in the past hour of browsing this forum i've seen way too many Yahtzee quotes, yet it seems they appear more in the console wars threads, "Console Tards" and "PC gaming master race" popup frequently, and i cannot begin to explain how flawed some of these things are, It's obvious when you are quoting Yahtzee or just changing some worsdas round. Is worshiped as a God here? People say Yahtzee should post on the forums, why? there are several people who act like him anyway.

I haven't noticed anybody trying to impersonate Yahtzee on this forums. Then again, I stay out of most of the console war threads. If someone is impersonating him, so what? They say mimicry is the best form of flattery.

Do you think that Yahtzee wants to be flattered? No! Fans are clingy complaining dip shits that will never ever be great full no matter how many confessions you make....
Yeah so don't impersonate Yahtzee...

Yahtzee is probably the reason 90% of the users here know about this site. Need i say more?
Your right about that. The only reason why I ever went to this site was because i saw Zero Punctuation on youtube. Though now I enjoy all the other awesome features this site has like the news, all the in-depth articles, and Unskippable. I must have my weekly Unskippable.

But it's the quotes that are used to insult other members that annoy me, see my original post for what im talking about, they are over used and uneccassary.

It's because he is, as much as he hides it with obscenities, very intelligent, and he expresses things in an amusing manner. People enjoy using relevant quotes that other people will recognize and appreciate.

Or maybe we're all uncreative sheeple. Who knows?

I'm pretty sure the "PC gaming Master Race" have been using the term "Console Tard" since before Yahtzee said it.

People like him, although he doesn't like them.
Plus it seems his show is the thing that draws the most people onto this site. He's not so bad, it's just his followers like to "spread his godly word".
Ugh.

That could have been better expressed in the OP. I think people misunderstand.

Hell, my answer was going to be "He's funny. Why shouldn't we quote him?" But yes, imitating his caustic nature in an argument seems wrong.

No one quotes Yahtzee, don't be so pants-on-head retarded.
I'm funny, godammit!

I see your point... sort of...
The odd, rather shameless Yahtzee quote does creep it's way into conversation, but I wouldn't say they "plague" the forums.
But people like him so people quote him. As long as they're used responsibly, Yahtzee quotes are fine by me.
As for him postig on the forums, I can't say I'd really want him to. He'd loose his air of grumpy mystery if he responded to his squawking fans.

Every social community has its catch phrases, and those catch phrases usually relate somehow between the community and its reason for being in the first place.

Put simply, on the Escapist forums, you're naturally going to see catch phrases relating to Escapist content. If there were a forum full of sports fans who all watched SportsCenter during the Olbermann/Patrick years, you could expect lots of "from way downtown...bang" and "En fuego" tossed around.

Sociology 101.

Some of it is in parody, which is fine. Other parts of it come from a lack of originality in their minds, so copying something and someone whom they recognize as great is the only way they can pick up a bit of self-validation. It's really just a failure to provide any meaningful or personal insight to that specific thread, so their brain tends to revert to its rampant hero-loving state, which on this site resonates as impersonation of everyone's favorite mildly perturbed Aussie.

Exactly. Also quite a few of his quotes are just typical kiwi/auzzie slang but because you may not have heard of it you (the OP) decide we are copying him.
However the whole "Short answer: No. Long answer: Noooooooooooooooooooooo" thing really gets on my nerves. Shit like that that is a direct rip off is not fucking funny. I was quite pleased the other day when I saw someone get a 3 day suspension for just posting that.
Oh, you saw that too? I thought it was pretty damn funny, myself.

Most people are on the site for Yahtzee, most people on this site are fans of him, of course they are going to make reference to him now and again.
