Name calling is really a big offense, so suspension was a little harsh. But just out of curiosity was the kid actually gay?

Calling him a fagot is wrong and all, but suspending him for it is stupid. I realize that its worse than swearing, but I swear all the time in class (AP classes at that) and nothing happens because its just words. If you're offended by the word, realize that people can be offended when you act overbearing towards them. Its not that they're against you because you're gay, but because you're getting in their face about your sexuality. I don't go up to my gay friends like "I love vagina hurr hurr, womenz are the bestzz!!!", because it would annoy the hell out of them. The same applies the other way around.

Even if the kid wasn't constantly using the gay thing to his advantage its still a resounding no. Not for one comment.

So should someone get in trouble for saying the truth?
Ok here's the story. There's this really gay kid and he loved to annoy everyone by acting all gay around them. He was messing around with on of my friends and he called him a fagget. Instantly he went and snitched on him. Now he's suspended when he comes back from Christmas break.

So my question is should he have been suspended. I know that calling someone a fagget is more offensive then calling them gay but really aren't they about the same thing?
Perhaps this kid, whom by your own omission was really gay, was actually just being his all gay self around people and they were annoyed because he didn't fit their narrow view of people.

No, they are not the same thing. Would you call a black person a niggar for acting "all black" around you? I'm so tired of hearing people say they're just tellin' it like it is when really all they're doing is spouting hatred and ignorance. And that's exactly what your friend did.

Snitch is a term people use when they don't want to be held accountable for what they do. For example, if you lived in a low rent neighborhood and a dealer/pimp moved in and started flooding your area with meth, and you reported him to the cops, you'd be called a snitch.

For all those stating that they would kick the dude's teeth in or punch him in the balls, I humbly request you submit footage of you doing so or quit bullshitting us.

There seems to be very little 'sideration for what the "******" who was "acting all gay" probably goes through on a daily basis, and much more empathy for the kid who seems to like using words that are on the naughty list because he imagines this makes him seem cool and subversive. At the risk of sounding ageist, it really is an adolescent sentiment that "******" means a cigarette, a bundle of sticks or some stupid shit you heard on South Park, when uttered by a homophobe. It's a trashy word used by trashy people who don't know how to be creative with their insults.

Don't know, I mean yeah ****** was offensive but then again if your friend was the one being annoying then perhaps the other person shouldn't have been punished.

Warning first. Only a repeat offence should lead to suspension for something as petty as this.

Umm, was it funny? In all seriousness, it is offensive, I geuss, but I don't really care because I've said worse things to people. I mean really, they're just words. It's not like he assualted the kid. (Oh, and there is a difference between being gay, and being a fag.)
