"Sadly, I must go. There is Ms Tanya and the Gauntlet to tell every one about, and then there's the matter of the books... I'll have to think of something for that." Karen said before leaving. Quinn wished her well as she left, and watched from the window to make sure she made it to the bus stop alright. The advantages of her apartment complex included cost, but did not include good neighborhood.

When Karen got on the bus, Quinn made her way back to the kitchen, cooking up a simple meal of chicken and pasta with some red sauce. It wasn't her most complicated meal, but she honestly didn't feel like spending too much effort on it. She never did after people left. It was one of the weird things about her life; whenever people visited her, the apartment was alive with activity and life; almost humming with excitement. However, as soon as they left, it all returned to a quiet handful of rooms; draining her of energy with the repressive dead weight of the silence.

Since there was apparently a "field trip" with Ms. Tanya tomorrow, Quinn decided to pack a sandwich for the next day, then set about cleaning up. When it was all done, she made her way to the recliner, curled up in its cool leather, and pulled open a book - a comfortable, cheap, cheesy, disposable fantasy novel she'd read a dozen times, but still liked to read now and then.

A few hours passed before she made her way to bed, falling asleep to dreams of knights and princesses and dragons; certainly could be worse.

I'm done with sandbox mode. Feel free to move the time ahead at your convenience to the next plot development.

The thing about believing that you're in a video game is that even though your brain is being fooled and given feedback to work on, it's still working your body. That is why, at some point, things went a leetle bit wrong. See, what Shiro had here was probably a minor haunting that'd drawn him in, that maybe had drawn in a bunch of people. Maybe on some level his spiritual awareness drew him to it or maybe it was all just coincidence. Hell, maybe it was all in his head. We dunno, 'cause he dunno. And what happened at some point was that people started to notice that somebody at the House of the Dead game was acting kinda' strange. Aaand he suddenly had his lights put out as Shiro thought he was punching a zombie. And why not? The whole thing was real enough to him. The only thing was that eventually his willingness to hold back was finished and - without warning - a black samurai slashed through the game machine, right down the middle...as well as the back wall. It only lasted for a second, but then...suddenly Shiro was out of it.

"What happened...?"

He was staring at the mess he'd just made. Foolish samurai! You left the bracelet on the whole time! Maybe people didn't see because they just weren't spiritually aware, but damn boy you just wrecked a video game. People certainly noticed THAT. All activity ceased and both the owner of the place and a couple employees arrived to survey the damage. They were shocked, glaring with disbelief between the machine and Shiro.

"You broke it!"

"What? No, I didn't. It exploded!"

"Exploded, my ass! You ever see that happen to a machine like that before?"

"D'you see anything on me that can DO that? Something was wrong with your machine!"

Something HAD been wrong, though he DID actually put an end to it. The thing is that he couldn't admit to something that was not physically provable. Something like 'Hey, I can turn into an eight-foot-tall shogun with a sword' wasn't gonna go down well, so it was better to just claim ignorance on the matter. Even still, the game had to be possessed or something. It was better that he HAD killed it, or whatever he did. The effect stopped once he had. The owner was pissed and told him to get out, but he knew he had nothing either. He'd have someone examine it and find a mess, but no way of predicting that a young man could pull a Japanese sword out of nowhere to kill the game. Shiro decided to head back to his room where he was staying and maybe try and sleep off the rest of the day.

Brian was a bit worn-out from his experience, and missed most of the things talked about in homeroom. However, he did pick up the tidbit about the field trip the next day, though he hardly knew what to expect. Regardless, he walked through the school, trying to get to his car while feeling physically drained; though he suddenly stopped when he noticed a peculiar sight.

It was perched on some lower classman's shoulder, looking proud of itself as the person it sat on walked through the halls in abject misery. It was a Demon, or at least, Brian though it was. It looked like something from the Bible, a creature with goat legs, wings and horns poking out of it's head...and was about six inches tall.

