Not wanting to go to Prom

I had a really good time at my prom. I went with my friends and was lucky enough to have a date. Yeah, the music isn't what I listen to, but very few places play anything but Top 40. And seriously, it's one of the last great times I had with my group of friends from high school. It's amazing how...

Glee Airs Performance of Jonathan Coulton's "Baby Got Back"

Jonathan Coulton showed up at John Hodgman's live podcast on Saturday night in San Francisco. John started singing Coulton's version of "Baby Got Back" and Coulton appeared on stage behind him. Hodgman paid him a couple bucks while muttering, "He should be happy for the exposure." Needless to...

    Extra Punctuation: Building Sequels Badly

I feel like there was an opening at the end of Half-Life for a sequel, one that seems fairly clearly referenced at the beginning of Half-Life 2. (You know, G-Man whisking Gordon away for further adventures at the end of Half-Life). I'd agree it's way more tenuous than the connection in most...

    Extra Punctuation: Building Sequels Badly

It appears to me that at the moment the Deus Ex: Human Revolution guys are doing the right amount of fan service. They're listening to fans on superficial things, things that would immediately turn off an obstinate gamer unwilling to change. The controls are basically the same as they were in...

    Most useless Videogame Weapons

Klobb: The original shitty weapon. I was wondering when someone would get around to it. Everyone else is mentioning weapons that have extremely limited use. However, there was NO situation where the Klobb was preferred over ANY other gun. ZERO.

Anyone else sick of squad based RPGs?

No... I've always preferred the party based RPGs. I like having characters that are really specialized in certain areas. KOTOR felt weird to me at first only having 3 characters since I'd started really getting into RPGs through Baldur's Gate. Solo RPGs are fun, but I always feel like I can't...

    Mass Effect, PC or Console?

I played Mass Effect 1 on my PC and am currently playing ME2 on my PC as well. Why? I prefer playing single-player games on my PC, and I really prefer playing shooters on my PC. However, I haven't heard anything to suggest that one is in any real way superior to the other, unlike Dragon Age...

What DS Games should I buy?

If you don't mind a bit of reading, Hotel Dusk was fantastic. Great story, great writing, interesting characters and fascinating twists. Oh, and New Super Mario Bros. is absolutely the first game you should buy. Best 2D Mario ever? It's in the conversation.

    Games that are funny.

Uh, how did we get this far without ANYONE mentioning No One Lives Forever? NOLF 2 is one of my favorite games, and it's hilarious. It's a beautiful spoof on 60's spy movies while serving up great gunplay, varied gameplay, and an RPG-lite upgrade system. Plus, even though it's got the mandatory...

    Creepiest in-game diary/scene that you've seen/read.

This one's from Dragon Age, so I won't spoil it:

    Best Quotes from anywhere?

"And now, we must walk around the rubber tree plant, for as we all know, money can't buy knives." -Surf Ninjas (something close to that) Rob Schneider's only good movie? I say yes. (Take that, Judge Dredd fans!!)

Dragon Age. Whats your played time or how long it take you to beat it?

I'm also at 40 some-odd hours and I haven't stepped foot in the elven part of Ferelden yet. Assuming I don't get too terrible sidetracked, I can definitely see this game taking at least another 10-20 hours.

Poll: How do you feel about the KOTOR duo?

Oh man. I have to replay these games almost once every year. If not for the horrible (read: rushed by awful publisher) ending, I would almost prefer KOTOR II to the first. The companion influence system is great, and the story Atton tells you when you turn him into a Jedi? Incredible. If only...

    Poll: Morrowind Remake?

Yeah, I see what you mean. You're right, physics simulating in games has gotten so much better since Half-Life 2 (2004) that it is pretty jarring to play an older game where the developers couldn't do that sort of thing. I suppose I feel the same way about Deus Ex the way you do about Morrowind...

    Poll: Favourite Mass Effect Alien

I really liked the Salarians, mostly because they were always around but you couldn't have one in your party. I mean, Garrus is the coolest ever, but you never get to know a Salarian and goddamn if I didn't want to.
