Zombie Apocalypse Squad (Cancelled !)

[ZapperX]

Zapper smiled at Portal's last sentence to him. "Thank you," he whispered. "You don't know how much that means to me."

As Portal slid his helmet on and inquired to the rest of the team, Zapper broke the news gently, "Well, last I saw them, they all went to Wales. If it really is safe, no one should be dead. We left Shar at Sparrow's house, and... That should be everyone."

Zapper moved around in his armor, testing it out. "So... What do we do, now?"

 

[Dorian]

"Well, if you mean right now, we continue the cloning process of my family. If you mean what our next big direction is, that's something else entirely. Back in Oklahoma City, Shar said that there was a second alien queen, correct?" Zapper nodded. "Then we need to take it out. The only downside is, I don't want to risk dieing yet a third time. I've pushed my luck as much as it is for this life. The only problem is, I have no bloody clue as to where it is."

Zapper looked dumbstruck. "So you're suggesting we cover the entire planet looking for it?"

"Don't be daft, boy! Such a task would take decades! No, I have simpler plans for her. You see, in addition to portals, my lab was also working on-"

Portal was cut short as a red light on the machine went off and a siren echoed throughout the labs. The power went out. "No...... no... no, no, NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!! Not now!!!" He banged his fist against the machine. Unfortunately, the heavy armor punctured the glass and the serum spilled out, along with the half-formed body of his mother.

He hung his head in shame. "Even now, I am a failure. Nothing was stopping me from being success, and yet I still can't have the sweet taste of happiness..."

 

[ZapperX]

"Portal..." Zapper didn't know what to say to the man. So close... Yet so far. "I'm sorry. Maybe, we could harvest the cells from this body... Find another facility, and clone her there? Would that work?" Zapper wanted to help in any way he could.

 

[Dorian]

"No Zapper. I don't think it would work. My entire life has been nothing but getting something good, but getting screwed over because of it. I don't want to get my hopes up for more shattering."

A car crashed through the wall and collides with the cloning tank. Portal rushes over to the hole in the wall. "Dear Lord in heaven..... Zapper, get ready to fight for your life....." Zapper ran over and saw the worst thing that could possibly happen. Dozens of werewolves were approaching, followed by what appeared to be the entire zombie population of Switzerland.

Portal took out a small recording device and put in instructions on killing the zombie queen. "And if the ZAS hears this, Portal's back. Unfortunately, I think you'll only find a couple of corpses." He switched it onto the radio with a perma-loop. He placed the device in a safe crevice, so it won't be damaged.

He looked at Zapper. "Well, shall we dance, son?"

 

[ZapperX]

Zapper was fed up with this. No matter where he went, he always would fight and kill, fight and kill. He thought killing High-Mane would end it with the wolves, yet they still came. But no more. He would not break this time. He would not give up. They were both gonna die here. At least Zapper- no. At least Lance Nicolson would go down swinging.

Lance looked at Portal, a strange cockiness in his eyes. "Alright, let's do this... Father."

Portal smirked, and the two men braced themselves for the invasion.

 

[Dorian]

"Let's DO IIIIITTTT!!!!"

"Heh. Considering the circumstances, I think I actually feel...... happy. Now then. If we're going down, let's at least make them fight for the honor of dealing the final blows."

Portal aimed his arm-gun at the approaching army of undead. He flipped a switch, and unleashed hell upon them.

 

[ZapperX]

Lance let his trustworthy M16 roar into the night, his visor assisting his shots so he struck the zombies in places that would make them drop. One after the other, his targets fell. They were faring quite well, that is, until the WOLVEs arrived. Lance pulled his sai and held them off, while Portal handled the undead.

It was a festival of blood.

 

[Dorian]

The fight was going rather well. Zapper Lance was keeping the WOLVEs off of him, while his machine gun kept the zombies at bay. We might ACTUALLY survive this! We might actually live!

A roar came from over the countryside. It sounded angry. Portal went pale. I've..... heard that roar before.... He looked for Lance. He couldn't find him amid the bodies that piled around them.

"LANCE!!! Where are you?!?"

 

[ZapperX]

"Agh, FATHER!!!" Lance screamed. The many WOLVEs had forced him to a wall, and some were getting cheap shots off at him. The scratches and bites were noting compared to the pain of cutting off a finger, however, so Lance shrugged it off. For every one wound he received, he killed two of his enemies. He tried to yell to Portal over his fight.