Out of sheer amazement, Brian found himself following the teenager the Demon perched itself on, a kid Brian remembered having in a class a previous semester. He didn't know the boy's name, but he could remember that the kid had the worst luck. His pencils would break and the non-mechanical ones could never be sharpened right, in fact, anything the kid touched found a way to break on him one way or another. It led to a rumor being passed around that the kid had some sort of hex on him. Was this Demon the actual cause? Brian didn't remember seeing it before, but then again, he never felt right when near the guy.

Regardless, if it was the Demon, it appeared to have upped its game, as its victim appeared to be worn down and sullen. Feeling a pang of sympathy, Brian wondered if he could use his power to help. After all, wasn't that the reason for him having his power, to fight evil and protect the innocent?

"Worth a shot..." Brian mumbled to himself as sat himself outside, seeing that the other student appeared to be waiting for a ride. Bringing out his binder and pen, Brian wondered what he should write to take care of the Demon, if his power would even work.

Deciding to cross that bridge when he came to it, Brian focused on finding the right word. Something obvious might not create the desired effect, so words like "burn" and "destroy" were out. "Die" or "kill" weren't going to work either, as the last thing Brian wanted was for something involving those words to go awry. "It needs to be something that kills it without...hold on..."

Thinking he had a solution, Brian ripped a blank sheet out of his binder and folded it the best he could into a paper airplane. Then, he threw it, aiming for the Demon-abused student. However, the plane veered off course, but got the Demon's attention. Swiftly, it jumped up and grabbed the plane, redirecting it back towards the student. As intended, the plane smacked into the side of the teenager's head, crumpling on impact. Brian waited for a moment to see if the guy would react, but saw that he was being ignored. "Typical..." Brian thought for a second, before feeling guilty, making him shake his head.

Now with a plan, Brian folded a new plane, but this time put it under his pen. "Now...what did it feel like before..." Brian closed his eyes as he tried to remember what he did in the cafeteria, and in homeroom. "Frustration...pressure...maybe it's something about focus?" Brian gripped the pen tightly, and tried to "push" whatever energy he could feel inside towards his fingers as he wrote the word he thought would kill the Demon.

Cut

Then, with the glowing ink signifying that he had done it "right", Brian let the plane fly. Again, the Demon noticed and moved to redirect it, but this time found the edges of the paper had a bite to them. Like a knife slicing butter, the paper flew right through the Demon, bisecting it. The sharp plane then impaled itself on the ground not that further on, cutting the grass and soil away as it crashed.

With something close to a mix of pride and astonishment on his face, Brian silently gave the teen, unaware of his freedom, a final look; then he left to get in his car and, finally, go home.

It took a while but Gail found that bakery that she had been looking for, having stopped at a florist, a craftstore, a park, and who knows what else along the way. It turns out that she had gone the wrong way from the very start, having traveled a fair distance away before having to turn around and walk back. The bakery turned out to be alright, hosting a nice amount of goods, especially sweets, at a good price. Of course, by the time she got there, it was time for her to hustle on home so she bought a few things rather quickly and ran home.

Her house wasn't anything fancy, apparently her step-dad had inherited it from his grandfather and he was intent on keeping it in the family, albeit with "a few improvements".

'Call me crazy...but adding a fourth bedroom in the garage was less than an improvement, and more of a nonsensical addition.' It wasn't even tangentially connected to the house, none of the vents could reach it, no electricity was entering in, nothing was working in there. The only reason that she could see for even putting it there was that it was right next to the garage...and that he kept saying how he would extend the back porch to connect it to the house. She didn't understand the logic behind it but she just shrugged and went with it...besides, maybe he'd make a mistake and she'd get to tear it down, much fun to be had there.

