Jacobs seemed reluctant to agree to Alan's plan, but was convinced after a few more minutes of talking.

"Everything seems to be in order," Alan said to Lisa as he walked back to the APC and set down. He called over Adries and went into detail about what their jobs were when the plan was executed later on that night.

"Sounds...complicated. Maybe it's because you suck at explaining," Adries told him.
"Better than you could."

Carver walked up to Alan.
"Why dont you let JD and I out for some fresh air and 'exercise'. I think I have a way of figuring out where his allegiance stands if that is what is bothering you."

"Well we're already outside in the 'fresh air' but I get what you mean. I guess you can go and 'figure' him out. Just be back soon," Alan responded after a moment of thinking.

Carver walked back into the station and grabbed his bag. It was now full of extra supplies. Then he walked up to JD. "Hey what do you say we go out and have some fun. Our kind of 'fun'?

JD got up from his seat. Boredom was starting to set in, and something like this was just what he needed.

"You read my mind Carve." JD said putting on his holster and reloading his G18.

He remembered his shooting speed from earlier and decided pick up a few extra clips.

"What did you have in mind?" He asked Carver.

Carver threw his arm around JD. "Well," He said with a slight cunning in his voice" ... A famous man once said that the first rule of war is to know the enemy. And I need somebody who knows how a special would think."
Carver walked over to a truck and threw his bag in the back.

"Jack thinks he is indestructable, I feel like rattling that cage."

He hoped in and started the engine.

"I like the way you think Carve!" JD says getting in the passenger's seat.

"If anything, we should do some reconnaissance around the city, and see if there are any weak spots in Fletcher's defense, that way, it'll be easier to execute Alan's plan. How does that sound?" JD asked Carver.

"Well we might get around to that..." Carver said with a grin.

A half an hour of driving later, They stopped at a house. As carver got out he looked at JD. "Were are the zombies around here and where would they attack this house from?"

He smashed open a window mounted on the door, reched inside, and unlocked it.

JD got out of the car and leaped onto the roof of the house. He saw the ruined city in the distance.

"Well, taking a guess, I would think most (if not all) of the zombies would come from the north since Mr. Fletcher has them in the city." JD said jumping off the roof.

"Why? Is this your house or something?" He asked Carver.

The door swung open, Carver took one look inside and said with a smile "Soon it will be".

He walked over to the North facing windows, set down his bag and pulled out two sub machine guns. "Think you can make these hold still while firing out this window? I need them mounted while I do some maintenance down stairs on the water heater."

JD nodded and held the guns at the windows while Carver went down to the basement.

"What are you gonna do with the water heater? Make it into a bomb?" JD called out, testing out the machine guns' firing range on a couple of nearby trees.

"You know me far too well. Start rigging the Machine guns to the two window sills, then tie the string around the trigger and grab the pressure plates from my bag, the cord should be in the bag." Carver said as he disappeared into the basement. Emerging a minuet or so later her grabbed the end of the table and dragged it into the middle of the room. As he tied a string of grenades to the fan blade, he began to ramble...
"Did you know that a water heater can become a pressure bomb in two easy steps?"

"Really? It's that simple eh?" JD said while trying to figure out how to attach the machine guns to their designated windows.

After completing his task, he took a step back to see what he did. Then he turned to Carver.

"What is all this for anyway? Is it like the Plan B to Alan's Plan A? Or are we just that bored?" JD asked.

"Well its really out of boredom." Carver said as he finished the grenade bouquet. All the grenades were tied around their centers except one that hung from its pin.
"But I wanna figure out how the enemy thinks. I used to live in Detroit and I learned a bit from the gangs there. This is called a "Knoxs knock". First done by Tom Knox, a local thug. He would break into his victims house and wouldnt touch or steal a thing. Instead he would go down to the basement and disable the water temperature and pressure regulating chip and collapse the emergency release valve. Now Michigan as you may know gets very cold, and a house will naturally used a lot of hot water. But it would begin to build up in the heater. And with no way to gently depressurize, nor any way to alet the house keeper, the water heater would eventually explode, usually collapsing the house. One guy even died from hot water burns."

"Well that's cool n' all, but what do the Machine Guns and the Grenades have do with it?" JD asked Carver, thoroughly confused.

"The second lesson I learned in Motor city is that every con job, pull, theft etc etc has two elements. Distraction and timing. We have both. We need to convince every single zombie and special in the area that all of us, the entire group, are held up in this house. Like the "smoke and mirrors" of the killing industry."
He walked the two pressure plates and the cords tied to them out side towards the woods to the north. The plates were easily concealed in mud from a sprinkler system that hadnt been shut off.
Walking two wires back to the house he strung them to the sub machine guns.
"We now have our 'defender'"

He walked to the refrigerator freezer and pulled out every slab of meat he could find and began to soak them in boiling water.

While they were speed thawing, Carver walked back outside, faced the wall of the house, unzipped his pants, tilted his head back, and..... well you know...

The leapers in the city informed him of the smell of feted meat and the scent of human in the distance to the south. Jack had all the zombies hold their position, there were some from outlying areas that he knew would be too far out to be apart of an adequate defense, he wasn't in control of them and knew they would go towards it anyway. He didn't know if this was a trick on the part of the survivors or an unlucky separate group, but he wasn't going to waste his resources finding out. The city was his primary concern, he knew what they wanted was in the city and sooner or later they would come to him. All he needed to do was wait for them, and the zombies he had defending the city obeyed all orders he gave them and none left their posts as he kept direct control. He did however reduce the number of visible zombies patrolling the southern part of the city.

Jack thought that they might think he was arrogant enough to believe they wouldn't try a direct assault, and he wanted to entice them to follow that train of thought. He moved the zombies further north in the southern districts of the city, out of sight but still there. From the outskirts and even the beginning of the city it would seem that while it wasn't being ignored, it was being paid less attention. The number of zombies gone compared to the other parts of the city was enough to not make it obvious what he wanted the survivors to do, but enough to be noticeable to a keen observer. If they fell for it, by the time they realized their mistake they would be surrounded.

JD nodded at the idea.

"So, we're decoys eh? Sweet." He said.

But there was a problem with Carver's plan.

"Wait, if you were making a distraction, then why did you bring me with you? Don't you know that I'm mind-linked with Mr. Fletcher? I'm sure he'll just figure out eventually!" JD said, going outside to confront Carver (who was still relieving himself). JD quickly covered his black eyes.

"Hey! warn somebody before you do something like that!" JD said.

Carver laughed. "You cant have a trap without bait." He looked down, "Awww crap, dont look. I cannot go when you look."

He finished. "Well thats should help scent this place up nice and good. And we arent the decoys... Just find a tree to hide up in and get ready." He took out a flare gun, pointed it and squeezed the trigger. Then he ran into the house yeling "Dont attack untill you get the signal! You will know.

JD agreed and quickly ran up the nearest tree. As he got to the highest, most durable branch, he took his G18 out it's holster and set it to auto. As he put it back, he noticed his hands. They were quivering with excitement. He had that evil smile again. His mutated hand was sharp, as were the quills growing out of the arm.

Whatever Jack was gonna throw at the two survivors, JD would be ready.
