Zomibes. We all know we're going to have to deal with them at some point. In the same way that America's Army is training kids to fight for the Capitalist pig dog that is America what games should we be getting our kids to play to prep them for Z-day?

Left 4 Dead is out soon and I'm certainly looking forward to practising backpedalling whilst firing into the hordes.

Also, what are your favourite zombie games? Did anyone actually play Corpse Killer on the 32x?

Shoot for the head.
Don't let yourself get bitten.
Kill anyone in your team who does get bitten before they turn and start rampaging through your group.
Be willing to sacrifice people for your own survival.
Have short hair/no hair.
To my knowledge, zombies can't cross water due to their physical incapabilities (rather than mystical protection like in some fantasy). Deep lakes, deep rivers and the open ocean are your friend.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zombie's CAN go into water, and they will. Even if you left a zombie in the middle of the dead sea, and came back a year later, his brain nor body would decompose, for reasons unknown to us. But if you've read World War Z, you'll know that a large problem came from zombies shuddering along the bottom of the Oshen.

Headshot
avoid getting bled on
find an isolated area miles away from human contact,
bring a shed load of unperishable food or irradiated fruit
dont take a car the roads will be wrecked.

According to Dawn of the Dead, Dead Set and numerous other films and games, every zombie has such an acute sense of smell or something that they will flock from across the world to the tiniest band of survivors. But yeah - headshots, avoid melee, conserve ammo, isolate yourself, small groups, repopualtion and all that. Funnily enough, in Half Life 2 the zombies don't seem to bother anyone. Admittedly if a hostole alien parasite race was comitting genocide all in your face, the shuffling mass of poor AI wouldn't perturb you so much.

The most important thing I've learnt from zombie games is that headshots are actually very easy to get with automatic weapons whilst moving. Which is good to know.

Also zombies and water: only as long as the [a=http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hSPG9QQg4C0] sharks[/a] don't get them.

I loved Dead rising, still play it from time to time.

There was also that new minigame in Saints row 2 that I enjoyed, but it wasnt good as a real emulator of the situation.

But I wish I could find a more realistic game, one where I'm dreading going out of my stronghold to find supplies for fear of the zombie hordes. I should not be a superman who can lift and hurl benches 50 feet and kill 53,000 zombies in under three days. I want to be afraid you know?

In a real-life zombie situation, I'm fairly sure I would do badly, even if I was prepared (and in passing I have made plenty of zombie emergency plans.) I just hope to see a more realistic, harder zombie game.

It's their growls. Other Zombies can hear them for miles, see it's like this, one zombie sees a person and growls, a click away, a zombie hears that growl, growls, and follows it, and so on. We are talking about one zombie per click though, try ten, or more often, a hundred.

Stay off the freeway.

What sort of zombies are they though is what we'd have to figure out first... does anyone who dies become one (like in Romero's movies) or is it only those who are bitten? Slow or fast, or both? Can they traverse water? Are they afraid of fire? All these things that if you overlook even one, could lead to your downfall.

Anyway, here's my tips:

ALL YOU NEED TO SURVIVE IS LONG BLACK HAIR, A TRENCHCOAT AND A CHEAP KATANA REPLICA YOU BOUGHT ONLINE.

Lol, gives me an edge. Oh wait.

Is it wrong that I know my zombie apocalypse wardrobe and one of the things that keeps me jogging is the knowledge that when, not if, it happens I'll have an edge on everyone else?

don't just take a gun, chances are you will need to reload at some point, take a big knife/sword/shovel for close range whacking.

cover every part of you in something thicker than cotton. lead or cement are good of you are mega strong and can walk with all the added weight

Seriously now, while I can't agree with 100% of the stuff in the Zombie Survival Guide (check it out if you haven't already) since it's information only pertains to Max Brooks' zombie mythos, I have to say I can't think of a better sort of firearm than a bolt-action or semi-automatic rifle.

I meant stay on top of the water. Perhaps "Cross water" was a bit of a misnomer. You're meant to stay afloat on something like a boat, not connected the bottom of your chosen water body. Zombies can't *swim* is what I should have said. My bad. Of course you'll need to head back to land eventually to resupply, but for the most part, my advice is sit yourself down on a boat and wait until all the zombies die off.

Of course, that's assuming we're working in the universe where zombies do die off eventually from lack of food.

uhh...I don't think they eat. Considering most of them are missing stomaches.

If you can put zombies in the real world I`m pretty sure I can spawn a BFG in there somewhere too. Problem solved. :)

Then where do they get energy to move from? Barring a mystical force here, I'm not seeing how zombies could move without eating regular meals of sweet tasty human flesh.

Yeah, guys, we're forgetting that zombies aren't sustained by food. There sustained by {plot mechanic}.

Make sure you're a virgin, over-sexy, hang out with the hot chick [she never dies, shes the tits of the film/game/w.e] and also, be a "lone-wolf" kinda guy. Essentially. Be an arsehole.