The man himself was in the garage, with the door open to let in a breeze, cutting a beam for the new room. She decide not to bother him and just head inside the house, sticking herself in her room for the moment. She had had enough of thinking on the weird day that she had just experienced, after all, she had done it all day. Still, she couldn't let it go and she mind kept drifting back to it and how little she knew about what was going on. She couldn't tell her parents because they would just think that she was insane, especially since she couldn't show them...unless this spirit stuff passed down from generation to generation...could it? At the moment, neither Tanya or Karen were available so the only way to get an inkling was through research through the internet. Sure it wasn't the best method but what was she to do? She couldn't trust herself to remember tomorrow...

With a speed not unfamiliar to her, she hopped on the computer and began searching, first about spiritual inheritance or what not before looking up anything about spirituality, demons, and unseeable powers until called off to help her step-dad, not being able to get back on for the rest of the day.

"Kenny's next to the mall huh? Alright got it. Thanks Gail. See you later!" Cody said as Gail left before heading out of the school himself. He had been to the mall before on his brief explorations of town so he had an idea of where to find it but he hadn't noticed Kenny's before, probably because it hadn't really interested before now. Just as Gail had said, it wasn't too far from the school and he found it easily enough.

Cody had considered that seeing as it was Gail's favorite store it might have mainly sold women's clothing but with a name like Kenny's that seemed unlikely, and it turned out he was right. He quickly made his way towards the men's section, passing a display of fingerless gloves like Gail wore on the way. He briefly considered them but ultimately decided against it, thinking that they didn't suit him very well. Would they even count anyway? The power seemed to emanate from his palm but maybe his whole hand had to be covered to suppress them anyway. Better safe than sorry. He would go for those as a last resort.

Kenny's didn't have a lot of gloves seeing as it was the middle of summer but after a bit of hunting, Cody managed to find some that caught his eye. The pair of thin red leather gloves seemed perfect.... Until he saw the price tag. Cody was much too old for something like an allowance but he did have some money that he saved from birthdays or odd jobs he occasionally did. These gloves would pretty much wipe that savings out, but he needed gloves and these ones looked really nice and would last awhile as long as he took care of them. Maybe I should see if Brett will let me help out at the store. And actually pay me for it. Cody thought as he made his way up to the register and begrudgingly paid for the gloves.

After the deed was done, Cody stepped into the restroom to change gloves where no one was likely to see his hands. Although he had no problems with his left hand, as the light only tired him out a bit, he wasn't sure he could handle whatever was going on with his right hand again. But that one only appeared after I put the glove on my left hand.... Maybe the light from my left hand will keep those black flames at bay? It's worth a shot I guess, I can't just wear the glove forever. I need to wash the gloves and my hands too or this will get gross pretty fast. He had to at least try so Cody removed the glove from his left hand before slowly and carefully removing the glove on his right.

Sure enough, his left hand glowed with the same white light as before but his right was unchanged. With a sigh of relief, Cody threw the old latex gloves away, washed his hands vigorously, and then changed into his new pair of gloves. He was about to exit the bathroom when he thought he heard a strange noise. He was sure there was no one else in the bathroom when he came in but now he was certain he heard movement. The clicking of claws against the floor and an odd hissing noise. A demon? Without even really thinking about it, Cody removed the glove on his left hand and held it up for the light to shine all throughout the bathroom. He heard a sharp hiss from somewhere and saw something shoot quickly up and into the air vent.

That could only have been a demon and it seemed to be frightened of his hand. Maybe it knew more about his powers, but it was long gone now. Or maybe his left hand had the power to ward off demons? That would be pretty useful but it was hard to say for now. Either way Cody quickly made his way home and spent the rest of his afternoon laying on the couch, lost in thought with the TV going in the background.

Brett didn't get home from work until later that evening and brought home a rotisserie chicken from the deli home with him for dinner. The two ate fairly quietly as usual but when Brett opened his mouth so speak, Cody knew what was coming. "So, today was your first day of school here huh?" He began.

"You didn't get into any fights, did you?"

