"My brother isn't here. Outside in the APC. He's all super-secretive and shit," Adries explained, pointing outside.

"New guy eh? Lucky him," Albert chuckled, finishing the bag of trail mix and tossing the wrapping in the trash can.
"Well, more people are welcomed. I'm Private Jacobs," he said, shaking JD's hand.

"Lucky is one way to put it." Lisa laughed weakly, taking a few more steps in and looking over the maps that Jacobs had been looking at as she had entered.

"He's not going to need the 'vote' to get in then?" Christie smirked from the desk, not looking up at the new member of the survivors club, fixated on her desk still.

After letting go of Pvt. Jacobs, JD turned to Lisa.

"Who's the crazy lady behind the desk?" He asked Lisa discreetly.

Lisa gave a amused grin at the comment and held back the laughter. She looked up from the maps to answer.
"That's Christie. Excuse her, crazy does not scratch the surface. Hopefully at the minute, she's more bark than bite, Don't worry just...keep an eye on her." She explained quietly and coolly, she was cut off by Christie from across the room.

"Lieutenant Colonel Bailey. Christie is okay though. I would rather I introduce myself before my sister gets a chance that's all. Good to see someone made it."
Her tone was plain, having not much else she wanted to say.

"She's the *****," Adries whispered to JD, gesturing to Christie and moving away in case of an attack. "Anyways..." she said, deciding she'd go and visit her brother, "I'll be back."

Adries walked over to the APC, hitting it a few times so Alan would unlock it. She jumped in, coughing a bit.
"Jeez, looks like you've been busy," she told him, looking at his messy work area.
"Yeah, I'll clean it up in a moment," Alan replied, distracted by the computer he had in his hands.
"Errr, okay. Looks like you're busy. I'll just head back," Adries said with a little confusion as she exited the vehicle.

JD took a seat near the Private. He tried to get with the vibe, but eventually became bored.

"So...Is this all we do here?" He asked whoever listened.

"Seriously, when do we start bustin' caps in zombie ass?"

Lisa looked up from the maps again, She was never that good with maps but she was looking at areas that seemed reasonably safe. She couldn't help but feel a little irritated about his statement, but remembered that he only just found out about the zombies.
"Well if they're going to attack, go ahead but don't go out and find them for target practice. This isn't fun but as long as we're safe, that's the important thing. We can't be too reckless..."

"Can you really blame him? This is the single most boring day i've had since this started." Christie rebuked from her corner.

"Who's ready to kill some zombies!?" Adries asked as she walked inside, getting a few looks of excitement before explaining that she was joking.
"Jeez, you people need to chill. Well, I'm actually kinda bored to. I think my brother has something planned though, so I guess we wait," Adries explained to everyone.

JD decided that he might as well calm down. But before he could start a conversation his arm burned, badly. He quickly excused himself and went to the bathroom see what was wrong. Before he could unwrap his arm, something caught his attention. His eyes. Small, red spots were growing in his iris. His pupil looked strangely slender and catlike. Something was wrong with him. Panicking, he quickly unwraps his arm, to see what was going on. What he saw, left him stricken with fear.

What was once a little cut has transformed into a giant gash, slowly ripping his skin, crawling towards his hand. A strange black substance poured out of his arm. The burning sensation quickly became unbearable. He backed up against the wall, and slid down it, screaming in agony, the substance leaking out of his arm like a flowing stream. He was starting to lose consciousness. He used the last of his energy to scream.

"SOMEBODY! H-HELP M-MEEEEEE!!!" He yelped before blacking out.

"...someone...please..."

Hopefully, someone heard his call.

Jack heard the screaming through the link into JD's mind. He hadn't stopped paying extremely close attention to it hoping that JD might become an unknowing spy and give him the location of the notes. He immediately got out from behind the desk and moved out as quickly as possible to the outside of the group's current base with the help of the scorcher's teleport. Even with his power and the scorcher's he wasn't about to run into a situation he knew little about, which was why he was in the bushes outside the base. He called in any nearby zombies that were following his previous order to search the countryside for the notes. His species took prevalence over a few notes, and he knew the group may decide to kill him for fear of what he may become. He reached out with his mind to the near hysterical JD.

'Calm down child, you are evolving. I know first hand how much it hurts but we are coming, just hold on and try to remain calm.'

He hoped his words helped and it would not be very long until he would be able to kill them all if he needed to.

