Is it too late to join in?
Because Murrah wants to join in! *sob sob*
OOC: As I've said before, you can join. Everyone's welcome here.
The guys seemingly drag Vinny to the hospital. The power is on, but most of the lights are broken. Zombified patients and doctors are wandering around in the halls. An ominous thumping noise is coming from the ceiling. Something big must be walking around on the second floor. The thuds grow closer. Vinny slowly and painfully turns his head. With every thud, a light shatters. Finally, the light above them shatters, raining glass down upon them. The next thud causes a collapse. The ceiling and adjacent walls immediately begin to crumble. Vinny struggles out of his companions' grip and dives forward. The ceiling and walls collapse in on themselves, creating a gigantic pile of rubble. Without anything to support them, the walls and ceilings of the second, third, and fourth floors collapse onto the pile in rapid succession.
Vinny finds himself totally separated from the group. "Guys?" he asks. Not receiving a response, he turns and peers down the hallway. The double doors at the end of the hall read
EMERGENCY ROOM. Vinny starts stumbling toward the doors. The hallway seems to get longer and longer. A door a few yards back on the left flies open and a woman in a nurse uniform flies out of it. She has a mean scalpel in her hand. "Stop harassing the patients!" she screams. She sprints down the hallway toward Vinny. His brain tells his body to run, but this translates into an accelerated stumble. He desperately limps down the hallway. A door right next to Vinny opens, and a zombified doctor tackles him. Since Vinny is too weak to stop him, the doctor zombie easily tackles him. Vinny's head slams into the cold, hard floor. His skull splits on impact. He gropes for a pistol and presses it against the zombie's head. He pulls the trigger and takes out the zombie. It doesn't matter though. Just hitting the ground is enough to finish Vinny. The pain from his knife wounds coupled with his new head wound has him down for the count. Vinny lay motionless in a growing puddle of blood.
So, this is how I get to die. I live this life of crime, murder, and extortion, and I get rewarded with money, women, and a nice place. I do one nice thing, (rescuing Terrence) and I get to die a slow, painful death. What the hell, man. He hears rapid footsteps running down the hallway, and hears the crazy nurse hit the ground. "Liz." he whispers. "Vinny!" he receives a response.
He sees Liz kneeling over him. He feels what is seemingly the caress of death. Vinny suddenly feels a needle-sharp stab in his neck.
Was that it? Is that the killing blow? Everything goes fuzzy, and Vinny's vision dims as the pain reaches it's climax. Then, it stops. It's like someone shut the pain valve off. Vinny quickly gets to his feet. The nurse (who had been shoved out of the way by Liz) is back on her feet and running down the hallway. Vinny quick-draws his pistol and shoots her in the chest. She falls down. He turns to Liz. "I guess I'm not hurt that badly. We can get out of here." "No we can't. I just gave you a shot of morphine. You're still close to dying." Liz responds. They go into the Emergency Room and find it empty. "Sit down." she orders. "How can you fix me up?" Vinny asks as he sits on a bed. "Back when I thought I loved him, my old husband used to come home after missions and be shot up pretty badly. He couldn't go to a hospital without blowing his cover. This happened a lot, so I took some courses on first-aid and emergency care. " She applies stitches to his wounds and bandages him up. After what must have been an hour, she says "Alright, you're good."
"We need to get back to the group, but we can't go back the way we came, and something big is lurking upstairs. We're probably gonna have to go through the basement." They head over to the elevator and hit the B1 button. They end up in the morgue. It's a bloodbath. Bodies are everywhere. Dead doctors are mixed in with S.W.A.T. officers. "They must have been on a raid." Vinny thinks aloud. One of the columns of drawers is open like a door, and an open hallway lay behind it. A man in a white coat had died just after typing in the code for the keypad next to the hallway. "Must be something they were keeping secret." Vinny muses. He remembers that he has a cell phone in his pocket. He goes through the list of names, and finds Terrence. "Why didn't I do this at the gun shop?" Vinny wonders. He hits
TALK and listens to the ring. It rings for a long time. "Come on Terrence, pick up." Vinny whispers.