What followed was inevitable, or so Cody thought since that had been the first concern of almost all of his relatives given his past. But Brett seemed interested in something completely different. "How'd it go? Any cute girls in your classes?" He finished with a grin.

Cody was a bit shocked, both by what Brett did ask and he didn't, so he wasn't sure what to say at first. ".... You're not going to ask if I fought with anyone? I'm sure the rest of the family warned you about me when you decided to take me in..."

"Nah." Brett said simply, shaking his head. "Grandma told me about your karate thing and how you stopped getting into fights after that. But you're right, your aunt and the rest didn't really believe Grandma and thought you'd still be a trouble maker. You seem like a good kid though. So dodging the question already! I bet you met a bunch of cute girls and that's why you're wearing those gloves I've never seen you in before, to try and impress em with your good looks and mysterious transfer student bit, eh? Be honest now!" The same grin from before returned to Brett's face as he prodded for more details.

"Not karate. Wing Chun." Cody corrected him, a slight smile spreading across his face. He and Brett were going to get along just fine after all it seemed. He hadn't had time to be thinking about girls with all the strange things that had happened, not that he would have any way and certainly not to the extent that he'd buy such expensive gloves to impress anyone, but now that it was on his mind... "I bought these gloves because I like how they look on me. But... I guess there are some girls at school that look pretty cute." He reluctantly admitted, while trying to dodge the issue of why he was really wearing the gloves.

"Atta boy! Keep me updated and if you need some spending money for a date, just say the word and I'll hook you up. In exchange for some work down at the store of course. And not the easy stuff either." Brett replied with an enthusiastic chuckle.

"I'd appreciate that. Thanks." Cody didn't see himself on any dates soon, but he did need to save up since his funds were more or less depleted. After that, the two finished the dinner and the night in peace. Cody hadn't run into any of his classmates after school so he went to bed early so he could try again in the morning.

"And so, our heroes have completed their first day of school, hoping to gain answers to many questions, but only finding themselves with more questions. Just WHO is this Ms. Tanya really? Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter of: YU YU HAKUSHO! SPIRITS AMOK! " Spoke the narrator in an ominous tone.

[HEADING=2] Chapter 2: An Unexpected Field Trip. [/HEADING]

Dawn broke over the sleepy town of Danmour once more, rousing its sleeping denizens from their slumbers once more. Our heroes eagerly awoke to the morning sunlight, anxiously awaiting the answers that Ms. Tanya had promised. The group ate a quick breakfast,and rushed off to the high school.

DING DANG DING DONG! The school bell chimed, signaling everyone to stop their chatting and get to class. Jason and the others found their Homeroom and took their seats. Ms. Tanya wasn't there yet, so Jason took the opportunity to turn around and talk to the others.

Jason turned around in his desk to the group. "So, how did everything go yesterday? Did you guys sleep alright?" He asked the others, all looking less than pleased to be in this room again. Overnight, Jason's powers had awakened, leaving him with a massive metal shield on his right arm, right over his scar. Upon removing it from his arm, the shield disappated and Jason passed out.

Quinn awoke eagerly to the morning sunlight; meaning she awoke with great effort and annoyance. She'd read that novel far to late into the evening for good health. Combined with the need to arrive at school early and her morning run, she was exceedingly tired.

She made her way across the apartment's carpets to the cold kitchen floor, pressed several buttons on her blessed coffee machine, and began cooking a simple breakfast of ham and scrambled eggs. This sounds great, though she'd been attempting to make over-easy eggs but broke the yolk and she'd wanted bacon but discovered to late her supply had run out without her memory.

After eating her meal, she showered and dressed as she always did - in cargo's and a simple shirt - grabbed her bag and began her morning run - this time to school to save time. She preferred to take a nature trail a few blocks from her apartment but, if she was to meet Karen on time, she'd need the more expedient option. Such was life.

