After lying down in his body, Sonny took a few minutes to readjust to being alive; when at last he was ready to open his eyes, the first thing he saw was Snake-Lady, leaning over him and hissing. He wasn't quite awake enough to make out the exact words, but was conscious enough to be wary of the snaky-tongued demon-woman, and at the sight of her he yelped and rolled over, cracking his head on the leg of a desk.
"You! I mean, uh, hello! Just out of interest, you aren't planning to eat me, are you?" Bleu hissed a response about someone being "here for her again", and Sonny realized he had more to worry about than a slightly-suspect Lamia. The demons were back.
Before he had time to prepare for an attack, a man in a suit stepped quite calmly through the door. Sonny relaxed slightly at the sight of this fairly normal-looking man, but judging from Bleu's reaction to him Sonny deduced that he must be the one after her.
"Hello there, dear," the man said to Sonny in a friendly tone. "Don't mind me; I'm just here for my daughter."
"Your daughter?" Sonny asked. He began mumbling absent-mindedly, not really to the new stranger, but more as a means of affirming things to himself. "That would've been vaguely believeable, were it not for the fact that Bleu has a snake-tail and you don't, drawing resemblances fairly short... I mean, I would have assumed that she was living on her own anyway, being a demon and all, but I'm not really an expert on demon customs or biology, so it's not completely ridiculous..."
The man in the suit took a daunting step forward, and Sonny backed away from the stranger, nudging into a desk with his back. ""Demons"? Don't be ridiculous, kid; I'm just an ordinary guy."
Sonny glanced around the room, looking for a means of defending himself should things turn nasty, and in doing so spotted the glaring contradiction in the stranger's testimony.
"Aha!" Sonny declared, pointing a finger at Gary. "Now, forgive me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you think the first thing an "ordinary guy" would take note of upon entering a room would be the numerous human corpses scattered about the floor? You, sir, are no "ordinary guy"!"
"Well, ya got me," Gary shrugged, then brought his fist down at Sonny's head. Sonny dived to the side, and the desk he was standing in front of shattered into pieces. Sonny rolled back, grabbed two of the legs of the desk which had broken off and crossed them in front of himself in a defensive stance. Gary was between him and the door, so running wasn't an option - and besides that, Bleu was still here, and selfish coward or no, Sonny wasn't going to stand back and let her get taken whilst he was right there.