"What was that, AGH!, roar? Have you ever heard that? What, URK!, did it come from?"

 

[Dorian]

Portal locked onto the source of his voice. He sounded hurt. With a wordless snarl, he shot each of the WOLVEs in the head until they dropped dead. He ran over to Lance, holding off the approaching zombies again. He had acquired a few scratches, but nothing serious.

"Lance.... I've heard that roar before. We are definitely going to die. The other queen is here."

Just as he was finishing, a car could be seen flying across the sky, headed for them. And unlucky for him, he couldn't see it. His glasses were somewhere on the English countryside.

 

[ZapperX]

The other queen. Had come for them. Here.

Was he FUCKING serious?

Lance's thinking was interrupted by a flying car heading straight for his head. He leaped to the side, pushing Portal away and narrowly evading the car. He then pulled his M16 back out and began to fire on the zombies that were still pouring in.

Another car flew at him. He dodged that one, too.

 

[Dorian]

"Jesus Christ! Where the Hell is that thing? A junkyard?!?"

Portal continued to fire on the never ending stream of zombies the filed from over the distant hill. The machine gun clicked, then stopped firing. Out of ammo. SHIT. He pulled his assault rifle and fired on them. It wasn't nearly as effective, but it would have to do.

DAMN IT ALL TO HELL! Of COURSE Switzerland! There's no bloody threats in Switzerland! No guns, no tanks, no fighter jets, no nukes, no FIREPOWER!

"Lance... when you get to the Golden Gates, wait for me there. I'll do the same for you. And if for some reason we don't meet again......" He gulped. "It has been my honor to know you at all. Let alone to call you son."

He jumped to the side to dodge a truck headed his way.

 

[ZapperX]

"I will Father... I promise you, even though we may be limited in time in this world, we WILL meet again in the next!" Lance reloaded the M16 and continued to fire, when suddenly, a large, monstorous figure knocked in more of the facility's wall and some of its roof. It was huge and hideous.

Lance could only ask one thing. "Is that the FUCKING QUEEN?"

 

[Dorian]

Portal looked over his shoulder. The color drained from his face.

"That.... isn't...... the queen....... THAT'S THE BLOODY KING!!! LEG IT, LANCE, LEG IT! "

Portal and Lance both ran in the opposite direction of the hideous being. "That thing can lift 2 Egyptian pyramids and then some! It's braver to run!"

The clunky foot of his power armor caught on a root. His metallic form hit the dirt. "Leave me! Save yourself!"

 

[ZapperX]

"Hell no! I am NOT gonna leave you!" Lance turned and shot his last clip into the king, then drew his sai and ran at it. "Come get me you freaky monster!"

The king grabbed Lance as he made his suicide charge. Lance then proceeded to stab its hand repeatedly. "Take this, and this! AND THAT, you bastard!!"

 

[Dorian]

"LANCE!!! NOOOOO!!!!!"

His power armor shredded the root as he tried to get up. He rolled onto his back and fired what was left of his ammo into the beast's chest.

 

[ZapperX]

The king reeled back in sudden pain from the dual attack on him. He glowered at the human in his hand and brought him to his mouth.

Lance continued to stab the king, even in the face of death. Lance was dropped into the king's maw, and stabbed the inside of it. He screamed down to Portal, for the last time.

"FATHEEEEEEEER! RUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!"

The beast swallowed.

And Lance Nicolson Jr, ZapperX, was gone.

 

[Dorian]

".........Son?"

Portal couldn't believe it. He knew they were both going to die, yet it hurt him all the same. The only living person on the planet he called family was gone. Gone like dust in the wind. Rage overtook his fragile mind. The beast spat out one of Lance's sai. He jumped up and charged. He swooped down and grabbed the sai and hurled it with all of his strength at the alien's head. It jammed its blade into the king's left eye. He howled in pain. Portal ripped off his helmet and it followed the sai. As did the left arm. And the front of the power armor.

Without anything to attack with, he punched the beast as long and as hard as he could. Portal was picked up and tossed down after his son. "I'm coming Lance!!!"

And with that, the greatest scientist of North America was gone.

And that, Zombie Apocalypse Squad, is the tale of two people's woe. They've loved and lost, made and destroyed, and came together to survive. In the end, however, they were able to come to terms with their humanity. And two outcasts without any ilk....... have learned to love again.

It's been a pleasure everyone, but all good things must come to an end. Zapper and I realized this about 10 pages ago and plotted this. I hope you have enjoyed our performance. Fare thee well!