It was only minutes before 7 when she arrived at the school gates to await Karen. "victory" she thought to herself, feeling happy she'd won the arbitrary competition against her own watch. From there, she looked around for Karen. Upon spotting her, Quinn waved the fellow magical person over and said "So? Ready to learn something at school today?"; emphasis on the learn and a mischievous grin plastered upon her face.

Feel free to move Quinn to the classroom. I don't want to slow down the main game, but we did plan on meeting outside. If conversation needs to happen, send me a message via Steam/Skype.

The only reason Shiro ever gets up with the sun is if it's in his face, and then he covers his head with a pillow and tries to fruitlessly go to sleep thereafter. In this particular case, it didn't exactly happen that way because he was half out of bed and upside-down. Okay, that was a bit odd. Pulling himself up, the young man failed to notice that his bracelet was actually missing now. He'd left it on by accident and now the darn thing was nowhere to be found, although he wasn't exactly in any sort of mood to find it either, or to acknowledge it in the first place. Shiro was not having a good morning. Breakfast did follow, and he was out of zombie mode by the time he left for school, however his mood was not at its best right now, because he did not like his teacher right now and it was giving him a bad attitude.

Hopefully, she'll be alot more forthcoming and less like a...like a conceited trickster.

He arrived at school without any sort of incident OR the feeling that something was missing, although there should have been that feeling about him. It was just that for some reason, it was not. Heading for class, he was...kind of surprised that their homeroom teacher was not there to cause him early morning ire. Okay...things are looking up, apparently. He took the same seat he had before and let out a sigh. That was when Jason spoke up.

"So, how did everything go yesterday? Did you guys sleep alright?"

"Sleep? Uhhh..."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He stood in some sort of off-white emptyness, facing some sort of glob of black with several demonic eyes, the two of them glaring at each other in a downright menacing way. Must've been lucid dreaming, because he seemed to have control over it.
"Human, you will-"
"Shut it."
"What?"
"I don't wanna hear it. So, just shut up."
"I will NOT-"
"Don't care."
"Now, you listen-"
"No."
"HOW DARE YOU-"
"Look, my life's pretty screwed up as is, so I don't need fucked up dreams right now. If you have a problem, tough luck."
And so on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Pretty much okay, actually."

He shrugged at him.

Yeah, sorry for the lack of posting, I couldn't think of anything. Sorry. ^_^;

The rest of Lina's night passed in a blur, as she spent most of her time figuring out what else she could do. Apparently, she could also lift small objects using only her mind, which was pretty cool in and of itself. She ended up being so caught up in the heady rush of her new abilities, the next thing she knew it was past midnight.

The next morning, she awoke sluggishly, blinking the sleep out of her eyes. For a moment, Lina thought about going back to sleep, but then she remembered Ms. Tanya had said something about a field trip, and those were usually worth going to.

Lina quickly got dressed and grabbed her things before heading downstairs to get some breakfast. In the kitchen, she was greeted by their housekeeper Amelia, an older woman of Italian descent. Amelia was the closest thing Lina had to a real mother, seeing as her mom was always so busy.

"Good morning Miss Carolina! How did you sleep?" She said cheerfully, handing her a plate of freshly-baked pancakes.

"Alright, I guess. And I told you, you don't have to call me Miss Carolina." Amelia just hummed and went back to the stove. Lina mentally sighed and dug into her pancakes. Amelia had been calling her that for as long as she could remember, out of politeness, and possibly habit. It was a wonder she tried to tell her not to anymore.

"So, how do you like school so far?" Amelia asked, breaking Lina's train of thought. "Have you made any friends yet?"

"Oh, um, it's going well. And I don't have any new friends yet but some of my classmates seem nice." Lina poked hesitantly at her pancakes. Well, they seemed nice from what she could see of them, and they treated her well so far... well, she'd better make the best of it, it was likely she'd be stuck with these people all semester.

Finishing the last bite, she got up from the table. "Okay, I'm off." She called as she headed towards he door.

"Have a nice day, Miss Carolina!"

