Don't know about you but there's a NATO base 10 minutes from my flat. Hello SA80s, good bye zombies. Also helps I've been given an hour's instruction on using the fiddly buggers.
Hehehehehe,
I've got a Marine base, a commando base, the regimental headquarters of The Rifles, an air base, and about 4 CCfS. Which adds up to about 1000 guns, just on the kids in the cadet forces.
Phew, I can just sit back and let everyone else sort it.
Only a few minutes' drive from a pair (trio if I'm willing to drive for 45 minutes) of RAF bases and an Army training camp in my area.

You Americans have it easy. If zombies break out us Brits will have to make crossbows or something. :(
We're on an island, we're safe. Besides, stuff like this only ever happens in America.
I take it you've never seen 28 Days/Weeks Later? That was entirely based around it happening in the UK.

Though whether it was a true "zombie" movie I'm not sure. They weren't really undead...

A crowbar is a must have, relatively easy to use and not very heavy, and it's useful as a tool.
Short. Hair.
Don't be a pussy and wait for your mate who just got bitten to turn, kill 'im now!
Help other survivors if able to.
I'd head North.
Use single shot rifles or carbines, pistols (With a laser sight if available) for shorter range. No bloody automatic weapons, you're looking for accuracy, not filling up the air with bullets (This is for the Americans out there.)
Get your friends and family if they're able to be gotten, if you can't get to them, JOIN UP WITH A GROUP.
Use a bike.
Armor plz, leather would be most useful if you want to still be able to move.

But be ready to give up on them. Don't get attached.

Yes, good point, I probably should have said that, not everyone's an asshole like me.

Ah, but in that case the country being an island was what prevented it spreading to the rest of Europe... at least until they foolishly carried the infection over to the mainland and let it loose on the world in 28 Weeks Later.

Thinking statistically, the entire world outside of Britain is a whole lot bigger than our little island, so it's likely that we'll be on the right side of the water from any outbreak (the other side that is).

To my knowledge, zombies can't cross water due to their physical incapabilities (rather than mystical protection like in some fantasy). Deep lakes, deep rivers and the open ocean are your friend.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zombie's CAN go into water, and they will. Even if you left a zombie in the middle of the dead sea, and came back a year later, his brain nor body would decompose, for reasons unknown to us. But if you've read World War Z, you'll know that a large problem came from zombies shuddering along the bottom of the Oshen.
World War Z is hellas racist against Russians and in general has a very Yankee perspective.

The problem with zombie out breaks is we live in a society where everyone only knows how to do one very specific thing. If something like a major outbreak occurs and society came apart there would be very few survivors simply because the skirmishes over the very limited food and water supply would kill us all. In anycase it would help to learn how to use a gun. I've been meaning to get around to that.

Ah, but you see, what we need is a deep river. See, this way said Zombies are overcome by the current.
I've just had a thought. How adept at climbing are zombies, in general? Would a mountain-based stronghold be impenetrable to zombie attacks simply due to the steep climb one would have to take to get access? Assuming we're talking a large stronghold and not a hut on top of a hill, you'd be able to cultivate fruit, vegetables and animals and, feasibly, live their indefinetly.

Zomibes. We all know we're going to have to deal with them at some point. In the same way that America's Army is training kids to fight for the Capitalist pig dog that is America what games should we be getting our kids to play to prep them for Z-day?

Left 4 Dead is out soon and I'm certainly looking forward to practising backpedalling whilst firing into the hordes.

Also, what are your favourite zombie games? Did anyone actually play Corpse Killer on the 32x?
i love most zombie games it makes it feel right to kill hundreds of so called people at once. I also agree with you on the subject. Zombies will aventualy raise from the earth and it is we the video game player that will make it out alive because of our previous experience.

If anything, the importance of teamwork and planning ahead. It's worth pointing out that the people in Romero zombie movies keep dying because they can't work together.

Zombies could not float to the bottem of the ocean. The pressure would implode their brains. Hell humans die with a 1000 or so feet. And we are talking about miles of ocean. So on a oil rig you are functionally safe..Aslong as you have food..(Waters not a problem, YOU ARE SURRONDED BY IT. Hmm. Oil Rig+Soil+Seeds+A lot of damn fertlizer+Back-up non-perishables for a year?

Eh, The climate would most likely be unfeasiable for long term growing. Also the soil on a mountain is not super deep so you would have to haul quite a few hundreds of pounds of fertilizers. And raid a library for farming books/Get a farmer survivor.
