Wind, create a vacuum and laugh as everyone fails to hit me. Permanent vacuum shield half an inch thick surrounding a wind buffeting shield around me with minor holes to maintain steady supply of oxygen and sound. Fire will die in the vacuum, water and ice will evaporate harmlessly, stones will buffet off the second layer, and lightning bolts can't cross the vacuum. The holes will move constantly which will provide sound through the barrier and minimize the chances of someone getting an attack through the pinhole. Throwing things or making a vacuum around their head wins fights.
What if an Earth user just decides to drop you into a giant hole to the center of the Earth?
Ground opens up, I remain hovering above it and laugh.

Wind, by far the most chaotically destructive of that bunch. Shifting a weather pattern can cause huge repercussions, and also allows me to fly.

Fire can be blown out, water can be misted, ice can be sublimated and shattered, electricity won't be easy to deal with, but I wouldn't be grounded so it's hard on each, and ground is probably where I can't do much except try to rip things out of it.
But that depends on the strength of a fire user for example, I don't think a powerful inferno would be healthy for you, wind would just help to strengthen it and speed it up, lol
no fire could contend with a hurricane or a tornado

I can't just be amazingly awesome? I thought for sure awesome was an element.
You're thinking of awesomium, it's a different kind of element.
Awesomium would be what you'd use if you didn't have powers

Electricity, ice, water, ground, fire or wind.
Out of the six, I would go for water or ice... USUALLY. But ground seems to have an overall advantage.
Ground would consist (as I see it) of:
Rooting effects (Encasing people's feet in rock etc.) - Causing fissures/Earthquakes - Creating plants fast-mode (Making soil unnaturally fertile) - Hurling boulders - Turning people into stone - Rock slides - Controlling earth's minerals (Iron, diamond etc.) - Volcanoes and mountains bro. Volcanoes and mountains.
It all seems like a three pronged attack. Everything in nature is connected to the ground we walk on. Face it. Controlling the ground is basically being able to manipulate earth, the floor they stand on, or superhuman plants to annihilate foes.

Now, for my unnecessarily long tactics section:

Vs wind:
This is pretty straight forward. They fly... Throw rocks and/or create tall trees to shroud you on the ground, or, if you're feeling ambitious, make the plants pull them down to the ground. Defend attacks with a ground barrier, and all's fine.

Vs fire: FISSURES EVERYWHERE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH! *Cough* What I meant to say was. If you can basically put them into a stone tomb with no oxygen... NOTHING CAN BURN! It's an instant win, and you know it. Fire also has an inability to burn the ground. Sure, burn the plants, but the floor is still there...

Vs Electricity: This is straight forward. Electricity is basically going to slap you silly, but the second you start using minerals that conduct, you start winning. Iron ore ball? No thanks, it's just been electrified, eat thunder dirtbag. Wait... I'm the dirtbag... Literally... I'm throwing around dirt.... *Cries*

Vs Ice: Smash... Enough said. Ice is grounds *****, and you can't deny it. The very second you open a hole to the molten core of the earth, they cower in fear. Volcanoes galore people.

Vs Water: Now... This is the tricky one. Water is basically your nemesis if you're a ground user. Use of fissures is nullified by his manipulation of clouds to fly. Volcanoes....yeah.... and plants, tsunami pls go. But. There is a way. It's stupendously difficult, sure, but it can happen. The oceanic plates... Move em... sure, you'll be exhausted, but moving the earth's plates to put you somewhere more suitable for you would work, if you can survive that nasty water ball and... aww, hell. Let's just say water beats earth.

Vs Ground: It's rock, paper, scissors folks. Volcano > Plants > Earth > Volcano.
Here's why: 1) Plants steal minerals from the earth, weakening it. 2)Volcanoes can be closed by solidifying the molten lavainto rock. 3) Plants burn... It's a well known fact.

I like long posts. =3 Long post is LOOOOOOOONG.

I'm actually going to start keeping record of the elemental armies we have on either opposing team.

Oh yes, and people, you ARE meant to be heros :/ Its cool and all that you have devastating power, but what does it matter if you kill everyone you know and love in the process -_-

Electricity for sure. I would love the idea that I could shoot lightning out of my fingertips. Being able to use/manipulate electricity could also have a lot of practical applications as well.

what the hell can wind do?
...You did NOT just asked that.

Gale force winds, tsunami, You have the power to bring down planes helicopters fuck if you worked at it, you destroy WHOLE freaking citys. You can make whirlpools, tornados and cyclones.

and all that is just the TIP of the iceberg.
Tsunamis? How?
I think destroying a city with any of the other powers would be way easier, though. With wind, you can just blow on the sides of buildings. It'd have to be RIDICULOUSLY strong to take a building down. Ok, tornado power would be pretty cool, but you'd have to be a villain. How could a good guy use such a massive destructive force?
Whirlpools? Also how?

EDIT: also, you couldn't really bring down helicopters or planes, you could just make them move very rapidly in one direction.
I don't know, just used the to move in a circle over the waterand try to spiral it down if you trying the whirlpool.

Tsunammi I was just talking out of my ass lol

Fire, because it's badass.
I wouldn't worry about water, if I'm powerful enough the water would evaporate.
