"Oh that's great! In case we're in a really bad situation...It'll be totally safe right?" Lisa said to Alan, looking over the laptop with some enthusiasm.
Suddenly, JD appeared making her jump and showing her the mutation on his eye.
"Oh JD! I that looks bad...does it hurt?"

"You try sleeping in the woods, Princess. It was fucking freezing...What's his problem?" Christie muttered to Adries, taking a bite.

Alan immediately stopped talking as soon as JD neared, glaring at him for the interruption. "I'll continue this talk later," Alan told Lisa.

"His problem is that...I dunno. He's a hyper-active infected?" Adries replied, looking over at JD, "Something like that."
"Here is your food Adries," Jacobs said, handing her a meal.
"....thanks," she said with a sigh as she took a bite.

Jack talked to JD.

"JD, there is no chance you could be a burden to my force. Even though you are still changing, you are already more powerful than the majority of my horde. I'm sure the humans feel the same, but I would hope you would choose what you are becoming and not what you once were. I don't trust the group at all, they never leave people out of plans unless it is something that they feel needs to be kept secret. If you think they aren't planning, they are. Whenever Alan speaks to only the original members of the group he trusts, it is a plan. I will need to prepare for them, make sure that they cannot reach the city. It seems you will need to decide one way or another who you will fight for soon."

Jack was already calling in all the zombies from the woods and maintaining complete control of them. Hundreds of thousands of zombie were leaping and shambling into the city. He filled the subway tunnels and had the slagger under those same tunnels ready to appear anywhere at a moment's notice. The scorcher and the majority of the zombies were covering every inch of the city, all laboratories were heavily guarded and he completely sealed the land routes. The only zombie he did not recall was the leaper he left to watch the group. He knew what they were going to do, and he would be ready. There would be no way into the city that he wouldn't be monitoring with at least 100 of his zombies. Jack himself left the police headquarters and took to the rooftops, knowing his enhanced sight, speed, strength, and hearing would make it near impossible for them to enter the city without his knowing of it.

It seemed the war was about to truly begin.

Carver found himself rather restless. As he walked through the door, he spotted the MRE's and walked towards the table. "Hows everyone doing?" he asked addressing the group as a whole while he began to pick through the MRE packs.

"Just Peachy." JD answers Carver.

"I'm slowly transforming into a hybrid monster that'll probably help destroy the world, but otherwise, i'm feeling fine."

JD joined Carver and the others at the table and noticed the MREs.

"Um, what exactly, are these things?" He asked whoever prepared them.

"MREs-Meal, Ready-to-Eat. One of the greatest things to come out of the Military." Christie explained, finishing the bar and searching for another. She wasn't really hungry but she thought she should eat something to keep her energy up from feeling so lethargic.

"M-maybe I should check out his eye. I did cause it after all...?" Lisa said quietly, still sitting in the APC then she turned back to Alan,
"So, how does it work?"

"Really? Cuz it looks like shit to me." JD said to Christie.

"But, I haven't eaten anything in a while, and sooner or later i'll start craving brains. So I guess this crap will have to do." He said, picking at the stuff.

((Probably not going to be on much today. ))

"They're shit," Adries whispered to JD, looking down at her MRE and sighing before taking a few more bites.

"It's fine if you check," Alan said, grabbing a small device and handing it to her, "This is the detonator. Activate it by hitting the switch, then press the button to detonate. I trust you'll know the right time to do it."

Christie laughed a little at that.
"6 months in the rainforest and the deserts and you'll know what i'm talking about. They're high in carbs and are what we'd call 'morale boosters', It's either those or fuck all. Eventually you'll get used to the taste. We were using the best ones as betting chips while we played poker to beat the boredom."

"He's getting something to eat, i'll see before we leave..." Lisa replied, looking at the detonator, "You'll trust me with something like this?"

"Y'know, some brains right about now, would taste way better than this crap." JD said back to Adries and Christie.

Then, JD remembered something. He quickly got up from the table, and went to Alan, with dire news.

"We can't go to the city." He said, bumping into Lisa at the doorway.

Carver had never really been picky about food and found the MRE rather delicious. As he selected different foods from the small pile of packs, he was about ready to ask what all he had missed, but decided to listen rather than impose with questions right now.

Sitting down at the table he prepared the two grilled chicken breasts he found.

"Did you hear me?" JD said to Alan, his voice growing urgent.

JD walks past Lisa and sits next to Alan.

"Fletcher just linked to me. He's planning a full scale assault on the city. Every nook and cranny with be filled to the brim with decaying bodies and the smell of half eaten grey matter. I think we should stay away." JD advised to the Master Planner.

"Unless you have a plan of some sort."

"...You do have a plan, right?" He asked Alan.

Carver decided it was time to speak.

"What about subway tunnels? Could they be used to get inside the city?"

"I trust you," Alan said to Lisa before turning to JD. "Look, I don't even want to talk to you since I know Jack will be listening in. But we're getting into that city. It's the only way," Alan told him sternly, "I have a plan to get in. I won't tell you obviously but it's a good plan and it will work. He'll never see it coming."

Jack had turned the city into a fully functional fortress. Zombies were patrolling every inch by the dozens, he thought they might try to take the train into the city so he used the scorcher to melt all rails leading into the city and then randomly throughout, and every road was well watched. The only way they might get in was by air, but he knew they didn't have any planes. Alan was smart though, he would keep a twenty four hour watch and make sure every entry point into the city was covered. If they came anywhere near the city, his deal with Lisa would be broken and he would attack with everything he could muster. If they tried to use the train it would derail and they would die, if they used the APC he could easily have the scorcher turn it into nothing more than molten metal, and if they tried on foot he could bring a horde so large it would fill their line of sight all the way to the horizon. He was confident but cautious, underestimation would be the last of his mistakes.

He had one more ace up his sleeve though, he was about to shut off all power to the city, making them effectively blind and giving his horde an advantage because of their enhanced sight. Jack met up with the scorcher before teleporting out to the dam where he had escaped Christie. All the other power plants had run out of fuel long ago, and this was the only building still providing power to the city. He had the Slagger travel to the area under the dam and weaken the support structure. When he was done he had the Slagger tunnel up before leaving the area entirely as the ground under the dam began to crack and crumble. He heard the dam collapse and the reservoir behind it flood downstream before all the lights in the city systematically shut down starting closest to the dam. From Jack's position on top of a skyscraper he watched as the city's lights went out for the both first and last time.

Meanwhile...

"What?!" JD exclaimed

"You can't just let me stand by and watch! I want to apart of this, I NEED to be apart of this! If someone dies on this mission, I could never forgive myself. Please Alan, give me a chance." JD pleaded with him.

"Fine, your job is to...I dunno stick with the group and if I ask you to do something can you do it? That's all I really need as of now," Alan said, "Actually I need to go talk to Jacobs in a bit."

JD salutes his superior.

"You can count on me Al. I can't earn to to let anyone down." JD said.

The transformation in JD's eyes were now complete. His right eye was fully changed, the black veins stuck out the opposite side just like his left. His yellow irises glowed and shimmered brightly. It's obvious that JD's powers are still developing, but what will these eyes do?

"Right, I'll be back in a second," Alan said as he went over to Jacobs and led him away for talk about his role in Alan's plans.

Lisa watched Alan walk off, now sitting near the entrance to the APC. She held the detonator hidden in her pocket, tracing over it with her fingers and that worry back again. She let out a sigh, crossing her legs again and looking over to the group around the fire.