Lisa jumped at the scream from the bathroom. A anguished, scared yelp. She stood, exchanging a glance to Adries, then to Jacobs.
"Did we check the bathroom earlier? Could anything have gotten in?" She asked with a worried tone, grabbing her pistol in case something had attacked JD.
Silence had fallen since the yelp. It didn't sound good. She gave another few glances before heading off towards the bathroom.

As JD laid there in that dingy bathroom, covered in the strange black substance, unconscious, he heard a voice. It was familiar voice that he heard numerous times. It was Mr Fletcher. But he had nothing but anger towards the former teacher. JD may have been unconscious, but he still in full control of his mind, maybe in even more control than usual.

"What have you done to me?! How can you want me to calm down?!! MY ARM IS RIPPING APART!! AND YOU SAY "CALM DOWN"?!?!" He yells into his mindscape, in hopes that his former teacher would hear him. Then maybe he could tell him what's going on.

Jack understood the student's anger, and tried to quell it as best he could.

'I have done nothing, whatever happened to you happened at the very beginning or very early on into the infection. I have only recently become the leader of our species. I know it hurts, I went through much the same thing, except my unusual symptom was what I believed at the time to be psychosis. It turned out that was the link forming, and now I can talk to any infected through their mind. Your arm will have something to do with what kind of most powerful infected there is, the special infected. I know not what your power will be, but I know it will be great. I know you are probably scared, but just continue to talk to me through our link, and tell me immediately if anyone enters where you are. I am calling for help from our fellow species as we speak to protect you and they are on their way. I am also waiting and if you need me and the scorcher we can be at your side in seconds.' Jack said in his mind hoping to help JD in some way.

JD found a flaw in the teacher's plan.

"How will I know if someone comes in?! I'm unconscious! The only thing I can do is speak to you through linkspeak! Besides, If they see in this state, I'm sure they'll help me, instead of hurt me!" JD said, still showing faith in his newfound friends.

Jack thought back to him.

'Yes, that does present a problem. I thought you were still conscious, my apologies. The group will kill you however, they will know what you are becoming and that there is no help. In fact, a cure or treatment is why they want the notes, the only way to stop your change is to kill you. The scorcher and myself will be there in mere moments to keep you alive as you change, and some of my army should be right behind to make sure that no harm comes to you.' Jack thought to him as he began to move quickly towards the current headquarters of the group with the scorcher right behind him.

Adries, Albert, Dewey, and Jacobs immediately pulled out their guns when they heard the yelling. They all shared nervous glances at each other as they inched towards the bathroom.

"So, do we go in?" Jacobs asked nervously.
"Yes. No. Wait. Uhhh," Dewey responded as he tried to come up with valid reasons.
"Adries, go an' tell your brother about the current situation," Albert ordered, getting a groan for a reply before Adries went off to the APC.

Meanwhile...

JD disagreed with Jack's plan.

"NO! Stay where you are, and Keep your zombies at bay. If I see one, I will literally rip one in half, and I've been dying to kill one all day. I won't join you and your forces, not yet. Not until I hear their side of the story. So call off your legion. They'll just blow my cover." He said to Jack.

Jack immediately stopped and retreated back to a decent hiding spot where neither he nor the scorcher would be seen. He also ordered all hunters to do the same.

'I will go with this plan on one condition. Should Your life become endangered beyond an acceptable limit of my or your choosing, I will intervene. I am not about to allow members of my species to needlessly get themselves killed. Your life, not your cover, is my foremost concern.'

"Hey Alan," Adries said, hitting the APC a few times.
"Yes?"
"Well, there seems to be some stuff going on inside with the new member," Adries told him, leaning against the vehicle.
"Huh, a new member? He's probably infected or something. Did he have any injuries?" Alan asked, looking through the notes a bit more thoroughly before taping the hard drive with them to himself.
"Well he did have a cut on his- stop saying 'ow' so loudly- he had a cut on his arm," Adries replied.
"Infected. Normally a change would be quiet, he's probably more along the lines of a special infected if it's hurting him so much. And I hate tape," Alan said, looking over everything and nodding.

"Guys. I think he something really bad is up." Lisa muttered to the soldiers. Her hand hovered over the doorknob for a few seconds.
"We have to see what's going on. Didn't you hear him scream?"
She opened the door, keeping the gun raised before they could object. She took a step back when she saw JD, putting a hand to her mouth in shock.
"Oh fuck."
