't try to repair a major port and cultural center?
Not when it will inevitably be destroyed again, it's like repeatedly building a sandcastle that you have watched wash away, how long will you keep repairing it until you decide to move it further up the beach?
Its not inevitable so long as people keep their damn levies fixed.
You know, I watched the coverage as Katrina hit, and felt saddened for everyone who died and suffered. But a thought hit me soon after. Why would you build a city that needs levies and is below sea level...especially near a huge body of water?
Dude, most people live near a huge body of water. As for being below sea level, its not a big deal so long as you maintain your infrastructure properly. Just ask Denmark.
Umm... you must be mistaking us for the Netherlands? Denmark is mainly a bunch of islands so if we were below sea level we'd be pretty much screwed.

I'm Australian and I really want to visit America one day, especially Washington DC.

As a country I feel kinda sorry for you guys, your seen as the world's police because your the only people with the military power to do it. Yet, people spend half their lives saying your wrong for doing it and the other half telling you to keep doing it.

All the while the lack of money in your domestic sphere is beginning to show, with the insurance and medical issues your having.

I appreciate the foreign policy difficulties you guys have and I think you're doing a good job at it. So yeah, you're doing fine by me. I really want to see the White House in person ( though it's impossible to get inside, just to look at it from Pennsylvania Avenue would be enough.)
Wow. How...informed. That was very well put. Be careful of DC though. It may be the nation's capitol, but it's also the homicide capitol as well.

It's my home. I love it. It's by no means a perfect place, and in desperate need of a serious rude awakening for how good they have it, but it's still home. I've been to a few different countries (phillipines, thailand, japan) and I can honestly say that while there is plenty to admire and learn from overseas, there's nowhere else i'd rather be then the USA. I think that if people had a chance to go out there and see how others live, they'd learn just what a precious thing we have in our country, and that we should do what we can to improve on it.

They were lucky in many ways to have what they have today (like no history to care about, an empty country to do whatever they like..).. I am happy I am not American and not cool like them "Values?! What's that? Its so funny to carry your own weapon and to shoot at people. We are the greatest, let's sell our neighbours organs to make more $$$$$"

Hmm...I have mixed views about the U.S. However, I tend to be brutally honest and I don't feel like offending anybody right now so I'll put a sock in it.

However, America does tend to have more interesting folks in general compared to where I live right now.

Some of the people annoy me. They think their amazing and their country is the best in the world. Also I hate your reality television. It's just stupid people with sob stories trying to get money. Oh and your advertisements really are for stupid people. It's always 'Hi I have made this product, yes this product! Here is the number, here is the number again, this is my product here is the number again!' They really do dumb your media down, what can't help the large percentage of the population what follow it word for word.

EDIT: On the other hand, I have met and talked to a lot of Americans and they are nice people, your country just has a bad name for idiocy.

Pretty much sums it up.
Don't forget earthquake centrals and soggy hurricane bays... Which all three sum up America period.

My view on america? California sucks for oh so many reasons, then again so does the entire west coast, Illinois is a silly place to the south of the most amazing state in the history of the world, Hail Wisconsin!, Minnesota wishes they could be Wisconsin, Upper michigan was annexed by Wisconsin on May 30 1848, Canada was made by Wisconsin on June 1 1848, and is currently going downhill(we should do something about that shouldnt we), I hate recreational drug users with a passion and their should be a hunting season for em because they're a pox on my nation, and Milwaukee is not apart of Wisconsin(It's a third world country).

Yes I am being serious.

The people are often really kind, but not too bright. But that's just me.
I really saw a difference between American people and European people.
Also, I think it's kind of weird that a group of 50-what STATES together are being called a country. And even those guys together don't really get the concept of a culture..

America has good people, bad people; smart people, stupid people. It's got it's own preoccupations, politics and prevalent attitudes, some are idiotic and harmful, some are admirable and beneficial. I don't believe its population or the nation as a whole is significantly any better or worse than any other developed world country - it's just different.

I realize this is an international forum and that many people around the world hate America for our past and present situations. I think we get the short end of the stick because we are expected to police the world even though, at times we just want to be left alone and when we do get involved in something international crisis we have to deal with all these damn critics from Western Europe as if they were going doing something about it. But if we are so damn evil then why do these same countries who hate us always want our aid and help when there is a natural disaster or when one of their neighbors is acting aggressive? We don?t tell them to go to hell, no we help them.
I personally love America, I don't like what's being done by the government and my president at the moment but there isn't anything I can do about it.
I think this is part of my problem with the US. Its highly arrogant belief that it is the "world police" or "the leader of the free world". Honestly there is no leader of the free world and if there would be a world police, there should be one that doesn't share the US horrible record of following international law. Moreover I am not to happy about the slowness the US has reacted to global warming and the very limited measures it has taken to curb it(The US releases nearly 4 times more green house gasses per capita than my country and I don't think they have a higher standard of living)

However I have been to America twice and on the whole found the people there very nice. So basically I like the people but not the politics(a pretty common stance it seems)

Also, (for those in the U.S. only) if you don't like the country, then i suggest you go live in fucking myanmar, or china, the phillipines, thailand, or just about anywhere in south asia. You don't realize how good we have it, we're spoiled in terms of just about everything, and we enjoy a standard of living mostly unmatched throughout most of the world. On top of that, it's our HOME, if you don't like what you see in it, then go out there and seek to change it. Speaking your mind is one of the foundations of our country, and i respect your right to call our country shit, but i suggest before you do, go to another country that actually is, you'll be singing a considerably different tune afterwards.

Some nice, intelligent people live there. Surrounded by idiots. And run by possibly one of the most evil governments that existed since the ancient romans.

We have a place called the Bible Belt too, oddly enough, it and tornado alley share some space and the rest of the Bible Belt is in the hardest hit area by hurricanes.