Biting back a response, Lina stepped through the doorway, ready to face whatever was coming her way.

Karen awoke at her usual time, even with all the recent events it was still important to get her morning practices in, more so perhaps because of all the recent happenings. This mornings practices where different from normal, instead of instruction via sparring, these lessons where more focused on getting her used to using the now awakened gauntlet, not only as a means of offense and defense, but simply used to the powers it afforded her. After practice she showered then ate, mostly in the car on the way to school, where she was greeted by Quinn.

"So? Ready to learn something at school today?" Quinn's grin betraying her intent "Indeed my friend" Karen said, now back in 'noble woman' mode since she was out in public, though even then, she had her own devious smile, and the two started for the class room, there wasn't much that needed to be said, they both knew what they where looking for, any quirk the could exploit, an unguarded place Ms Tanya used frequently, all in the name of pulling a prank over on her, when they reached the class room, Karen gave only a nod to Quinn as she entered. The recon mission had begun.

Karen found her desk and waited "So, how did everything go yesterday? Did you guys sleep alright?" Jason asked, turning in his sea to face the others "Yes, I slept well, thank you for asking. What of you? how did you sleep? Also, how is your arm doing? Better I hope."

The word eager and morning didn't coexist when school was in the same sentence with them, as far as Gail was concerned. She had a working theory that all students could subconsciously sense the approach of school and used sleep to try to will it away, hoping that it was an jusy everpresent nightmare and not a real thing. Nonetheless, she had got up, ate breakfast (the concept of a light breakfast was lost on her entire family), and eventually woke up enough to be in a state called near-death on the way to the school.

She vaguely remembered something that had to do with Shiro and Karen though she couldn't remember what it was...she was pretty sure it didn't involve bondage at least. She would have to talk with Cody about that...did he ever get those gloves? Probably...come to think of it, there was alot that was supposed to happen like the field trip and backing Cody on...that thing, a talk! That's what it was! Anyways, backing him up on this talk.

She decided to wait for Cody in the classroom where she found a very chip Jason and a somewhat nonchalant Shiro, or at least those were the moods that she could guess. She was able to catch Jason's question, something about how everyone's day went and about sleep.

"My day was rather boring, tried doing research into this spiritual crap, don't know which was real or false, helped dad with his little project, in so far as you can consider a new room to be little, stuffs.", she said, trying to move her body to a desk. Instead, she found herself headed to Shiro's desk, her feet deciding that she had to head this off now. She shrugged and went with it.

"Hey Shiro, i need to ask you something. About Ms. Tanya...do you think you could not try to attack her or anything rash like that? I know, this maybe hard since i find her games annoying too but i have a feeling that if you, or any of us for that matter, try to harm her, we would get our asses handed to us or something similarly bad. Not to try and doubt your skill, it's just that she didn't even blink when you threatened her which, last i checked, means that she didn't see you as a threat. Wow, it's too early in the morning for this. Besides, as it is, we're in the dark right now and the only option i see that doesn't screw us is to play along until we know more.

"I know, i don't know as much about this spiritual crap as you do but from what she was hinting at yesterday, i feel that there's something big that's going to happen so i want to see what Tanya's group know of this. So, please, can you stay your blade-armor-thingy for now?"

There didn't seem to be an overall problem with everyone else's ability to sleep so far, although not all of the class was in. Conversations were abound around him as Shiro considered the day. The teacher had said that she was planning something special that was going to get them in touch with someone who had information and such, a field trip. He was wondering how that would play out when he saw Gail walk up beside his desk.

Well, this was a breath of fresh air, wasn't it? Someone being more up-front about how they feel on certain matters. After yesterday with Ms. Tanya, Gail's candor was actually much appreciated right now. In fact, Shiro did not look angry at all when she said that. He did feel, however, the need to set the record straight. He raised a finger to interject.

"Let me explain a moment."

He turned his chair more in her direction to do so in better comfort. He spoke quietly, as he was never a shouter.

