Though I doubt a slap on the wrist and telling him he was a naughty boy would done any good. He disrespected a police officer, what else is to be expected?Akai Shizuku said:That's not what I meant. I actually have nothing against the police as a whole. What I did mean was that the laws are becoming more and more strict and confining.Hardcore_gamer said:Yea, god forbid that people were actually to start doing what the police asks it to do!Akai Shizuku said:Canada's becoming more authoritarian by the day, and it looks like it's going to be totalitarian in the future.
Obviously, this is bad.
I think it was wrong for that man to flip the officer off, but I also think it was wrong for the officer to fine him.
I totally agree,Rutawitz said:wait he flipped off a cop? is he stupid? no shit hes gonna get a fine. and its not stupid
$110 might mean nothing to you, but for me it means my family doesn't eat for a week.Hardcore_gamer said:Well i don't. Treating the police with this kind of disrespect is a crime in almost every western nation i can think of, if people could say whatever they wanted and act like complete pricks in front of the police then the police would loose it's respect among the people because everybody would know they would have no reason to treat it with any respect because they would not have to in the first place. Not to mention that a 110 dollars in not exactly a number that's going to hurt you.Akai Shizuku said:That's not what I meant. I actually have nothing against the police as a whole. So you shouldn't flip off a cop, then?Akai Shizuku said:$110 might mean nothing to you, but for me it means my family doesn't eat for a week.Hardcore_gamer said:Well i don't. Aw Id just shoot him in the leg.RebelRising said:"I'm not your friend, buddy!"Cliff_m85 said:I'd flip 'em off again and yell "I'm not your guy, friend!"elitepie931 said:If I was the cop I'd say...Cliff_m85 said:Flipping someone off? What's the big deal. If I were in Canada I'd just say "Listen buddy, I wasn't speeding."
"I'M NOT YOUR BUDDY GUY!"
On Topic, I don't think this any sort of infringement on the guy's part; if you go out of your way to audibly or visually express hostility towards an officer of the law, I'd expect that a fine is in order.
Speeding yourself =/= stabbed by someone else. Crying out in pain =/= deliberately telling a cop to f*ck off.9NineBreaker9 said:Why should it matter AT ALL who he's flipping off? If I'm angry, I'm going to express that, and the middle finger is a universal way to tell that guy, buddy, or friend (as we are talking about Canada here xD) that you really don't like him.
If I get stabbed in a subway station and cry out "OH MY FUCKING GOD!", I don't want to get fined for using certain words of the English language.
Seriously though, why is it a crime to make a vulgar hand gesture towards someone? o.o
Last time I checked, it's not actually a crime to be a dumbass. Cops just like to play God, that's what this is about. I'm just glad that in America, you can't get arrested for disrespecting an officer [http://boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2009/07/harvard.html].JWAN said:Aw Id just shoot him in the leg.
Really though, the guy was stupid enough to flip off a police officer RIGHT to his (OR HER) face. And that deserves a ticket just solely on the fact that the guy is and forever will be, a dumbass.
besides Canada has to pay for its medicare SOMEHOW![]()
Funny you should mention that. My partner recently got done for speeding, 20km over the limit. When the officer why he was speeding, my partner simply said, "no reason, just being a dickhead, I was just enjoying my new music and wasn't paying attention to my speedo." Officer walks away, partner slams his head on the steering wheel, officer comes back and says, "look, because you were being honest I'm going to drop it to 72km instead of 80kms with a $120 fine instead of $300 and you'll only lose 1 point instead of 3. My partners jaw dropped, he thanked the officer and wished him a good day as did the officer in return. Both parties were happy, my partner continued on his way to work. Could have been worse had my partner not been honest.asinann said:When the officer pulls you over, give short yes and no answers. Do exactly what they ask and nothing else and most of the time you will walk away without a ticket.
Is is really so hard though, just to show respect and be done with the whole thing. Instead of being an arsehole just for sake of being an arsehole?m_jim said:Last time I checked, it's not actually a crime to be a dumbass. Cops just like to play God, that's what this is about.
