I also really like Spike from Bebop and Haruko from FLCL, but I also have a soft spot for Heero Yuy from Gundam Wing despite the fact that he's a mental case. It was the first anime I ever saw and I've got some fond memories from it.

Definitely. I play through visual-novel type games all the time, where the story basically IS the game. Eg: Phoenix Wright, an awesome game.
