Why is there no England, Scotland etc. option in country options on every site ever

They are nations not countries. Countries and nations may be the same thing a lot of the time which causes confusion. A nation is formed a group of people defined by their origins. Naturally this is not an exact science depending on how wide you cast the net. So on the one hand Scotland is a...

    Book plot ideas

How about the story of a vapid romantic comedy actor who is miscast as a vital character in a modern film adaptation of one of Oscar Wildes greatest books. It can end with the hilarious and justified, tragic, repeated stabbing of the man and the film being saved.

Do some atheists go too far?

Of course they do, to think otherwise is arrogance on a level that those atheists would accuse religious types of. This is nothing to do with atheism however, its people. In any place, from any background, for whatever reasons, you will always get people who do stupid things. Why? Because we...

    music for gaming

Techno for shooting games... Geometry wars, case in point. Does anyone remember the music from Alien Trilogy? (ancient PS1/PC FPS) It had the most atmospheric minimal techno soundtrack ever, was truly beautiful, pretty sure I still have the soundtrack ripped on my hdd somewhere. I'm a fan...

New Dorian Gray Film.... Colin f@#%ing Firth?!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY93VUQSMo4 I got rather excited when I first heard about this. One of my favourite books, being brought (back) to the big screen; the potential for bringing the world of debauchery and corruption covered by a veneer of society and demonstrated by some of the...

    Your Laptop Problems

Clarification on what sticker to look for: Below the barcode should be two numbers, the S/N and SNID. You can also use the S/N on the acer website to register and find out your model I believe.

    Your Laptop Problems

Look at the bottom of your net book. There should be a sticker like the one on the right here that has writing and a barcode on it. Along the top of this sticker there should be something like this: "MFG.DATE: 0808 AOA 110- ab" The "110 - ab" part is your model. The letters only refer...

    Job hunting: soul destroying futility

True, and trust me i'd rather not work a shitty job, but all in all right now, I'll have to take any position. It is only temporary and unfortunately money concerns play a big role. Besides once i'm in work I'll have the resources to continue the job hunt for better things.

    Job hunting: soul destroying futility

Thanks for the support guys, strangely cathartic to hear about others frustrations. This is largely my tactic, started off applying for the good jobs and training schemes, now its anything really, just has to be enough to fend off the rent monkeys. Hoped never to get back into retail, 3...

    The Vatican is clueless.

Actually they wrote them 1600 years ago, filling in the four hundred years they'd missed with a load of stuff they made up..... like the legtimacy of the pope. Strikes me the current popes after his hypocrisy scout badge. Turns out he missed that one in the hitler youth having focussed on his...

    Job hunting: soul destroying futility

So.... anyone else in this boat? I've been job hunting for about a month now, barely hearing back from any applications and rejection where I do. As a graduate from a top uni I honestly never expected it to be this way, having grown up after the 90's recession and been constantly told that...
