But it's the quotes that are used to insult other members that annoy me, see my original post for what im talking about, they are over used and uneccassary.
I'm pretty sure he just put a name to feelings that were already there.

Everyone knows what your talking about, and it saves text so everybody wins. Right?

People like ZP. They don't throw around quotes without reason. Some quotes are fitting to the conversation. And the words "console-tard" and "PC master race" has been around before Yahtzee arrived, only in different forms.

Exactly. Also quite a few of his quotes are just typical kiwi/auzzie slang but because you may not have heard of it you (the OP) decide we are copying him.
Well I'm actually australian and i've never heard anyone outside of these forums use some of the terms he does.

Maybe people use them because they're just good quotes, and relevant to gaming related topics.

I tend to avoid Yahtzee references as I agree they are overused a little and don't exactly scream creativity, but each to their own I guess.

Theres 102 episodes, each with a lot of words, he didnt trademark any of it so using them too is not quoting him.

Ugh. You know what else isn't trademarked? The Gettysburg address, Forest Gump, or anything that anything before 1870.

Yes...people like ZP's Yahtzee. I love his reviews and his up-front, in-your-face comedy style.

I am resisting to quote him right now as an answer to the thread

But it's true that people tend to quote Yahtzee when it shouldn't be; people use his quotes out of context (or in context, but limited by now) to fortify their opinion. Hiding behind the words of a respected individual is the behavior of a weak dog that barks loudly.

I haven't noticed anybody trying to impersonate Yahtzee on this forums. Then again, I stay out of most of the console war threads. If someone is impersonating him, so what? They say mimicry is the best form of flattery.
Do you think that Yahtzee wants to be flattered? No! Fans are clingy complaining dip shits that will never ever be great full no matter how many confessions you make....
Yeah so don't impersonate Yahtzee...
And don't mis-quote him.

"Fans are clingy complaining dipshits that will vener ever be happy with any concession you make...incedently why not buy a ZP t-shirt?"

I pwned your post

Uh dont be silly and look around, people dont quote him like that, they dont say "as yahtzee said, pants on head retarded" they just use his words as his own, thats what bothers people so dont try and be a smartass
Look up the fucking definition of quote. I know it. Your grammar is poor, so I assume you aren't that old, and are probably due a dose if humility.

And by the way, the phrase "due a dose of humility" as I've said it is something Yahtzee once said in an AG podcast. It's not trademarked, yet it's a quote. I generally try not to resort to abuse, but you're a moron.

But hold on...isn't it just human nature to pick up others' phrases and adopt them if you like them or find them particularly appropriate? We don't all spontaneously create new phrases every time we want to express something.
I have to admit, not too many of Yahtzee's gems have entered my general vocabulary, but every time I'm stuck behind/dealing with something/someone who is going annoyingly slowly, the phrase 'punishing lack of urgency' springs to mind, and I'm pretty sure that one came from a ZP I watched at one point.

Very true. But the problem isn't that, it's people using his lines in specific regard to consoles and games out of context to support an opinion it wasn't meant to support. That's the true plague, I'd say.

in the past hour of browsing this forum i've seen way too many Yahtzee quotes, yet it seems they appear more in the console wars threads, "Console Tards" and "PC gaming master race" popup frequently, and i cannot begin to explain how flawed some of these things are, It's obvious when you are quoting Yahtzee or just changing some worsdas round. Is worshiped as a God here? People say Yahtzee should post on the forums, why? there are several people who act like him anyway.
If i could +rep i would.. so many times I've seen comments on specific games literally quoting a ZP review. But then again, maybe it's just because he hits on the point that many of them feel is true, cos of his talented reviewing n all that.

Yeah, quoting yahtzee is over rated on a gaming site, if you wana be hip and cool you gota quote Yeats, Voltaire or Wilde.....Im not myself in favour of premature experiences....your ma is thought....god i just turned a great piece of work into a "your ma" joke....

OT: its popular culture these days, we just regurgitate tv, film, music, games, whatevers the popular thing at the time, in order to fit in. A mate of mine is looking at doing a thesis on it at the moment, also did you ever notice how us young people will congrigate in a circley sort of shape? Its like urban crop circles, it facilitates ease of sight being able to see each other but also makes a very clique group and excludes others...yet another thing of pop culture...