"The little I know about what we're getting into has given me a healthy respect for how dangerous it can be. At first, I thought maybe our teacher was a threat, somehow. Her actions set off alarm bells that I was informed I should never ignore. I wanted information, just a straight answer or two. The reason Ms. Tanya didn't blink when I came off as threatening was that she didn't believe I would do anything, and I like to believe I wouldn't either, but the fact was that I had every intention of at least punching her for the treatment we're getting."

He sighed now.

"I've changed how I feel on the matter, so I'm not going to lash out without good reason, but if there is danger...I wouldn't hesitate to act for all our sakes. I'm sorry if that freaked anyone out yesterday. I was a little myself, to be honest. There are 'wrong people' to know what we can do, Gail. I thought she was one such person, and hopefully I'm wrong. I want to be wrong. Will that reassure you?"

Brian had woken up to a groggy state as he slammed his hand on his alarm. Even though he had gone to bed at a good hour, he felt drained and weak. Brian could guess the cause: he spent most of the evening practicing his powers; and while he did feel more certain in his capabilities, he felt that every time his power was invoked, he grew weaker. Brian thought that a good night's sleep would refresh him, but apparently that wasn't the case. He did feel better, but not a hundred percent.

It's with that same feeling of light exhaustion that Brian carried him through his house and drove to school. Once he got to his homeroom desk, he plopped right into his seat and tried to take a nap on the desk.

Cody was much more of a morning person than many of the kids his age seemed to be, but he still had a bit of trouble getting up when his alarm went off at the usual time this particular morning. Yesterday had been quite a day after all, but he still had a lot more to do today so he slowly dragged himself out of bed and got dressed. Brett was already gone by this hour since he had to be there to open the store so Cody had the house to himself most mornings.

Cody began his mornings by heading outside and practicing a few of his Wing Chun forms. There wasn't much he could do without a partner or a training dummy, but he wasn't practicing to improve his skills. Practicing his forms reminded him of the only stables times of his life and had never failed to bring peace to his mind. For that reason, he always dedicated at least the first hour of his day to slowly moving from stance to stance, as if battling an imaginary foe in slow motion.

Once he had finished, Cody headed back into the house for a quick shower and a light breakfast before grabbing his bag and walking to school. After arriving, he lingered by the entrance for a bit to see if he could catch Shiro or Karen as they got to school but it seemed he had been a bit too late. With not much left to do he headed for homeroom and saw that he was indeed one of the last to arrive. His gaze landed upon Shiro as he scanned the classroom but he was pleasantly surprised to see Gail talking to him already. He'd made the right choice in talking things through with her first it seemed and he made a mental note to thank her for all her help later.

"I think I might have bumped into a demon yesterday, but I didn't get a good look at it before it ran away. Might've just been my imagination. And I slept just fine." Cody replied to Jason's question as he passed by on the way to his seat. Aside from his initial awakening, getting a handle on his powers wasn't terribly hard. Just gotta remember to always take the left glove off first.... for now anyways.

Cody stopped beside Karen's desk, deciding that now was as good a time that he was gonna get to talk to her. He'd need to be careful about how he phrased this though. "Hey Karen, can I ask you a favor before class starts? Yesterday you seemed pretty mad at Ms. Tanya and I can't say I blame you. I was pretty mad too for awhile there, but I gave it a lot of thought and decided to at least listen to what she has to say for now. I know your family is pretty experienced with all this spiritual stuff but Ms. Tanya is the only chance I've got at getting answers and maybe even getting back to normal. I'm not asking you to go along with anything you don't want to do, but.... Until we hear her out please don't do anything too drastic."

"And if I'm way off base about you're intentions, then I'm really sorry but I don't think Ms. Tanya is our enemy and I don't want to see anyone get hurt. And if I'm wrong about her then you can believe that I'll do anything to make it up to you and the rest of the class."

