I love "Fistful of Frags" and "Battlegrounds 2" for HL2. One is a superb wild west mod and the other is a War of Independence Mod (I play as the British, for obvious reasons ;-) )

Its good if you've got time to spare, and play against people. The multiplayer is excellent - especially if you know the people involved! Single player is OK as a taster of the game but no way worth it if you don't have a group of buddies to play against!
