Hard to say, most peoples responses so far have been titles that they don't like due to genre. I try to play a wide variety but when it comes down to it, games like CoD and Battlefield are beyond boring to me. The game I would have to choose is Daggerdale. I will state that I actually really like the game, it's really fun, especially multiplayer, however, there are so many bugs in that game it is just inexcusable.

I haven't played ANY shitty games this year actually. The most let down? Dungeon Siege 3. It was a mediocre game, but it wasn't complete shit. It was just average in every since of the word. All the armours looked exactly the same. There was only 3...3 choices despite the fact there were tons of armour pickups. Same with the weapons as well. Not to mention the story was bleh, but the combat wasn't bad and the environments were pretty good looking.

Sadly, Brink altho it was something new with the parkour system and the "online storymode" the game was just too short and boring, with almost no content watsoever and no online matchup. THe game I regret most buying ever.
SECONDED
also satw avatar very cool!
Come on, Brink was alright. I don't understand all the bad press it got, although I did pick it up for £17 (new) so I didn't really pay a lot for it. No, I have to go with Duke Nukem Forever. I'm just glad it was my friend who paid full, release day price for it. I only borrowed it, and thank FUCK for that.

I'm pretty sure that was Dragon Age 2.
i dont know why everyone is STILL pissed off about this game. it wasnt revolutionary but it was far from even a bad game, let alone worst this year. did you only play dragon age 2?

for me, duke nukem forever. i rented it going "eh, looks ok" and brought it back in 2 hours. the only fun part was throwing poo at people.

aww, I wanted to "inb4 MW3"

I hope you were being honest, at least :)

Realistically I'd say DNF, but DNF's suckage is CoD's fault in the first place...

inb4 "Duke Nukem Forever" oh too late. Fucking idiots. Duke Nukem Forever was fine. Wasn't great, sure, and was it disappointing after 14 years, of fucking course it was. But no game for the past five years has truly been "great," except maybe Portal, and no game will ever be worth a 14 year wait, except maybe Half-Life 3. Duke Nukem Forever hate makes me sad to be a gamer, because it was a legitimately entertaining and light-hearted FPS in a sea of mediocre combat sims and deserved to be treated better than it treated. Actually, I'd almost go so far as to say it's probably one of the best games of 2011, for me.

So far... worst game... hmm... I'm going to go ahead and say Terraria. It probably isn't that bad, but the whole cult following the game has undeservedly amassed makes me mad. IT'S 2D MINECRAFT WITH AN ENDGAME. YOU JUST RUINED EVERYTHING THAT MADE MINECRAFT SPECIAL - FREEDOM, AND ENDLESS CREATIVITY. And for some reason you make it in complete pixel-art. Why? You wanna know WHY? Because Minecraft did it and you're trying to be Minecraft. Eurgh, I hated that game.
Terraria is very different from minecraft. Minecaft is about building, Terraria is about game progression, bossing and keeping a base safe. Terraria building is endgame stuff. I hate the idea that it is a 2D minecraft. It differs massively in its basic idea (even Notch himself played it and acknowledged it).

Really?!? We are not bashing you for your choice of Terrmia, so don't bash people because they say Duke Nukem Forever, it is obvious people didn't like that game. However If you like it, more power to you.

Nope. There have been quite a few games that could be classified by "Truly great" other than portal. You make it sound like Portal is the best game of this gen, which it isn't. It's just great.

Wrong again. It's a bad game in nearly every aspect. Boring, bland, unfunny, shit. It doesn't deserve to be treated any better. I didn't give a shit about duke, didn't wait for it and wasn't hyped. I still bought it out of curiosity and absolutely hated it. Also, it makes me sad to be a gamer when I see gamers flame other gamers for hating DNF, because that's just fucking ridiculous.

So yeah, people claiming that DNF is the worst game of 2011 is completely normal, natural and justifiable. I also find it hilarious that you're insulting people for not thinking the same way you do by calling them fucking idiots. It's called opinions and everyone has one.

Out of all of them? L.A Noire got me pretty is interested around the repetitive drug missions, so I'd go for that one. By know means bad, but the 'worst' I've played so far.

A) 'Thus Far'. MW3 isn't released yet. Please leave your hate bandwagon is departing in another thread.
B) Despite what somebody on the internet told you, hating Call of Duty isn't impressive, or indie. Women will not be impressed by your attempts to woe them with your radical, expressive, original and thought-provoking personality.
C) 'Baa!'

Does Dragon Age 2 count if I only played the demo? It was actually worse than the first, and the first was one of the worst games I've ever played. The other games this year that I've played (Bulletstorm, Homefront, Duke Nukem Forever, Brink, Hard Reset) were all decent or good. And yes, I did like Duke Nukem Forever.

ABLb0y said:
More likely Duke Nukem Forever, as we waited 14 years for it.
Really, those whole 14 years you were sitting there waiting for the next Duke Nukem game to come out? No. Because, considering that you are 14 (based on your profile), that is impossible. I doubt there were that many people waiting that whole time for it to come out. Most people were probably only waiting for it from the time that Gearbox took it over. Time in development doesn't equal how long you've been waiting for it.

Brink.

Why did it ever exist? Who even still cares that it does exist?

It had a fairly mundane execution, offering nothing new to gaming i.e. everything in it could have come from another game, but its worst crime was being a competitive online shooter that has an entirely localised scene i.e. nobody talks about Brink anywhere other than Brink forums.

For better or worse, people talk about games like Halo, Call of Duty, Battlefield, TF2 etc. but no one ever talks about Brink. Hell... I forgot about the game until I stopped to think about what the worse game of the year would be.

The worst game I've played so far this year is an obnoxious puzzle game called Catherine that tire-irons an awful relationship simulator full of unlikeable characters into its obnoxious puzzling. I really think someone needs to remind Japan that not everything needs a dating simulator attached to it, but every Japanese developer has his head too far up his ass to take any advice that isn't his own.