Well, that's somewhat surprising...not a bad thing though. She was glad that Shiro wasn't going to try to attack Tanya without a sufficient reason so, all in all, that worked out. She was doubtful about Shiro's reasoning on why Tanya wasn't impressed but he had been face to face with her and she hadn't been so...eh, to each his own.

"Alright, just had to make sure...thanks for clearing that up.", she said, calmly, before turning away and sitting down in her seat. She had wanted to say something else, that she wasn't against Shiro using his power in such a way, but stowed it as it had seemed that they both seemed to have gotten the general shtick of what they wanted to get across. She noted that Cody had arrived and was talking to Karen, so that was less work for her, something she appreciated. Unfortunately, she guessed that they wouldn't be able to talk until later...ah, well, sacrifices and stuff.

It wasn't long until Ms. Tanya herself made an appearance, walking into the classroom while everyone was talking amongst themselves."Good morning everyone!!!" Ms. Tanya announced to everyone in the class. She eyed each of the students and grinned wider and wider with each student. "Congratulations to all of you! You have all awakened your powers! And now..." She reached into her purse and pulled out a stack of Field Trip Permission forms. "I want each of you to sign this permission form. Since you all lived up to your end of the bargain, I will certainly live up to mine."

Ms. Tanya passed out the permission form to each student. The form was not very long. In fact, it was incredibly short.

"I, (Write name here) consent to going on this field trip to further learn about the powers and revelations that I have experienced in the past 24 hours." Is all that the form said...And it had the Principal's signature on the lower right corner!!!

"Ms. Tanya, How exactly did you get the principal to sign something like this?" Jason asked, incredulous to believe that the principal could knowingly allow something so strange to go unchecked.

"Oh, it was very easy actually! The paper is made of the same stuff as the forms you filled out yesterday. Only people with Spiritual Awareness can read what is actually printed on it. To him, it was just a form requesting supplies to repair the soccer field that one of you tore up~"

"Ah-Er...well i guess that makes sense in a very messed up manner but whatever." Jason mumbled as he signed his name on the paper. He wanted very badly to know what the hell was going on with all of this.

"If you all have any questions, feel free to ask and I will answer truthfully this time, no more hiding things from you." Ms. Tanya informed the group. "Now please, sign the forms so that we can be on our way. We have a very big day planned."

Cody had approached her and asked her to lay off Ms Tanya, then left with out waiting for a reply, not that she'd had time to give one as Ms Tanya entered the room as he sat down. Ms. Tanya pulled out a bunch of forms and promised true answers this time, Karen didn't believe her of course, but that hardly mattered. Karen wordlessly signed her name on the line, while the fact she just admitted to lieing to get this class together should have sent up more red flags, she needed to know why first, so she let that slide for now.

Once her name was signed she got up and placed it on Ms. Tanya's desk, then sat back down, pulled out a note pad and began writing a reply to Cody.

Lina arrived in class shortly before Ms. Tanya did and began handing out permission forms to everyone. Apparently, onl they could see what it really said, which confused her even more. Still, she signed it anyway, figuring it didn't matter at the moment.

"If you all have any questions, feel free to ask and I will answer truthfully this time, no more hiding things from you."

Lina raised her hand. "Okay, who do you work for, really?"

Gail signed her paper, putting it on the desk and sitting down again once she was done. She didn't feel the need to do anything else currently since she was expending all of her mental energy into trying to remember what she had asked yesterday. The fact that she had the chance again and had forgotten was infuriating and she rapidly began to get ticked at her inability to think up replacement questions in their stead. She became even more angry at herself when she heard Lina asking her question, both because it was a good one and that she was falling behind.

Eventually, one thought came to her, concerning something Ms. Tanya had said the day befoe, about spiritual energy.

"Hey, Ms. Tanya...you said yesterday that you could feel my spiritual energy spiking outside...is that due to some sort of device or technique...or is that a part of your own spiritual power? Could we learn to do something like that?"
