From your description, it sounds like the plot of one of the Saw movies. However, killing only one person out of the group sounds a bit out of character for the kidnapper, so that might not be the best answer.

I use it sometimes. I'll have a rare candy lying around and, say, I'm trying to train up a high level Drifblim. If I'm feeling lazy at the time, why not? One rare candy here and there isn;t gonna kill anyone. I disapprove of the modding or cheating route because, to me, it takes all the fun...

Multiplayer, plain and simple. Have it like Borderlands, with the option to do singleplayer, co op, or multiplayer based on your character's level.

There's nothing better than a stressful situation being dealt with by driving down the road, windows down, wind blowing through your hair, blasting Brentalfloss. Truly a magical experience.
